A Glorious Autumnal Holiday

Self guided walking in some beautiful unspoilt countryside in the hills north of Rome. Excellent maps and route instructions plus some very relevant and useful practical advice given in a booklet, received prior to the start of the holiday. Our luggage transported, I loved the variety of walking from place to place and was able to enjoy the delightful company of my son and his girlfriend (who live and work in Rome). The accommodation ranged from a stylish Palazetta in one of the most picturesque medieval hilltop towns to a remote Agriturisimo with delicious homely food. All the places we stayed were comfy and clean, and we were made to feel very welcome. We covered 10-15 km most days which meant we could savour and absorb the countryside and villages we passed through. One day we attended and enjoyed an Italian cookery session.

Rating for tour operator:

Always pleasant and efficient. Lovely to deal with Made you feel special and cared for-all communication, whether by email, telephone or letter was very personal. Pre-holiday information and advice given was all very relevant and helpful, as well as professional; it inspired confidence.

Completely successful

We had been worried that it might all have been too much for us: one of us in midseventies and the other midsixties. However there was sound and accurate information about the degree of difficulty to be faced each day with mitigating alternative routes suggested. The trip could not have been organized more effectively

Onfoot Holidays did a thorough job of briefing us and it was a pleasure to deal with them. The route software which they provided and which we downloaded into our Iphone GPS system was very helpful from time if we wanted to be sure we were following the route properly.

The walk started in Amalfi and we did various local walks and then along the coast to Praiano, Positano , Sant Agata and finishing in Sorrento. On Foot organised all the hotels, baggage transfers and provided maps and walking guides for each day. Everything was professionally organised, no hiccups , hotels knew we were coming and our baggage was collected each day and arrived in the room that day in the next place. We were not experienced hikers although we have done a lot of walking so we were pleased to have the maps and to be taken to places and areas that the normal tourist wouldn't know. We chatted to locals in their houses, walked through olive groves, climbed steeped terraces and experienced spectacular views. The weather was amazing. We felt energised with all the new smells, sounds and experiences and can't wait to do another. OnFoot were really great- very professional and friendly. To sum up - we would sit at the end of a long walking day looking out over Amalfi harbour with a lovely glass of local wine , then look up the escarpment and think - we climbed that today!

Slovenia to Italy in the Karst Country

Never had a walking holiday but enjoyed the walks and had good weather. The walking notes were generally excellent with one or two ambiguous instructions. The GPS track and the downloaded maps got us out of trouble twice. One suggestion when you are walking through scrubby woods between stone walls it would be nice to have some intermediate way points. It would allow you to know where you are in the walking notes have a map reference. The ...

The GPS track and the downloaded maps got us out of trouble twice. One suggestion when you are walking through scrubby woods between stone walls it would be nice to have some intermediate way points. It would allow you to know where you are in the walking notes have a map reference. The tourist farms are quite varied but the accommodation was excellent. Marij washing machine is a godsend but the price is now 4Euros and the Villa Opicina tram is now 1.3Euro/person

Very good at communicating either by e-mail or phone despite the fact we live on different continents

Good valid points, thank you John. Notes duly amended and we will look at the intermediate waypoint idea. We know those woods!

Stunningly beautiful walking tour of Amalfi Coast with side trips to Capri and Pompeii

Rating for tour operator:

Our vacation organized by On Foot Holidays was everything I had hoped for and more. We had an absolutely fantastic trip and within 24 hrs of arriving home from Italy I was on On Foot's website looking to see where we could go next. We were extremely happy with the route notes, the luggage transfers, the support, and most importantly, the accommodations. Initially we weren't quite sure what to make of On Foot Holidays because no one we knew had ever heard of them (we live in the U.S.); we only came across them after a Google search, but from our first inquiry through countless others, On Foot was friendly and responsive and it was clear they stood behind their product.

Thanks Elise - particularly for putting your trust in a company no-one has heard of!

Everywhere we went the locals were friendly, for the most part we ate well, slept well and returned fit and refreshed. It worked well to add on a few days in Barcelona, only 1 1/2 hours away by bus from the final destination.

Rating for tour operator:

We are regular walkers with On Foot and find that their service is second to none. They take the trouble to cater for each customer as individuals and design each holiday to suit any special circumstances if at all possible. The routes are wonderfully planned and every detail is taken care of; from baggage handling to special diets and from transport advice to local information on fauna and flora. Care is taken to choose accommodation with a personal touch wherever possible, a variety of individual guesthouses that you would never find yourself but are just right. Good food is a priority too. There are comprehensive walking notes and maps so you never get lost but can just enjoy the walking.

Wonderful walking the Rhine Valley

Walking from Bingen to Koblenz following the Rhine. Staying in hotels & two castles along the way. Luggage transfer, hotels & food all excellent, as was the wine! In spite of the wine our walking instructions were perfect & we managed not to get lost.

Walking is such a fabulous way to get off the beaten track, leave the crowds behind and really experience this part of the world. For independent walkers this was the perfect balance of interesting terrain, quality organisation and support, and comfortable accommodation.

Rating for tour operator:

Very efficient and responsive. We were lucky enough to be able to take longer than the advertised time for this trip and On Foot tailored an extended itinerary specially for us. They provide extremely comprehensive information including very accurate and detailed notes for each days walking. They get it just right in terms of accommodation and support. All arrangements like luggage transfer, transport etc work like clockwork. This is the second year we have used them and they will definitely be our first port of call in the future.
