An exploration of Swedens forests, lakes and mountains

This was a search for many of the elusive birds and animals to be found in central Sweden, including Elk, Great Grey Owl and Three-toed Woodpecker. We travelled widely visiting a wide variety of habitats and experiencing every kind of weather from sunny evenings to mountain blizzards. We saw just about everything we were hoping for and many things besides. People were friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. A great holiday!

Varied enjoyable holiday in the Bavarian Alps

Wonderful flowers, varied programme, knowledgeable and extremely helpful tour leaders. Super hotel with great food and friendly staff. Lovely grounds including an open-air spring water Kneippanlage - perfect for hot tired limbs at the end of the day (and free!)

Nature trek understands our needs and exceeds our expectations. Our extension to visit friends was facilitated by them and the arrangements were perfect. The Bavarian Alps seemed to suit us and we came home with a feeling of wellbeing.

Spring plants (and birds) of the Bavarian Alps

A superb week spent in Bavaria gently walking in the beautiful wild flower meadows of Bavaria lead by a botanical expert. Accommodation was in a quiet, friendly and comfortable hotel set in stunning mountain scenery.

Bear Bliss in Abruzzo

I had a week in the Abruzzo National Park with Naturetrek, during which we walked through meadows of wonderful wildflowers, observed many local species of Birds, and Butterflies, and came across several Mammals. We also experienced superb local food during our legendary Naturetrek picnics! We also experienced superb local food during our legendary Naturetrek picnics! Our hotel, the Aubergo Paradiso, was perfect as our base for the weeks expeditions, and we were exceedingly well looked after by our Hosts Geraldine and Marco. Their Menu was very varied, and very plentiful! The absolute highlight of the week, though, has to be our sighting of both a Male and Female Marsican Bear! This was on our last evening, and I think everyone had resigned themselves to not seeing Bears on this trip. However, due to the sharp eyes of one of the Guides, we were treated to at least half an hour watching these wonderful Animals! What a high we were all on! Altogether, an absolutely great trip.

Beautiful Bavarian Alps

Excellent accommodation in a beautifully located hotel with good food. A first rate selection of walks which gave a very good experience of the flora and fauna of the area. Group leaders were very knowledgeable and had researched the activities in advance so that everything ran like clockwork. Leaders also related well to all members of the group so that the overall experience was very enjoyable.

The tour leaders listened carefully to everyone's requests and quietly and quickly ensured that they were delt with. Activities were varied to accommodate novice and experienced botanists and programmes changed to take into account exceptionally high temperatures. The hotel facilities were very good and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Fantastic amount of birds shown to us by our very clever guides

We had an extremely enjoyable and very well organised trip to Romania and saw many wonderful and colourful birds and of course the black bears and some enchanting sousliks! The boat was very comfortable and we really appreciated no phones and no wi-fi for a short while!

This is our fourth trip with Naturetrek and I would have no hesitation in recommending them as they are extremely efficient down to the last detail. We have been to Tasmania, Madagascar and the Arctic as well as Romania and have thoroughly enjoyed all the trips.

Birds of the Mountains and Plains of Slovakia

Outstanding organisation and excellent tour leaders made this a very special holiday. The English leader was very knowledgeable and worked hard to ensure everyone was included. The local guide was outstanding in his knowledge of all things Slovakian - culture, history, and all the natural environment and arranged for other local guides, who lived in the areas visited, to take us to exceptional locations.
