A Grand Adventure

Many thanks for your comments Lacey, We were so pleased to hear your trip went well and that the organisation was smooth. Perhaps we can tempt you away from Texas again in the future, to sample more of what we have to offer here. With best wishes, Amanda

The Highlands!
Our Adventure was walking the West Highland Way in Scotland. Walking with my 3 sisters and brother in law along with 4 additional friends. In particular, the natural beauty of Scotland and the warm people that served as our hosts at the many hotels, and B&B's along the way. We were overwhelmed at times with the amount of food served at breakfast and admittedly this became a standing joke among our group. The mere mention of "Will you be having the "Full Scottish Breakfast, would bring a myriad of reactions not all of them good ones! Needless to say despite our hours of walking each day one meal of that and it carried up through and then some! It was in a word, a wonderful experience and one of the most memorable events of my life.

Everything was absolutely the way it was supposed to happen. I never met them, but they had everything in perfect order. Luggage was always on time, taxi waiting on time at the end. All buttoned up.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write us a review after completing your West Highland Way walk, Elizabeth. A full Scottish breakfast is a wonderful thing! I certainly recognise your description of the overwhelming amount of food served but it's all part of the experience, and we won't want you to walk on an empty stomach! If we can ever tempt you into another adventure then please don't hesitate to contact us again - it'd be our pleasure. Best wishes, Sine Nielsen

Spring walk on The Great Glen Way
We had an amazing spring walk on The Great Glen Way. We were met with beautiful sights, green forests and warm and welcoming accomodations.

Absolute Escapes handled everything very professionally. We felt very well-informed on every bit of our trip. They sent us a lot of useful information in advance, so we felt very well-prepared to take on the Great Glen Way.
Thanks very much for your kind feedback, Mads, it's great to hear you had such an amazing walk on the Great Glen Way. With blue skies and snow-capped mountains, you chose one of the best times of year to walk in Scotland. Thanks again for choosing to book with Absolute Escapes. Best wishes, Richard.

Excellent
Great Glen Path well marked and well maintained. Better than WHW. Did high route on fourth day but not fifth. Forest rather overpowering, where there could have been a view the trees had grown too high. Wonderfully empty meeting very few other walkers compared to WHW. Bicycles a nuisance as they give no notice (bell, call etc) before arriving, nearly had collision when doing minor first aid after a fall and 2 cyclists only just missed us. ...

Bicycles a nuisance as they give no notice (bell, call etc) before arriving, nearly had collision when doing minor first aid after a fall and 2 cyclists only just missed us. At Corpach we purchased the canal loo key for £10 and found it was well worth having it. Returned it to keeper of swing bridge at Inverness. Inverness was a lovely city to end. The route in over the islands and beside the Ness was attractive, and the city itself was easy to get around and had a number of attractions and shops.

Absolute escapes organised our trip very well getting us twin beds everywhere and baths where possible overnight. Their instructions and notes were accurate and helpful and map and guide provided ensured we never lost the path. We would have liked information on possible division of last section into two ten mile sections (in seven days) rather than 20 miles on the last sixth day. This was too much for my feet but husband enjoyed doing it in 7 hours. Best accommodation was Glengarry Hotel and Invermoriston Hotel. Best food was at Russell's/Smiddys B & B, but room was small and very cluttered. Glen kirk B& B at Drumnadroick was comfortable, but owner seemed prejudiced against walkers and was deliberately unhelpful. Moyness Guest House in Inverness was excellent and also went out of their way to help.
Many thanks for your detailed feedback Hazel, it is very much appreciated. Glad to hear you enjoyed the quiet atmosphere on the trail, it's certainly very different to the WHW. And I'm sorry that we didn't make our easier itinerary options a bit clearer in the beginning, it sounds like our GGW3 itinerary (which splits that 20 mile day in half) might have suited you better. Do let us know if you're tempted by a third Scottish walking trail in the future! Kind Regards, James

Great Accomodations, Dingle Way is interesting
We (Kim, Anita, Fritz, and Kathy) did the 8 day trek of the Dingle way. It was the first time to Ireland for each of us. All our hosts at the B&Bs were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and in working order. Breakfast at each B&B was excellent. Breakfast is very important to me when I am in a trek. The Dingle Way was more rural and less wilderness than I expected. Rooms were clean and in working order. Breakfast at each B&B was excellent. Breakfast is very important to me when I am in a trek. The Dingle Way was more rural and less wilderness than I expected. The day from Dunquin to Cuas was the most remote day for us with the walk on the beach at Smerwick Harbor. We had good weather most days with one day of complete rain going from Cloghane to Castlegregory. However we were prepared for rainy weather and it was not an issue.

