Rattrays Mala Mala - Out of this world luxury safari.

This is my first safari, and I spent hours asking questions and planning the trip. I had concerns about flights (not keen on little planes) and accommodation standards etc. I should not have worried. We flew BA business class to Jo'berg, then SA link to Skukuza, and had 4 nights at Rattrays before coming home. A short trip but the most memorable of my life. We flew BA business class to Jo'berg, then SA link to Skukuza, and had 4 nights at Rattrays before coming home. A short trip but the most memorable of my life. The game viewing was incredible, we saw the Big 5, but also cheetah and wild dog. We parked very close to group of 4 lions and spent about an hour with them as the sun went down, the most incredible experience - very peaceful. The accommodation was beautiful, very clean, and decadent! Nothing like being in a private plunge pool and watching elephants in the river below. We tried to extend our stay, it was so amazing, but unsurprisingly there were no spaces. I feel incredibly privileged to see this, but greedy enough to want to return asap!

Rating for tour operator:

Unbelievable! Incredibly patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. This holiday was perfect thanks to them. They helped find the perfect property to stay in, with incomparable game viewing. If I had stayed elsewhere (based on website information) out holiday would not have been as good. Possibly the accommodation would have been similar, but the game viewing not as good. Their specialist knowledge is priceless. They were as helpful pre and post booking, and were quick to respond, often out of traditional business hours. I would use them again without hesitation, and would recommend to anyone thinking of booking direct, don't, it would be a false economy - for a holiday of a lifetime you need advice from the best, and without doubt this company must be the market leader by some margin for service. While I was researching, I did ask for a couple of other quotes from companies, they did not come close to the level of service, and yet the prices were comparable - so the best is not always at a price premium.

This was planned to be 'the trip of a lifetime' and it actually exceeded expectations. Safari Consultants organised an itinerary which worked down to the last details. This was planned to be 'the trip of a lifetime' and it actually exceeded expectations. Safari Consultants organised an itinerary which worked down to the last details. The accommodation and food at The Woodall Country Hotel and Gorah Elephant Camp was excellent. The daily trips from Woodall including transfers were on time, and the experiences of riding African elephant bareback; canoeing down the Sunday river; horse-riding through Addo National Park, and a half day safari at Scotia Reserve were truly memorable. Equally, the twice daily safari drives at Gorah were fantastic; particularly viewing elephants, zebras, lions in their natural habitat, and 3 renegade cheetahs who should not have been there at Addo, but added to the overall thrill of being close to these wonderful species. The knowledge, commitment, and enthusiasm of the guides about everything pertaining to Addo and its crucial role in conservation made every game drive a stimulating and informative experience. My husband and I loved it all; the only negative is the travel time on planes to get there land back!. We cannot recommend Safari Consultants too highly, and should we return to Africa, we would not hesitate to use them to plan our itinerary. Their attention to detail was 'second to none'.

Thank you for a wonderful experience

We had an excellent trip to Kenya with memorable cultural experiences as well as varied wildlife viewings and scenery with wonderful landscapes. The end of the dry season did mean not so many animals on "show" but the landscapes and excellent guiding from our three camps was all that was needed. We certainly plan to travel again with Safari Consultants who carried out our brief perfectly and made all the internal travelling flow effortlessly...

Wall to wall enjoyment

We visited three camps/lodges for 3/4 nights each, sandwiched between stays at the Boma Hotel Nairobi. The camps were Offbeat Meru, Kicheche Laikipia & Saruni Mara; each had its own character and we were happy with all

Perfect pleasure perfectly planned

This was a fortnight in Botswana beginning in the desert and ending in Linyanti and the Okavango. As our main interest is bird watching and this was our third visit to Botswana , we opted for the end of the wet season and were well rewarded in spite of the poor winter rains. We began at Camp Kalahari in Makgadikgadi, moved on to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve with Kalahari Plains and then headed for Savuti in Linyanti and finally total luxury ...

Rob Slater at Safari Consultants has organised all six of our African holidays and we have never been disappointed. From our starter trip in 2008 with our family (10 of us,ages 7 to 70!)to this recent visit to Botswana, he has always delivered a meticulously planned holiday suited to our particular interests, needs and quirks. We take his experience and expertise for granted but we always appreciate the considerable time he gives at every stage to equip us with the details vital for us to make the right choice. The result is invariably a successful, enjoyable, exciting holiday where a 77 year old and a 75 year old can still feel adventures are not entirely the prerogative of the young!

Kenya and Tanzania -safari and beach holiday. Lewa Wilderness and Saruni Mara were spectacular safari camps. Very private and personalized service. True adventure in comfort. The Palms in Zanzibar is private and luxurious for a quiet and high end beach holiday.

Amazing

Truely amazing holiday from start to finish, it was a shame to leave such a beautiful country. Lots of game, the highlight was seeing a wild black rhino in the Mara North Conservancy.

Safari in Botswana

We visited 3 safari camps: Kalahari Plains, Jacana, Vumbura Plains. All were part of the 'wilderness safari' group. All the camps were excellent and the schedule that Safari Consultants put together was perfect for us - a perfect mix of camps and safari experiences

FABULOUS PHOTOGRAPHIC TRIP TO THE MARA

I have just spent two weeks at Kicheche Mara Camp organised by Safari Consultants and Bob Brind-Surch from Natures Photos. We had a wonderful time and the organisation and commitment from both Safari Consultants and Natures Photos was exceptional.

An amazing experience in every respect - the wildlife, the lodges, the guides and the countryside exceeded our expectations. Trekking to the mountain gorillas and spending time watching them was an experience never to be forgotten. The drive through Rwanda up to the Volcanoes Park took us through some stunning scenery and the views from our lodge in Virunga were breathtaking. Our two safaris in Kenya were both different and we were lucky enough to see both types of Rhino, Grevy Zebras and Gerenuk so we have now seen some of the less common animals alongside all the normal ones in great abundance. Our accommodation in Lewa and Saruni were excellent and we had several large animals wandering around in front of our verandas. The staff in all three sites were brilliant and all of our guides went out of their way to ensure we saw their countries and the wildlife as completely as possible in the time we were with them. Well done.

This is the second time we have travelled with Safari Consultants and we have no hesitation in giving them the highest possible recommendation. After our initial meeting with Michelle to explore the possibilities and discuss our requirements she came up with a number of suggestions and we have to say that her recommendations were spot on, both in terms of the accommodation and the wildlife experiences. Safari Consultants provided us with the holiday of a lifetime which we will never forget. Thank you.
