an enjoyable and very worthwhile introduction to a country about which I previously knew very little

An excellent programme, with good travel arrangements, very comfortable hotels, friendly company, a first class tour manager, and a good local guide We explored Casablanca, Rabat, Meknes Fez and Morocco. Great insight into the history and current situation in a peaceful Moslem country

Great Insights into Venice

A visit to a private palazzo given by its owner, some unusual churches and smart art galleries for the connoisseur all made this trip rather special.

A well organized trip, a good hotel on the Grand Canal, one could relax in the knowledge that one was well cared for.

An excellent 4 day guided tour led by charming professional actor with his wife as manager. Based in the excellent hotel,The Arden, Stratford upon Avon, the tour was planned around two delightful evenings at the RSC theatre seeing performances of Love's Labour's Lost and Love's Labour's Won (Much Ado about Nothing). The guided tour provided historic background to the turbulent times in which Shakespeare lived and was writing his plays, with several visits to Tudor/Jacobean mansions owned by well-known local Catholic families some of whom were caught up in the famous plots against Elizabeth and later James 1st. Content,hotel,food/wine where included, and all arrangements were excellent.

Rating for tour operator:

Ciceroni Travel is a small company providing high quality guided special interest tours mainly with historic and history of art themes and occasionally gardens and garden history. They are led by Dr Tom Duncan, or by carefully chosen highly qualified academic guides, together with an experienced tour Manager and good local guides. The programme of tours changes annually and tend to be concentrated throughout mainland Europe and its environs including UK, Ireland, Baltic states and St Petersburg. In recent years some long distance tours to East Coast USA and Cuba have been included.

'Venice for Connoisseurs' was just brilliant.

We visited several places not usually open to the public, which was very interesting. One of the many highlights was a private visit to St. Mark's, something we'll never forget. The organisation was perfect, the hotel excellent.

Venice as it should be enjoyed-five days spent enjoying a varied and carefully chosen itinerary of events which flowed seamlessly, making history, art and architecture fun.

Rating for tour operator:

This holiday was exceptional-after only five days we came away feeling totally at home in Venice having enjoyed such a varied program. It was particularly special to experience the visits to Palazzos which were opened for us by special arrangement and to discuss with owners the difficulties of conservation and management. Ciceroni Travel seem to love organizing the holidays as much their clients enjoy experiencing the holidays. It is a privilege to be part of this group.

The Ultimate Ciceroni Experience

What made it extra special were such features as, having access to private palaces, the group floodlit visit to St Mark's, which was an experience never to be forgotten and the enjoyable stay at the elegant Hotel Palazzo Sant'Angelo.

Tom Duncan combines scholarly delivery which is laced with typical Irish charm and wit and he was able supported by James Hill for whom our slightest was his command!

Cultural tour of Venice.

Rating for tour operator:

Ciceroni Travel provide tours to cultural centres in Europe and US. Travelling to Venice with two history of art experts is a real privilege especially as each person is equipped with headphones connected to the guides. Hotel was very well chosen to suit a variety of age groups with attention to the less agile as well. This particular trip centred on the private collections and less well known palazzi. Very highly recommended
