Tailor-made Zambia Safari by gandc, 7 Oct 2015
Holiday Rating:

great safari for 2 weeks in Luangwa valley, Zambia

Went to 3 camps run by Remote African Safaris to mainly walk with experienced guides in the bush. South Luangwa has many camps but none as friendly, flexible and with such experienced guides as it is owner-run by the Coppinger family who are always to hand. North Luangwa has only 2 camps and is wonderfully remote. We have been 7 times as we love it.

Expert Africa have the right experience to help us select the places and lodges which suit us.We have used them for 8 years and, led by Chris Macintyre who edits the Bradt Guide, we know we get advice from their staff who have been to the places they describe. we have always had a brilliant holiday and exactly as we expected and wanted. The pricing is transparent and the briefings and support cannot be faulted.

Self-drive holiday around Namibia plus a 6-day safari arranged by and around the conservancies (indigenous people) in the Kunene region. The landscapes and the way they change over short distances is incredible. Overnight lodges are of an impeccably high standard - we preferred those which had a working element to complement the tourism. Driving is a joy in this sparsely-populated country. Brilliant. Expert Africa: - always took the time to understand our objectives precisely prior to making recommendations. - always communicated promptly, clearly and thoughtfully giving us everything we needed to make decisions - are able to write and speak in excellent, unambiguous English - delivered on all commitments - offer a superb, fully-functional, well-maintained website providing exactly the right information - assisted quickly and effectively when a couple of minor problems arose that were outside of their control (a missed flight connection and an incorrect car-rental surcharge) This is a superb and professional operator that I recommend unreservedly.

After this we flew to Windhoek in Namibia and took a self drive car round varoud lodges over 10 days, visiting, the namib-Naukluft National Park, Walvis Bay, Cape Cross, Damaraland, Okaukuejo, and Etosha. From there we spent two days at Victoria falls and then flew to Botswana ...

Martha Young from Expert Africa helped my sister and I organise a very special holiday to Southern Africa. Martha was extremely tolerant of all our prevarications and helped us arrange a taylor-made holiday for us. Martha is an expert in South Africa and Namibia and when we also wanted to go to Botswana and the Victoria falls she passed us on to other experts in the company. Their literature is extensive and informative and once we had booked our holiday they sent us 2 very interesting books by Chris McIntyre about Botswana and Namibia. Every aspect of the holiday was covered and we felt in safe hands. I would thoroughly recommend Expert Africa to anyone thinking of going there. This was our first safari holiday and we loved every minute of it.

Time of our lives in Tanzania

We have just returned from a wonderful safari and beach holiday to Tanzania. We stayed in two contrasting safari camps in the Selous Game Reserve and a final few days resting on the beach south of Dar es Salaam.

Tour of Namibia during August and Septemebr 2015

We had an amazing 17 night self drive trip to Namibia taking in Windhoek, Etosha, Swakopmund and the coast and finally the Namib desert. The wildlife was fantastic - saw lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, rhino and much more. The people were friendly and welcoming and the food and standard of accommodation at all the places we stayed at were either generally very good or excellent.

A very special experience

We went to The Victoria Falls, first, then on to Botswana on safari. We had no blips with either accommodation, transport, facilities or anything included in the organization of our holiday.

This was a long-awaited safari to Zambia to see Elephants, Lions and leopards in the wild, culminating in a visit to Zimbabwe and the Victoria Falls. It began with four days in Luangwa park at Luangwa Safari House where expert guides took us within patting distance of lions, elephants and giraffe. From there to Chongwe River Camp on the banks of the Zambezi, with river trips and sundowners and the chance to see ranging elephants at large in the expanse of the lower Zambezi basin. From there a private charter flight took us over Victoria Falls to Zimbabwe for a fabulous stay at the Victoria Falls Hotel. Every stage was flawless, the accommodation, food and activities beyond what I might have asked for, yet fully in keeping with my timing and other constraints. A holiday beyond what I might have imagined.

Rating for tour operator:

This was not my first safari, but it was my first trip with Expert Africa. Attention was paid to every detail, not just the wildlife I hoped to see but the sort of ambience in mind, the best logistics, right through to inoculations and dietary requirements. With all this they also paid careful heed to budget, carefully selecting accommodation, flights and timings to ensure I got the most from my break. Each of the venues proved well-chosen and it was clear from talking to the lodge owners that they know the Expert Africa team personally. This lent a very special feel to the holiday; more bespoke than travel agency. It was also clear that considerable thought had been given to the order in which I visited the various locations, given my requests. The itinerary led me on an emerging journey to see an Africa that I had never imagined - despite having undertaken a similar trip previously some years ago.
