Walking in Knoydart

We stayed at Doune, which is very remote, on the Knoydart Peninsular and only accessible by boat. A big attraction of this holiday was the fact we had to use a boat to get to several of the islands where we were walking. The accommodation was rustic but perfectly adequate and the food was excellent as was the guide and the countryside.

Wilderness Scotland were extremely well organised, providing an excellent and accurate brief on the trip and the kit required. The guide was outstanding in his professionalism, knowledge of the area and wildlife which he passed on and he was also very safety conscious.

Fantastic Wilderness with Traditional Scottland

My husband and I had a fantastic time exploring Lewis and Harris with Wilderness Scotland. The vistas (when we saw them through the traditional Scottish weather) were amazing and very different from other places. I am so happy that we booked with Wilderness Scotland and I do not think our guide or the accommodations could have been any better. I would highly recommend Wilderness Scotland for anyone thinking of booking of a trip here.

Mark was a wonderful guide. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about wilderness skills and equipment use as well as about the the local area's geology, history, and current state. His wealth of knowledge seemed unending and he was what I would consider a top-notch guide.

Eda Frandsen Sailing Holiday

Due to bad weather we sailed north instead of the smaller Inner Hebrides island, but I was not disappointed at all with our trip. We sailed by Rasaay, and stops at Rona, Gairloch, Plockton, Portree, and Loch Nevis. We spent plenty of time sailing with enough time to go on shore and explore or enjoy a pint or two at local pubs.

The crew of the Eda Frandsen was fantastic. Gabe was excellent and patient in teaching us what we need to do up on deck as well as 1st mate James. James had us in stitches the whole time. Chloe's cooking was outstanding and was one of the selling points for me booking this trip. She made fresh breads, croissants, tarts, and even a layered birthday cake for one of the guests. The meals were mouth watering, I probably won't get a chance to eat like that for awhile. It's amazing how she made everything in that tiny kitchen. I had so many jealous friends after I shared pictures of my trip. I have a few considering booking one now.

Sea kayaking on the beautiful Scottish North West Highlands

An introductory experience in sea kayaking. The whole experience was about taking complete novices and teaching them kayaking techniques to enable paddling in the sea and sea lochs

The Eda Frandsen - Sailing Inner Hebrides

An absolutely unforgettable experience. The boat, the crew, the food, the guests, the location - truly nothing could be improved upon. We worked the boat, walked the islands, drank in tiny pubs, dined on exquisite meals, experienced every form of weather Scotland has to offer, laughed until we cried, and nearly had to be forced off the boat.
