we had a well designed independent walking holiday with good information and arrangements which all worked extremely well. the service was also reasonably priced our feedback to the organisation was interactive - so we can see that they use continuous improvement for their operation

A great walking holiday
We had a wonderful week on Lopud, Sirpan and in Dubrovnic. Everything went well and our hosts were welcoming and helpful. We were met at the airport and taken to the ferry. In Lopud our host, Gabi met us and took us to our lovely little flat with a balcony overlooking a pretty little garden. We were late in the season so unfortunately the only supermarket had closed for the winter the day before. Gabi very kindly made us picnic lunches for our walking days. She also provided us with a full breakfast every morning which really set us up for the day! We ate out in the Glavović, the only restaurant open in the evening and enjoyed freshly caught fish and local wine. It is well worth a visit as the service is friendly and the food excellent. On the first day we climbed up to the fort and had amazing views across the bay and the island. The map kept us on track and we only got lost a couple of times. We loved the little chapels which nestle among the hills. Our second day took us round the south side of the island and that was my favourite walk. We stopped several times to sit and just absorb the view and the peace. We got our swim at Sunj and the water was warm and clear. There is a cash machine in Lopud. In Sirpan our hotel stay was luxurious and we enjoyed using the pool after a hard day’s walking. The weather was overcast but we had two great walks up in the hills. There were glorious views of the sea along the high paths on the way up towards Luka. We were also incredibly lucky to find the church at Pakljena open as it was so beautiful inside. We were sad to leave the islands but Dubrovnik was interesting and quite different. We were taken to our apartment in the old city. It was quiet and central and spotlessly clean. We took the cable car to the fort and looked at the exhibition about the war. We thought it could have been made more interesting if there had been a narration explaining the history and video footage but it was still worth a visit. On our last day we explored Dubrovnic, walking round the walls and sightseeing in the city.

On Foot Holidays is an excellent tour operator. I particularly appreciated being able to talk through our holiday with their team. They were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They were really interested in finding exactly the right kind of walking holiday for us. Our information pack with tour details and maps arrived in good time and they telephoned just before we left to make sure we had everything we needed.

Apparently it is nearly always shut. We were sad to leave the islands but Dubrovnik was interesting and quite different. We took the cable car to the fort and looked at the exhibition about the war. We thought it could have been made far more interesting if there had been a narration explaining the history and video footage. We took a day out to go to Montenegro. Darko escorted us and was very knowledgeable about Croatian history and about Montenegro itself. He took us to Kotor where we had a wonderful time exploring the old town. The route we took was beautiful and the weather was perfect. On our last day we explored Dubrovnic, walking round the walls and sightseeing in the city. Thanks to all the team for putting together such a worthwhile and fun holiday, and to all out hosts who took such care of us and made our trip so memorable.

Viator were extremely good at making our holiday run smoothly. They were very helpful in their advice about such things as where to eat and arranged a special trip into Montenegro for us. Our guide was knowledgeable and pleasant and made the day fun. Our appartment was spotlessly clean and its central location made exploring the city easy.

Amalfi
It was a walking trip of the Amalfi Coast. We walk ed "Path of the Gods" and it was truly spectacular but not for the amateur hiker.

Excellent maps and route instructions plus some very relevant and useful practical advice given in a booklet, received prior to the start of the holiday. Our luggage transported, I loved the variety of walking from place to place and was able to enjoy the delightful company of my son and his girlfriend (who live and work in Rome). The accommodation ranged from a stylish Palazetta in one of the most picturesque medieval hilltop towns to a remote Agriturisimo with delicious homely food. All the places we stayed were comfy and clean, and we were made to feel very welcome. We covered 10-15 km most days which meant we could savour and absorb the countryside and villages we passed through. One day we attended and enjoyed an Italian cookery session.

Always pleasant and efficient. Lovely to deal with Made you feel special and cared for-all communication, whether by email, telephone or letter was very personal. Pre-holiday information and advice given was all very relevant and helpful, as well as professional; it inspired confidence.

Completely successful
We had been worried that it might all have been too much for us: one of us in midseventies and the other midsixties. However there was sound and accurate information about the degree of difficulty to be faced each day with mitigating alternative routes suggested. The hotels were friendly and our info package provided many suggestions for really good restaurants. I am sure we saw many extraordinary things in Amalfi which few visitors ever have ...

Onfoot Holidays did a thorough job of briefing us and it was a pleasure to deal with them. The route software which they provided and which we downloaded into our Iphone GPS system was very helpful from time if we wanted to be sure we were following the route properly.

Everything was professionally organised, no hiccups , hotels knew we were coming and our baggage was collected each day and arrived in the room that day in the next place. We were not experienced hikers although we have done a lot of walking so we were pleased to have the maps and to be taken to places and areas that the normal tourist wouldn't know. We chatted to locals in their houses, walked through olive groves, climbed steeped terraces and experienced spectacular views. The weather was amazing. We felt energised with all the new smells, sounds and experiences and can't wait to do another. OnFoot were really great- very professional and friendly. To sum up - we would sit at the end of a long walking day looking out over Amalfi harbour with a lovely glass of local wine , then look up the escarpment and think - we climbed that today!

Slovenia to Italy in the Karst Country
Never had a walking holiday but enjoyed the walks and had good weather. The walking notes were generally excellent with one or two ambiguous instructions. Marij washing machine is a godsend but the price is now 4Euros and the Villa Opicina tram is now 1.3Euro/person

Very good at communicating either by e-mail or phone despite the fact we live on different continents
Good valid points, thank you John. Notes duly amended and we will look at the intermediate waypoint idea. We know those woods!
