Excellent in Parts

Pilgrimage to Lourdes. Most of the Hotel Padoue facilities were first class apart from the dining area. There we were crushed together with little space between tables. Breakfasts were fine but lunch and dinner were poor. Menus lacked imagination with rice served at almost every meal. The alternative of lettuce with one tomato was not good enough. The staff were greast but clearly not enough of them

Wonderful experience.

I was a member of the group of pilgrims who travelled to Lourdes, France. It was a wonderful experience to be in this place where people gather to pray and to find release for their difficulties in life.

The Tagney Tour's staff have looked after us in a very professional manner as they did it in other occasions, too.

Our First Pilgrimage to Lourdes

My wife, Christine, has advanced Parkinson's Disease and for us this was not only a revelatory pilgrimage but also a wonderful and SAFE week in a wonderful part of the world. Despite Christine's considerable disabilities, we were able to stay in, and enjoy, an ordinary hotel. Along with the Pilgrimage organisers and the hotel staff, this was because of Tangney Tours. Thank you.

Because of past experiences we approached this, our first trip abroad for many years, with some nervousness. It was unnecessary. From the initial booking procedures, to assisting in providing some special requirements, right up to the journey itself, the tour operator acted with efficiency, humanity and warmth. At all times, we knew we were in caring hands.

It was a pilgrimage!

The airport experience both out and return were stressful and exhausting for the assisted people. We were promised a lift onto plane which didnt happen. Assisted people loaded in unsafe and undignified manner. Hotel's food has deteriorated. Poor value for money paid

Hotel rep was inexperienced but lovely young man. No rep was seen at either airport to sort problems

Tangney Tours responded to this review on 01 Nov 2023:

Thank you for your comments, we did have reps at all the airports on each occasion. Sorry that you missed them.

Satisfactory

I went with a friend on the Hexham and Newcastle Diocese annual seven day pilgrimage to Lourdes. We had single rooms in the "Gallia Londres Hotel". The hotel was nice but the food was not up to much: I had been previously in another, cheaper hotel when I had worked as a Nurse assisting pilgrims but thought that as I was no longer doing that I would stay somewhere better. The accommodation was good but I thought that the food was not up ...

The accommodation was good but I thought that the food was not up to much, there was little choice, the waitress said what the meal was and you could agree or if not they would come up with an alternative but it was nothing special. The Tangney rep. visited regularly and was helpful but not able to do much.

They were alright, quite helpful at the Airport and keen to assist.

Everything as it should be, all queries dealt with appropriately.

We went on a Pilgrimage to Lourdes with our Church so there were over 30 of us. We were all accommodated within the same Hotel and were able to sit near to others from our Church.

A chance to Get Away

My husband Tony and I had travelled with Tangney before but saw the chance for me as a disabled person to get away and visit Lourdes for the first time . The programme arranged by the Catholic association was excellent and the help I received gave Tony my carer the chance to have some time to himself.

Tangney are reputed as a supplier of pilgrimages and as a wheelchair bound person was well looked after despite the flight lays on both journeys.

Group Pilgrimage, all ages and mobility

Pilgrimage in itself is a challenge, being with other people and meeting others of all creeds. Because behind ig all is the religious aspects when genes to try and be tolerant of everyone, no discord.

Rating for tour operator:

One of the biggest religious tour operators and as such the challenge for them to manage and support can. never be easy. They did a good job overall, keeping organised and everything in order and people informed. Disaster on both chartered flights, which did not run according to how Tangney, tour operator had agreed and planned. Kept well informed as delays were extended, the did the best they could to placate everyone, inclosing sick pilgrims.
