Uplifting Lofotens
I took a short wildlife holiday in Norway's Lofoten Islands with a small group of people led by our excellent leader Neil McMahon. The weather was not the best but this didn't put us off and we travelled on road and boat to see as much wildlife as we could. It did not disappoint, with some awesome birds which were on all our wish lists-White-tailed sea eagles, a Bluethroat, Divers, Mergansers and Goosanders and many others. We took to the water to see a blowing Sperm whale and hoards ofPpuffins. Accommodation was in cabins in beautiful Reine and en-suite rooms in wonderful Andoya. The going was easy and all the effort of finding the wildlife was willingly undertaken by our knowledgeable leader, so all we had to do was enjoy and take pictures.

Stunning views and fantastic butterflies
What an amazing holiday. This part of Switzerland, our base being in Wengen, has stunning views and we saw all of them! The hotel was family run and welcoming. The food to a superb standard. And our guide for the week, Jon, was humorous, patient, and a wildlife expert extraordinaire. We saw over 90 butterfly species, quite incredible really. Another superb Naturetrek holiday.

Nature watching in the Camargue
Wonderful .... learning through seeing, hearing and doing .... ideal base with good accommodation, wonderful choice for breakfast and delicious evening meals. Everyday had been thought through carefully to give a range of experiences and opportunities. The expertise of the guides and the superb lunches ensured the holiday was really special.

The scenery and walks were stunning,There was something of interest to be seen and studied even when it rained on the first two days. As you can guess, yes it was a successful holiday and would thoroughly recommend to anybody who has an interest in Plants,Butterflies,Moths and Birds. My husband and I learnt so much over one week.

Spitsbergen - Realm of the Polar Bear
Amazing holiday, exceeded our expectations. The journey out to the pack ice was an incredible experience, we went much further north than we expected to. The scenery and the wildlife in Svalbard was incredible, one of the highlights was the polar bears on a kill on an iceberg. The guides both Naturetrek and the ships were first class, helpful and very knowledgeable.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Naturetrek to anybody, we are looking forward to our second trip with the company in November. Impressed with the company's organisation, from booking to the holiday itself, nothing was too much trouble for them.

Alderney Wildlife & History and The Best of Dorset’s Wildlife

With The Best of Dorset’s Wildlife we found our guides insightful , the scenery stunning and the other guests a pleasure to share the experience with can not rate the whole experience high enough. Both Byron and Alison Steel were excellent and very attentive leaders and contributed greatly to our enjoyment of the tour. Both tours catered for all , had terrific accommodation and the transport bus was comfortable, hosts went above and beyond, the tour content was extensive while not being overly a burden to keep up with and the guides knowledge along with the additional experts added greatly to the our overall enjoyment of the tours.

The Naturetrek experts in birds, mammals and plants were supplemented by Oceanwide expedition crew with their own expertise in Arctic wildlife, ice and polar bears. The itinerary was flexible according to weather and ice conditions and we went as far north as possible in search of polar bears, seeing 11, with wonderful views over drift ice, the third largest ice sheet in the world and stunning views of the Svalbard coast. Many glaciers are in retreat with global warming and the threat to wildlife and the planet was clear to all. With the expert help of our leaders we saw Blue whale, Humpback whale, walrus, arctic fox and numerous seabirds scarcely seen in the UK, and most days had at least one expedition ashore in zodiacs to search for wildlife and see the habitation left by hunters in the past. The food and comfort aboard the Ortelius was excellent, adding to a truly memorable experience.

The information supplied by Naturetrek in advance lived up to expectations in every way. The leaders were on hand at the airports to sort out ticketing and luggage issues, as well as providing daily briefings about wildlife seen and on hand on deck and on shore to help identify plants and birds and provide assistance when needed eg with life jackets etc. Oceanwide expedition leaders in charge of the zodiacs ensured we were safe on shore as well as providing talks on board ship. Everything was well organised and smoothly run.
