Terrific hiking in Alpes Maritime

Terrific hiking - glorious peaceful countryside, wildlife and flowers, with the benefit of the clear and user friendly On Foot app. It's worth being properly fit to enjoy the longer hiking options. On Foot organisation and logistics are excellent. We had an issue with one hotel- the office swung into action to resolve it. Nothing but praise for the knowlgeable, fast, friendly and effective service from Ellen, Mary and Simon

Naxos and Amorgos by Marmite, 10 Jul 2024

Walking naxos and amorgos

Two totally different islands, Naxos is vibrant and full of life whilst amorgos was peaceful and tranquil. Walking was exhilarating in both places and we loved the contrasts of the different areas. Add in the small plane and ferry rides, what an experience! Loved it and we would go back again

Rating for tour operator:

On foot are helpful and talk you through everything you need to know from start to finish. The hotels they use are clean and well run and have quirks from the area they are in. Contacts in the area are supportive and available when you need them, can’t recommend enough.

Classic Slovenia

We walked through the Karst area of Slovenia and thoroughly enjoyed it. The walking was challenging but that is how we like it! We had clear instructions for every day. No complaints from us!

Rhine Valley Walk

7 days and 6 nights walk along the Rhine River through the Rhine Gorge from Lorch to Koblenz with hill climbs to magnificent castles and valley descents to ancient towns with regular views of scenic boats, ferries and barges travelling in both directions on the river. On Foot Holidays, based in Salisbury England, provided excellent communication and instructions from the first contact when considering the holiday to our return to Australia. The friendly and prompt service made planning and then enjoying the holiday easy. We will certainly use their services again.

Cliffs, woods, moors and views

Walking in June we had good weather with a route well planned and straightforward. Comprehensive notes and maps along with GPS files all help to reassure the walker. Despite being on the coast there was much that was inland with a variety of options and interests catered for. As with all live walking trails you are reliant on previous walkers recording changes, but no problems encountered, and there is access to a local agent if problems occur...

Accommodation was good to very good. Not our first walk with On Foot and not our last.

Contact both before and after the holiday was prompt, friendly and efficient with a necessary update being passed on before departure. Talking to the staff a number knew the route from having personally walked it.

Self guided walking holiday with baggage transfers

A great week of self guided walking in the Alpes Maritime, from La Brigue to Menton. We really enjoyed the challenging walking routes and paths up into and through the mountains. The scenery was often beautiful and sometimes spectacular. We stayed in lovely hotels which, while sometimes relatively basic in terms of the accommodation, were always wonderfully friendly and welcoming.

Went the extra mile in helping organise this holiday, in arranging such lovely places for us to stay, in providing very good walking guides and materials, and in being generally very friendly and efficient in communications and response to queries and feedback.

Lands End Circuit -So much more than a hike

We loved this walk with its spectacular costal scenery and so much culture and history to discover. The route is well planned and each day has something different to offer: St Michaels Mount, fishing villages, Minack Theatre, Lands End, stunning vast beaches, tin mining and more. I especially enjoyed seeing the tides, remote coves and a glimpse into earlier lifestyle of remote fishing villages. We stayed an extra day in St Ives and could have stayed longer with its plentiful art, surf and culinary scenes.

Beautiful and unspoilt islands

We had a fabulous time and absolutely loved Naxos and Amorgos. It was a little bit like going back in time to a more simple life. The walks were wonderful and loved the little villages where there was always a little taverna where we could get some lunch.

Excellent communication and walking notes. We had an issue towards the end of the holiday with high winds which meant we had to bring our ferry crossing forward by one day, otherwise we would have missed our flight. On Foot were so helpful and arranged alternative accommodation for us on Mykonos. I couldn't fault them.