The Dingle Way trek is my 2nd time using Absolute Escapes for a trip. In May of 2015 I was with the Colorado Hiking Club when we did the West Highland Way that was also setup by Absolute Escapes. Both of these treks were self guided. Absolute did a great job for us on the Dingle Way. All of the B&Bs were great for accommodations and food and were located on the Dingle Way route with the exception of the B&B in Dunquin that was only about a 1/4 mile off the route. The Absolute writeups of the trek were accurate and their communication with me before the trip was great. They kept me completely informed on the status of our trip.
Thank you very much for your feedback, Kim. We're delighted that you had an enjoyable walking holiday in Ireland, and that you decided to book with us again after walking the West Highland Way last year. Thank you also for your kind words, we are glad that all the arrangements ran smoothly. If we can ever tempt you into another walking holiday then please don't hesitate to contact us again.
Best Wishes, Freya

A Great time had by all.
We all enjoyed walking the St Cuthberts way, Melrose to Lindisfarne, and then up the coastal path to Berwick upon Tweed, the walk is quite varied, a mixture of footpaths through rolling countryside, walking by the river Tweed, going over the cheviot hills, walking the Pilgrims way over the sands to Lindisfarne, and some road walking. The weather was very kind to us warm sunny days no rain, tee shirts and shorts all the way. Our accommodation ...

We enjoyed our early doors beers after the days walking especially the Tyneside blond, and our nightcaps of single malts. Absolute escapes were great they sorted out excellent accommodation for us,and we had no problem with our baggage being moved from place to place. The information packs they sent to us were spot on. Would certainly think of using Absolute escapes again, and would recommend to any one.
Thank you very much for your feedback David - great to hear you had such an enjoyable time on the St Cuthbert's Way. I'm rather impressed you got away without a drop of rain! Do let us know if you consider another walking trail in the future, we'd be more than happy to help again. Kind Regards, James

Brilliant Tour of Inner and Outer Hebredes
Mull, Skye and the first days on Lewis the sun hardly stopped shining, then it clouded over and rained a bit, but if it hadn’t, how would we have known what the Islands are really like. Rain never got in the way of doing things. Wildlife – white tailed eagle, golden eagle 30 foot over the car, puffins 2ft away plus all the other birds on the Treshnish Isles. A pod of about 15 dolphins that played around the boat for about 15 mins on the way ...

Rain never got in the way of doing things. Wildlife – white tailed eagle, golden eagle 30 foot over the car, puffins 2ft away plus all the other birds on the Treshnish Isles. A pod of about 15 dolphins that played around the boat for about 15 mins on the way to Staffa. An otter we got close enough to video – Watch out Gordon Buchanan, it was on Mull as well Spectacular scenery all around. All the B&Bs were good, but Skye, Harris and Barra stood out for location with sea or loch views from our bedroom.
Rating for tour operator:

Our tour was effortlessly customized for us. All B&Bs booked for us, ferry crossings sorted. All we had to do was turn up and enjoy. We had started looking at guide books, but soon discovered that all the places / things to do were covered in the guide sent from Absolute Escape. We would certainly use them again.
Many thanks for your feedback, Mike, we really appreciate your kind comments and were delighted to hear that you had such a wonderful time exploring the Hebrides. The Isle of Mull is a real wildlife haven and by the sound of things you were very lucky - it's not every day that eagles, puffins, dolphins and otters show up! We can't wait to see photos when you've had time to sort through them all and pick your favourites. Please don't hesitate to contact us again if we can assist with any more adventures. Best wishes, Sine Nielsen
