Wonderful self guided walk among the Ligurian Hills and then down to the coast
Our holiday was the 7 night, 6 day walking option which we really enjoyed. Part of the route follows the “Via del Sale” (Salt Road). We walked through some stunning scenery and the feeling of walking down to the coast on the last day was quite special. The holiday took us off the beaten track, staying with very friendly hosts. This gave us the opportunity to visit places and meet people we would never find by ourselves. Our bespoke walkers pack was prepared and sent in advance by On Foot and contained excellent useful local information along with extremely accurate route notes for each day's walk. Our luggage was transferred along the way and we stayed at super friendly, family run, excellent farms and hotels. For this walk on most days dinner, breakfast and packed lunches were supplied by our hosts using local ingredients cooked in local ways which is just how we like it.

This was the 5th walking holiday we have done with On Foot Holidays. As usual the communication, advise and organisation from On Foot was excellent. The On Foot office staff, the local contact and the individual hosts were very friendly and helpful. It was a slightly harder grade than we have done previously. The advise given by On Foot prior to us deciding to book this particular holiday was spot on.

Exploring Northern Portugal
A self-guided walking holiday through remote parts of the Peneda-Geres national park, passing through spectacular scenery and isolated villages.

On Foot Holidays, Salisbury. As always they provided a very personal, professional and immaculately organised holiday experience. They are very good at pre-departure and in-country information including detailed route notes and clear maps, and always respond very promptly to queries. On the ground in Portugal they have an excellent local contact who clearly knows the area and people well and was in touch with us every day.

A Pilgrimage on the Camino Primitivo
Our group of 4 walked the Camino Primitivo from Oviedo to Santiago de Compostela in May 2022. The trail went through quiet countryside and over mountains, where the vistas were breathtaking. About three days in, we realised why it was a "pilgrimage". Unlike other walking holidays, the consecutive days of long, undulating walks tested our resolve to continue. Old injuries flared up, and evenings were spent nursing aching limbs and painful blisters...

About three days in, we realised why it was a "pilgrimage". Unlike other walking holidays, the consecutive days of long, undulating walks tested our resolve to continue. Old injuries flared up, and evenings were spent nursing aching limbs and painful blisters. With some effort we persisted, helping each other along, and finding inspiration and camaraderie with the other pilgrims. Somehow, we completed the trail. Now we look back on the 320km we traversed with pride and satisfaction. We're not Catholics, nor are we particularly religious. But the Camino invited rumination, and refreshed us spiritually and mentally. On the trail they say "the Camino provides" - we found that it did, and continues to do so long after we said good bye to Santiago.

On Foot Holidays did an excellent job of planning and supporting our walk. Their local contact, Aznar was very attentive and friendly. He checked in on us regularly and offered many useful tips. The hotels, B&Bs and albergues we stayed in were clean and safe, and some (like Casa Camino in Merlan) were very special indeed.

Off the beaten track in northern Portugal.
After spending a few days in the lovely city of Porto, we had 10 days' walking in the mountains of the Peneda Geres national park in northern Portugal. The national park is blissfully free of mass tourism and the walking trails lead you through tiny, old granite villages surrounded by luscious green countryside. It remains very much an authentic, rural way of life here and this is reflected in the food and drink which is almost always locally ...

The national park is blissfully free of mass tourism and the walking trails lead you through tiny, old granite villages surrounded by luscious green countryside. It remains very much an authentic, rural way of life here and this is reflected in the food and drink which is almost always locally sourced. Accommodation ranges from very simple to surprisingly luxurious, but everywhere the people are friendly and welcoming. English is widely spoken, as well as French. All in all, a wonderful escape from the daily grind and the opportunity to see a part of 'real' Portugal that could not be more different from the tourist hot spots of the south.

This was our fifth holiday with OnFoot. We find them a delight to deal with - they are knowledgeable, helpful and very accommodating to individual preferences and requests. Nothing is ever too much trouble and one is given the feeling that each holiday has been created with great care and attention to detail. It is so nice to deal with a tour operator who knows your name and is always happy to spend time explaining, exploring alternative options and providing additional information.

Cornish Coastal Path Challenge
The coastal path walking was tough so it was great that we could trust On Foot to take care of all the logistics, so that we just had to turn up at our next destination and know our bags would be there waiting for us.

We have done several walking holidays with On Foot, both in Europe and the UK, and the service has always been exemplary.

Basque Pyrenees to San Sebastián
In short: OUTSDANDING. 9 nights (7 days of walking) through the beautiful Navarra and the Basque Country area, ending in San Sebastian. Breathtaking scenery, challenging (for me) walking on stunning trails with few, if any, other people around. Cozy, homey accommodation and superb food. Culturally fascinating. Hondarribia and San Sebastian are knock-your-socks off beautiful. The trip was off-the-charts and I may well walk it again one day.

I became aware of OnFoot after reading a travel article (published in 2019) in the Washington Post about their ‘Galicia – Lighthouse Way’ walk. Was immediately intrigued and booked the trip shortly thereafter. After Covid delays, in 2021 I walked the Lighthouse way and did the ‘Mallorca: Sierra de Tramuntana’ journey; both were absolutely FABULOUS. I’ve been hooked on OnFoot ever since. Besides the extremely well-planned itineraries, stunning (and challenging) walking, great accommodation, and food their service, client focus, and general competence have exceeded my expectations. I can reiterate this as I’ve now done four of their walks (added Andalucia and ‘Basque Country to San Sebastian’ walks this year). I travel on my own and OnFoot have an explicit policy of not over-charging single travelers, which I greatly appreciate. Finally, I find the trips to be extremely good value. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Andalucia (Spain): mountains, valleys and white-washed villages.
In short: OUTSDANDING. 8 nights (6 days of walking) through the beautiful Grazalema area, ending in Ronda. Breathtaking scenery, challenging (for me) walking on stunning trails with few, if any, other people around. Cozy, homey accommodation and superb food. And as an extra bonus perfect weather during the entire trip.
