Agean maritime historical and luxury charter

7 days at sea in a luxuriously appointed Turkish Gulet. A crew of 4, a local Turkish guide and a German archaeologist adapted a 7 day route hugging the Turkish coastline affording us insights into the history, culture and cuisine of the region. We were exceptionally well looked after and there was something for everyone be it swimming in the pristine ocean in a secluded bay, to chilling with a G&T on the foredeck to scrambling over ancient ruins ...

We were exceptionally well looked after and there was something for everyone be it swimming in the pristine ocean in a secluded bay, to chilling with a G&T on the foredeck to scrambling over ancient ruins with a guide who was both funny and interesting. I would thoroughly recommend Peter Sommer tours to anyone who wants a break from the modern world with a service that is truly personal.

Cruising to the Cyclades--An Extraordinary Odyssey

We cruised in a gulet with two exceptionally knowledgeable, entertaining, and caring guides. A wonderful way to immerse ourselves in the history, archaeology, and culture of the Aegean from classical times to the present, with plenty of time to relax, and great food, company, and conversations. We thoroughly enjoyed this second holiday with Peter Sommer Travels, and we are already looking forward to the next opportunity to travel with them.

We have traveled twice with Peter Sommer Travels, and both times have been excellent in planning, logistics, and concern for the guests. Great food, fine lodgings aboard ship, and great guides and company.

Luxurious, relaxing, and culturally enriching. The trip was perfect from start to finish thanks to trained staff, knowledgeable tour guides, and the most amazing scenery I have ever witnessed.

Notta was a dynamo: charming, funny, and above all a master in her concentration. There was nothing she didn't know, and while it may have occasionally been hard to keep up with all the historical information fed to us, Notta shined as a tour operator.

Beautiful and educational.

We power sailed/motored for 7 days to Greek islands along the Turkish coast. The majority of the time on the boat at ports with a few days anchored. 5 Day tours of the larger islands where we went into port, majority of the meals on the boat and one/2 days of water sports. The boat, crew, tour operators and food were top notch.

Two very knowledgeable tour operators, very kind and easy to speak with. I was most impressed with their ability to keep energy at top levels even through the exhausting heat and long days.

Fabulous relaxing holiday cruising in the Dodecanese

I had a wonderful relaxing time Cruising the Dodecanese with Peter Sommer Travels. It was extremely well organised with highly professional tour leaders and Gulet crew. The archaeology, culture and more recent history were expertly explored in an interesting and stimulating way.

We chartered the Kaya Guneri V, a truly luxurious gulet, and spent a week sailing around the Dodecanese Islands. The staff at Peter Sommers took great care to help us create a perfect itinerary ahead of the trip. Life aboard the Kaya Guneri was an extraordinary combination of learning about the history and culture of the islands, exploring ashore, relaxing onboard, and enjoying the many water sports offered by the boat and crew. Our Peter Sommers guides were expert, engaging and fun to spend time with. The crew was superb and the chef created amazing meals.

Rating for tour operator:

Peter Sommers provided bespoke service of the highest order. It is clear that they take great care with all aspects of their trips - every detail reflected enormous thought and vetting. For those interested in learning the history of the regions of Turkey, Greece, Italy and the Dalmatian Coast, while traveling in first class accommodations aboard a classic Turkish gulet, Peter Sommers is a highly recommended choice.

Beautiful vistas, lovely accommodations, and fascinating outings

Our week was exactly what we were hoping for -- a happy combination of superb surroundings both on and off the boat, fascinating and enjoyable day outings, interesting people, all led by an informed local guide with great insight on the country and countryside. Because of the small size of the group, we never felt like part of a herd, yet because the boat was so spacious, we had plenty of time and space to nap, read, relax, or just think on our own, soaking up the expanse of sun, sea, and sky. And, then to jump each day into the inviting waters of the Mediterranean, made the entire week unforgettable! This was the ideal way to see a part of the world that I never would have known how to reach, and I know we saw and experienced things that a casual tourist could not re-create -- or even get to -- without the boat or the guide.

It's such a relaxed and enjoyable way to travel - beautiful blue seas & sky, lots of fresh food (and cold beer!), interesting archaeology & pretty harbours. An unexpected bonus this trip was to stay overnight in the sheltered anchorage of uninhabited Alimia - taking refuge from bad weather in a place used 2,300 years ago by the Rhodian fleet for that exact purpose. What a fascinating link to the past.
