Wildlife watching holiday in Northern Spain - well guided and well presented

Very helpful with good communication skills

We had 3 days at Alquezar, a picturesque Spanish town with a castle and surrounded by cliffs. In February the only inhabitants are the birds, including wallcreepers; there seem to be almost no people there! The best day was when we went to view the Griffon Vultures and Bearded Vultures being fed on the hillside. A golden eagle and a green hairstreak butterfly were welcome extras. Then we had 3 days at Lake Gallocanta, also a bleak and empty place, but very beautiful at dawn when we went to view the thousands of cranes sheltering there on their migration route. The highlight was the dawn singing of Dupont's larks, eerie and haunting, but they are impossible to see as they hide in the long grass. Sunny, bright weather in February - what more could you ask?

Naturetrek is very organised and thorough, and certainly choose excellent places to run their tours. The tour leaders we have had on 4 separate holidays have all been very likeable and knowledgeable people. Hotels are comfortable without being unnecessarily luxurious. We have always enjoyed the food, both at the hotels and the picnic lunches which are always served in amazingly scenic places.

Naturetreks is a well known and reputable company and we have travelled win them before but only in the UK.

You can not go to South Georgia and the Antarctic without being impressed.It was reinforced by the deserted islands and rookeries, we visited, they were magic. I think we had really good luck with us, as we saw as many wales and Orcas as anybody could wish for. The lectures and informative films,we were treated to, were an important part of the pleasures of the zodiac excursions, understanding either the creatures we were looking at or the places of historic interest.

Naturtrek was all one could wish for, they promised and they delivered.

We travelled with Naturetrek to Tanzania visiting Arusha, Lake Manyara, Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. The Wildlife sightings were simply amazing, Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, thousands & thousands of Zebra & Wildebeest, fantastic bird sightings and highlights of 12 Lions in one tree and Wildebeest calving. Tour guides were 1st rate, very friendly and knowledgeable, accommodation was fantastic with views in Tarangire & Ngorongoro outstanding, food excellent and spending a couple of nights in tented accommodation very special. The whole holiday was a fantastic experience, well run, and excellent itinerary.

I have travelled with Naturetrek on 4 occasions and always found them to be very professional company. Their pre-tour information is excellent, their itineraries are well planned and maximise the opportunity to see wildlife but also combine with excellent local knowledge on culture, geography, and specific country information making the whole experience 1st rate. I would highly recommend them.

This was a very well organised holiday. Transfers between the different hotels was managed smoothly. Accommodation was as described on the website so there were no unpleasant surprises. Our local guide optimised birding opportunities despite unexpected heavy rain over four days. Meal arrangements gave us a chance to socialise and the size of the group....we were twelve.....meant that we got to know each other really well. The tour director, Richard Bashford, travelled with us from Heathrow and his organisational skills,sense of humour and overall people skills were exceptional. Only one small criticism: pre departure information said that the meal on the first night was not included. We didn't realise that this meant no meal would be served on the five hour flight from Newark to San Jose to those in Economy! A direct flight would also greatly improve the holiday experience.

This was my second trip with Naturetrek. I would certainly use them again.

This birding trip lived up to expectations. It included some of the best wildlife watching I have done. The birds were brilliant, especially the hummingbirds. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly. The Lodge at Pico Bonito was a great place to stay. In all, it was a delightful holiday.

I have travelled with Naturetrek a number of times and will do so again in the future. In fact, since I got back from my most recent trip, I have booked another holiday with them! They are experts in providing wildlife trips.

As always, organised, informative and responsive and provided excellent knowledgeable and personable leaders.

2 weeks in South Africa combining Cricket (SA v Enlgand ODIs in J'burg & Cape Town) with safari in the Kruger and a nature tour of the Cape region. Multi-centred with expert guides on hand. This was an excellent holiday. We saw 300 different species of birds and countless other animals - not just "the big 5'. Can't recommend it enough.

Naturetrek are accomplished operators in the area of wildlife based holidays. Their South African partners were equally skilled at providing expertise on the ground. We were looked after from start to finish.

This holiday was all about winter photography of forest birds in Sweden. The opportunities for seeing and photographing these specialist and often difficult to view birds was excellent and anyone that wishes to see and photograph these rare denizens of the forest will not be disappointed by the Sweden in Winter trip with Naturetrek. Excellent accommodation with good food. Excellent tour leader. What more could one ask for. Superb trip all round with no complaints.
