Havana and Western Cuba by Lynners, 7 Feb 2015

Even when things go wrong it was an excellent holiday

As I have come to expect from Ciceroni this was a well planned trip made all the more successful by having Juliet Barclay on board who had so many connections and added items to the tour made it all the more enjoyable. We had our backpacks stolen from our room in Vinales whilst we were asleep but we were quickly taken back to Havana to get our replacement passports sorted but this did not affect the rest of the party (that takes some doing!)...

Interesting

8 packs and unpacks too much for a 12 day trip 2-2 1/2 hour lunches complete waste of valuable time. Comments nd explanations from Cuban woman and Cuban man were good.

CICERONI Travel responded to this review on 17 Mar 2015:

Thank you for taking the time to review your visit to Cuba with us. We are sorry that you felt that there were too many changes of hotel for a 12 day tour. However we feel that our selling description was very clear about the number of hotels used in Cuba, three in total, with two separate stays at the Parque Central in Havana. Cuba is a large country and the changes are required to experience all this wonderful island has to offer. Regarding your comment about group lunches - We feel that they are an integral part of the tour, and in Cuba, very often the only way to provide a group meal of suitable quality is to allow sufficient time.

Valletta Baroque Music Festival Jan 14-20 2015, a concert every day + sightseeing in Malta

With an extremely well-organised programme, led by Tom Duncan, we stayed in the 5* Hotel Phoenicia, very well-placed to walk into Valletta, although we several times were taken by minibus. There were 22 of us, mostly grandparents, and the less able to walk quickly were never hustled. There was a concert every day, mostly in the evening, in beautiful settings, a historic theatre and the Cathedral and another church. There were 22 of us, mostly grandparents, and the less able to walk quickly were never hustled. There was a concert every day, mostly in the evening, in beautiful settings, a historic theatre and the Cathedral and another church. On the first day we visited the ancient town of Medina, the first capital of the island, and on the last day we drove to a massive prehistoric temple, and finished up for lunch at an excellent waterfront restaurant in a fishing village. There was a pleasant mixture of organised events and free time. We also saw the elegant interior of an inhabited town house, and the 'Three Cities' on the other side of Valletta's larger harbour. Glorianne Mizzi, an excellent local guide, filled us in on the history of Malta. It's an enjoyable place to visit, as everyone speaks English. although the architecture and people and the Maltese language combine elements of Arabic, Sicilian and French. All in all a delightful visit.

Rating for tour operator:

Ciceroni specialises in 'cultural' holidays. Their office was very efficient. but also friendly. Tom Duncan, who started the business, is extremely knowledgeable on both art and music; he also saw to it that we had good meals and restorative coffee breaks.and competent drivers. I would rate this firm very highly.

MARVELLOUS

This was a wonderful art history holiday at Christmas. It was beautifully organised down to every single little detail, we were very comfortable all the time, the other people were very nice (quite a few of them had travelled with the organiser before), we saw a great deal of Prague which was beautiful, the hotel was fabulous, the weather consisted of blue sky and bright sun every day....

Rating for tour operator:

This tour could not have been organised more beautifully. Every single detail had clearly been meticulously thought out, so that every minute of every day, and indeed any slight deviation from a plan, were seemless. From the very beginning at the booking stage right to the end of the tour, it was very nice to feel so comfortable and at ease and completely secure.

Baroque Festival in Malta. January 2015

I have travelled with Ciceroni on several occasions and they are always excellent. This was a tour in Malta which included the third Valetta Baroque Festival. Tom Duncan arranged all the tickets and the music was wonderful, in a variety of settings including the magnificent Co-Cathedral in Valetta. The whole trip was run seamlessly and I would highly recommend Ciceroni to anywone thinking of taking a cultural or art tour. Sue Mortimer Toro...

Rating for tour operator:

Tom Duncan is the very best tour operator. He is an art historian and he is therefore able to take us round galleries and museums with great knowledge. His tours are always well planned and go smoothly. In some countries he uses the expertise of a local guide, and always has a good one.

Sound the Trumpet, Valletta Baroque Music Festival

Excellent service and care from Ciceroni. Brilliant Maltese guide. Mixture of music, sightseeing and rest, very well balanced. Phoenicia Hotel in a very good location, but for a 5 star hotel there were some things such as housekeeping, some service that did not merit that grading. But it was very busy for the music festival and had a lively atmosphere

Ciceroni never fail to deliver first class service in a relaxed but very efficient way. No client is not given very good care and attention. They manage to make a group of disparate characters blend together in happy harmony.
