The crew, expedition staff and Naturetrek guides were excellent in their knowledge, desire to ensure everyone experienced the best wildlife experiences whilst making sure of everyones safety and comfort. A trip like this means the itinerary cannot be set in stone asit is dictated by the weather and the wildlife. We were extremely lucky that the weather was kind to us and with a few diversions we saw everything on 'the list'!

Rating for tour operator:

Naturetrek are an extremely professional outfit dedicated to providing the best wildlife/birding experience within their control to every client. The organisation of the trip was superb and their tour leaders are extremely knowledgable and are happy to pass on that knowledge in a very friendly manner.

Antarctica, The Falklands and South Georgia Anniversary Cruise

This three weeek trip aboard MV Ortelius took us to some of the wildest, most remote and beautiful places on earth in order to experience some of the world's greatest concentration of wildlife including mammals, cetaceans, penguin colonies and a multitude of other birds. This three weeek trip aboard MV Ortelius took us to some of the wildest, most remote and beautiful places on earth in order to experience some of the world's greatest concentration of wildlife including mammals, cetaceans, penguin colonies and a multitude of other birds. We landed at various destinations including small islands and the Antarctic Peninsula itself using zodiacs. We also did a zodiac cruise amongst the icebergs, landing on floating ice briefly. We walked with guides and had time to simply sit and soak up the wonders of being amidst half a million penguins and other inquisitive wildlife. We enjoyed the sunrise and sunset. Our experiences were truly awesome and utterly memorable.

Rating for tour operator:

Naturetrek guides are outstanding wildlife specialists. The knowledge and expertise of their guides greatly enriches every magical encounter with the natural world. They are also all very lovely people. All Naturetrek staff are efficient, knowledgable, responsive and helpful in every possible way. The background research they undertake and the destinations they offer together with their pre-departure information give clients the best opportunity of sightings and close encounters with wildlife. Despite their expanding size they always give a very personal service and their open days make it feel as though one is a member of a wildlife group rather than simply a tour client.

3 Weeks in Falklands and the Antartic

This was a wildlife cruise around the Antarctic on MV Ortelius, a reinforced ship capable of breaking ice. The trip was planned by Naturetrek. Between Naturetrek staff and the ship's captain unforeseen problems were solved and all participants were informed of the few changes to the itinerary. Between Naturetrek staff and the ship's captain unforeseen problems were solved and all participants were informed of the few changes to the itinerary. I am an octogenarian and I was able to take part in Zodiac trips to safe landing places. Imagine standing amongst 750,000 King Penguins and within a short distance of Fur and Elephant Seals. The rule is keep 5m away from the penguins but they do not understand human rules. More species of penguins were encountered plus about 100 species of birds from albatrosses to small storm petrels. 16 species of whales and dolphins were recorded. The accommodation, facilities and food were excellent. Well done Naturetrek it was the best wildlife holiday out of over 70 that I have been on.

Rating for tour operator:

Naturetrek organised trips into nature reserves at Buenos Aires and Ushaia in order to fill in time between aeroplane flights so the trip was very well organised. Naturetrek staff and MV Ortelius staff organised lectures especially when we were travelling out of sight of land. The whole trip was very well organised.

I have travelled regularly with Naturetrek for c 30 years. They are now a large and successful company in this specialist field but still base their tours on knowledgeable leaders who work hard to ensure participants have a good wildlife experience. Pre departure info and organisation are of a professional standard.

Great birds, food and wine, and best of all - Iberian Lynx!

I travelled across the globe from Australia to join Naturetrek's Iberian Lynx tour, hoping for a sighting of the world's rarest cat. The odds of a sighting were even at best, but I'd heard that Naturetrek had a good track record. After two days of great birdwatching in Coto Donana it looked like we'd lucked out, but on the third day a male crossed the road in front of our vehicle, dragging a freshly killed rabbit. The odds of a sighting were even at best, but I'd heard that Naturetrek had a good track record. After two days of great birdwatching in Coto Donana it looked like we'd lucked out, but on the third day a male crossed the road in front of our vehicle, dragging a freshly killed rabbit. We backed off to let it consume its breakfast then returned shortly after for stellar views of it licking its chops and grooming before ambling off into the undergrowth. The group's relief was palpable and we all felt we had joined an exclusive club that day.

Rating for tour operator:

Organisation, catering and guides were all excellent. Guides remained cheerful and optimistic throughout, no service was too difficult for them and no reasonable request went unanswered.

Birding in Caribbean comfort

We stayed for a week in the gorgeous location of St. Lucia. Each day we were taken by minibus to different bird habitats which inevitably meant we were able to see a large chunk of the island itself, its inhabitants and local life. Boat trips featured as well, resulting in the thrill of sightings of whales and dolphins. In addition we had time each day to enjoy the facilities of our lovely hotel - fantastic food, legendary Caribbean beaches and sea, and plenty of time to relax in whichever way we chose. Our hotel package meant that food and non-alcoholic drinks were available at no cost. The fruit punch and banana colada were to die for after a hot morning's birding! We had to remind ourselves it was actually January.

Rating for tour operator:

Naturetrek's brochure and website provide very detailed information about their trips, although any further queries are always answered promptly. We have found their tour guides excellent - they know their subject and are personable. This includes the local guides which Naturetrek often uses; their local knowledge is invaluable. Naturetrek guides seem to be aware of the needs of their whole group - no-one is left out either socially or when it comes to seeing something in particular. My experience of Naturetrek groups is that they mingle well, all of which adds to the enjoyment and fun of spending time with other people who share a common interest.

Great experience in Poland snowy landscape

I took the Poland in Winter Naturetrek tour, and had a wonderful time. I had an opportunity to enjoy the snowy landscape; view elk, bison, roe deer, and wild boar; experience a forest feast with a roasted wild boar, go on a sleigh ride, and spend several hours viewing wildlife from a high seat at the edge of a forest. The tour guides were informative and entertaining. This was my sixth Naturetrek tour, and every one was great. I recommend ...

The tour guides were very informative and entertaining. I have known Sinclair Dunnett for over ten years, and he is actually the reason I joined this trip. The Polish guide, Piotr, was also excellent, and the other local guides were very good, too.
