Mystical gardens, hhouse's and flowers of a corner of Spain.

We visited a couple of wonderful houses all having different types of Camellias. We stayed in two different paradors, one O.K. and the other veey good. the group was full of interesting people, but I felt rather too large. the weather rather cool, but warmer in the day. Nothing one can do about that. There where some wonderful lunches and dinners but sadly not all. Could have done with slightly longer mornings owing to dinners starting at ...

I felt an anjustment could have been made.

I like Tom Duncan very much. this is the second trip I have done with him. Everything runs smoothly and we do not to the tourist visits . He researches everything well. I think he has some input to who goes and who doesn't...but humans are humans and you never know how it will actually pan out.!

Thank you for your comments which are much appreciated. You refer to us having input into who can join the tours. However, for clarity this refers to ensuring that all participants are physically able to cope with the demands of specific tours and thus not spoil the enjoyment of others.

Most enjoyable - wonderful gardens, lovely scenery and excellent food and drink.

We toured the camellia gardens of Galicia in Spain. In 6 days we saw a variety of interesting gardens and houses, often accompanied by the owner and including lunch, wine tasting and coffee and cakes in the private viewing. We stayed in very comfortable paradors and visited excellent restaurants. As usual the organisation was very good and our group of 25 made for a friendly atmosphere.

Experiencing the attractions of Galicia

The itinerary was to see Camellias in private gardens and estates finishing with a short stay in Santiago de Compostela. The reality was so much more! Santiago has it's own charm though I feel it has inevitably become more commercial than it was fifteen years ago.

Having travelled with Ciceroni previously I know they have very high standards and this tour lived up to expectation in every way.

Spring in Galicia

A delightful six days visiting estates and houses where camellias are grown. In many cases we were shown round by the owners who were most hospitable. While in Vigo we managed to get admitted to a camellia exhibition which was being staged in a Castle, the organisers were so pleased to see us they asked to take a group photo for their publicity. The last day was spent exploring Santiago de Compostelo

I have travelled with Tom Duncan before and as always he gave us most interesting background information of the area. On this occasion we were accompanied by David Sketchley who lives in Spain and was responsible for all the excellent arrangements and was most helpful

the magic of the Camellia gardens in Galicia

we were spoilt from the moment the holiday started. Extremely well looked after and whisked from one Manor House with fabulous Camellia gardens to the next. Santiago de Compostella was a very moving experience, enhanced by a very experienced guide. All this was only possible because of the detailed preparatory work done by Tom Duncan, Ciceroni Travel.

Rating for tour operator:

Ciceroni Travel is a small, privately owned agency. Tom Duncan, the owner, involves himself in every detail. The concept of the programme, inspecting the hotels, restaurants and sites personally is his responsibility. He takes great care of his clients which is so important when you reach a certain age. Nothing is too much trouble for him or his colleagues. One feels well looked after from the first to the last day of the holiday.

Venice is always amazing and doubly so with Ciceroni, Tom Duncan and James Hill.

Every holiday with Ciceroni is an amazing experience. Every detail is immaculately organised and the other travellers are always very congenial. Tom and James always include private visits to the most popular sites and visits to private palaces, etc. not normally open to the public. I have travelled with them on many occasions and never been disappointed.
