Vikos Gorge by Magnetic north, 1 Oct 2024

Walking the Vikos gorge and surrounding area in Zagora, Greece

A week's hiking in Zagora, including the Vikos gorge, organised with On Foot Travel. I'm a keen and fit walker, but should add that I'm sixty, but the walks were exactly the right blend of adventure and enjoyment, with alternatives for most days if you felt you needed a rest. The walk through the Vikos gorge was one of the highlights of fifty years of walking - hard, but so spectacular that at some points it quite literally took my breath away...

Rating for tour operator:

I hadn't been with them before, but their itineraries attracted me as they're all self-guided walks in areas which are not heavily touristed. The instructions for the walks were meticulous and their attention to detail exemplary. The small family run hotels were full of character and interest, and the entire week went without a single hitch. A holiday of a lifetime (I should add that I'm well-travelled!) and one that will live long in my memory.

Excellent organisation from start to finish. Lots of useful pre travel info. Walk notes on paper, maps and the information/ navigation on the smartphone app were very helpful. Accommodation of a high standard. A well designed holiday package!

Ligurian Hills by Imme, 30 Sep 2024

Adventurous walk in stunning scenery with friendly local hospitality

A self guided 6 day hike in the Ligurian hills through vineyards, woodland and open ridgeways. Staying in rural B&Bs and lovely hotels in the towns on the route. Finishing in Camogli on the Italian Riviera. The route included parts of the via del sale an ancient trading route between Genoa and the alps.

This is our second holiday with on foot. Everyone is knowledgeable about the trips they offer and extremely helpful and quick with responses to questions. Communication is superb and on both holidays we had very good local representatives. Can’t praise on foot highly enough.

Rating for tour operator:

On Foot were excellent in every respect. They were responsive in the booking period, helped us with several additional queries and their choice of hotels and Walking notes were first rate. They compared very favourably with other companies we have used in this sector.

Classic Slovenia Walking Holiday

We walked from Ljubljana to Trieste on a route devised and described by OnFoot and guided by a comprehensive narrative, map and app (including gps). All hotels were arranged by OnFoot who also arranged extra nights at some hotels in accordance with our wishes.

Rating for tour operator:

We have walked with OnFoot on 4 occasions and have always been well looked after. The pre holiday information is clear and timely, all calls and emails are answered promptly and everyone we have had dealings with has been friendly and professional. We were well supported throughout the holiday with our local guide taxiing us to the start of the walk and providing really interesting information. An email to the office was responded to within an hour and fully addressed my query.

Green Greece

After arriving in the Arcadia mountains, we were met by the most lovely people from start to finish. The walking was beautiful and challenging, but that just made every beer at the end taste even better. Every place we stayed was different, and all with amazing views. Its our second trip with OnFoot and they didn't disappoint.

Great communication and excellent planning. Enough clear information, but not overwhelming. Not had any problems on both our trips so far.

Communicative before the trip. Sent a wealth of materials regarding the trip. Also have an on the ground host to help with issues that arise, restaurant reservations, etc.

The beautiful Rhineland on foot

A multi-day self-guided walking tour along the most beautiful part of the river Rhine. Luggage transfers, routes all included. Some tough walking in hot weather but well worth it!

Very impressive. Engaging from the start, incredibly quick to respond to queries. Provided lots of useful information and tips. Having a local contact was reassuring, although not needed. Would not hesitate to use them again.

Walking holiday near Lake Maggiore with Onfoot Holidays

We had a lovely week exploring both the known and less well known areas around Lake Maggiore. That is the beauty of an Onfoot walking holiday - the chance to get away from the main tourist destinations and experience more remote places, in the knowledge that there is a local contact on hand should you need them. We added a couple of days in Milan at the start and a couple of days at Lake Orta at the end to make a perfect combination of locations...

The customer service from Onfoot is outstanding - every email responded to within a few hours and great attention to detail. They advise on itineraries and provide detailed instructions on how to get to and from the walks, on the routes themselves and lots of background information to help you get the most out of your holiday. We cannot fault them.
