Cruising the Coast of Dalmatia in style

Perfect number of guests (8), comfortable accommodation, gourmet meals and opportunity for swimming off the boat, relaxation on board, and an opportunity to learn through our knowledgeable and engaging guides. The best way to see Croatia is by sea, and our Peter Sommer tour exceeded all expectations with its well thought out itinerary, attention to detail, balance of activity and leisure, relaxed atmosphere and good fun. Much credit is due to all ground staff, guides and gulet crew for a perfect holiday.

Rating for tour operator:

This was the first time I had travelled with Peter Sommer. The company specialises in expert - led cultural and gulet tours in Europe. Group numbers are small, accommodation comfortable and food excellent. The expert guide who accompanied us was outstanding - passionate, informative, engaging and entertaining. The itinerary was very well thought out, combining leisure time with activity and not-to-be-missed opportunities to swim in the Adriatic sea off the gulet. The client is obviously at the heart of the itinerary planning, and attention to detail is second to none. I would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting a fun, relaxed, educational holiday with fine food -they will deliver!

Gulet cruise from Dubrovnik to Split taking in many beautiful and interesting islands along the way. We were two of eight passengers with an excellent guide and crew of 4 looking after us. The food was incredible with 3 courses plus wine for lunch and dinner. One of the best things was the lack of decision making required on our part. Everything was seen to. The food was incredible with 3 courses plus wine for lunch and dinner. One of the best things was the lack of decision making required on our part. Everything was seen to. Our tour guide was an expert in the archeology and history of the region and an inspiring story teller. She was backed up by local guides where appropriate. We were so impressed that the group is organising a further visit to the Greek islands through Peter Sommer with our same guide.

Rating for tour operator:

Very efficiant in planning and communicating details associated with the trip. We were picked up from our hotel in Dubrovnik and delivered to Split at the end of the cruise where we were staying for an extra night. One of the days had very inclement wetaher but the tour was easily modified to take account of this with consultation happening with the guests at all times.

fun, educational and relaxing

Although the archaeological focus of our trip encourages like-minded vacationers to sign up, our group of four couples turned out to be super compatible, enhancing the trip for each of us. The intimate gullet trip was wonderful. Weather cooperated; swimming off the gullet was good, if cool; and meals were delicious: fresh, local, and varied. Our guides were knowledgeable and lively, sharing the history of Croatia, both ancient and modern...

The intimate gullet trip was wonderful. Weather cooperated; swimming off the gullet was good, if cool; and meals were delicious: fresh, local, and varied. Our guides were knowledgeable and lively, sharing the history of Croatia, both ancient and modern. Our guides' personal stories of the 1991-1995 war were tragic, but they shed light on this horrible war. I highly recommend this trip and hope to sign up for another trip in the future.

Rating for tour operator:

Peter Sommer Travels organized and led us on an excellent trip. Everything went smoothly. Their knowledge of the boats, the crew, the ports, the restaurants, and the land transports was top-notch. The guide who was with us throughout was especially expert.

Cruising the coast of Dalmatia - a wonderful experience

The trip was full of activity, interest, good local food and wine, with a friendly and welcoming approach from our guides and boat crew. We learnt much of the history and current state of Croatia and the Dalmatian coast. The times spent cruising between destinations was relaxing and the chances to swim from the boat delightful.

Rating for tour operator:

We were always in touch throughout the tour. The programme was well thought through and went more or less according to plan, with necessary minor adjustments occurring occasionally. A real bonus was to have paid practically all costs up front, and so there was no need to worry about whether one had brought sufficient funds for multiple extras.

Cruising the Dodecanese for 2 weeks

This was my first tour with Peter Sommers and also the first time I have gone on a cruise. Cruising on a Turkish gulet really was very special, as was being able to swim off the side of the boat in the clear blue water of the Aegean Sea. The islands we visited all offered something different, whether it was an archaelogical site, a crusader castle or a volcano. The islands we visited all offered something different, whether it was an archaelogical site, a crusader castle or a volcano. I especially enjoyed the mix of Turkish food on board and Greek specialities on the islands we visited. The guides were both exceptionally knowlegable and went out of their way to ensure that everyone had the best possible experience. I would highly recommend Peter Sommers Travel, and this tour, to anyone wanting a special holiday experience.

Rating for tour operator:

Peter Sommer Travel - my first experience with them exceeded my expectations and I wouldn't hesitate to travel with them again. The tour was varied and interesting, the food was excellent and the guides were warm and extremely knowlegable. Every effort was made to accommodate peoples' differing needs.

"Walking and Cruising the Lycian Shore": an unforgettable experience

The holiday was an excellent mix of exercise, intellectual interest and relaxation - fine walks on and around sections of the Lycian Way, visiting often remote but fascinating archaeological sites, yet with ample time to enjoy the comfort, company and excellent cuisine on board the boat and the swimming from the boat. The trip had been thought through with care and was brilliantly organised. This part of Turkey is a peaceful and beautiful gem, far removed from the troubles of the world, and the locals are delightfully friendly and hospitable. Strongly recommended.

Rating for tour operator:

First rate planning and organisation, offering holidays that fully meet the description in the brochure. We have holidayed with the company before and will do so again.

Wonderful combination of walking, archaeology & relaxing on the boat

This was our third holiday with Peter Sommer and as good as ever. A wonderful combination of walking, archaeology & relaxing on the boat. The food was excellent, as were the leader, local guide and crew. Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

Walking and Crusing Southern Dalmatia

This was our second trip booked with Peter Sommer Travels, and , once again, a trip of a life time! Our guide Dr. Helena Tomas, is brilliant! We lived the history of each place we visited, through her vast knowledge , her passion and her deep love of her country. The Islands of the southern Dalmatia felt like a place lost in time. The beautiful limestone structures, the history that has endured centuries, and the quiet pace of the daily life...

Archaeology and more in the Cyclades.

A fortnight on a gulet with 16 passengers and two archaeologists, exploring ancient Greek sites. But more, walking through centuries old Greek villages, eating ashore as well as on board so we tasted food from different islands, swimming in the clear warm water of the Aegean, learning about the history of a country whose philosophy and literature have been such a huge part of our own culture. Rating for tour operator:

Peter Sommer runs a a highly professional organization. From his brochure to drop off at the airport to fly home his attention to detail and his consideration for his clients is superb. The archaeologists he uses as guides are erudite but highly personable and have an ability to turn a pile of stones into a recreation of the lives of the people who lived there over two millennia ago.

A wonderful way to learn about a country you are visiting

A well thought out itinerary which provided an informative and enjoyable experience no matter how much you already knew about the history and archeology of these beautiful islands. Heinrich and Maria are knowledgeable and personable and, quite frankly, delightful people! Peter Sommer Travels obviously take care in ensuring those who lead their tors are top notch.
