An adventure in Sardinia
I am not an experienced traveller so going to Sardinia as part of a group to see the Dragonflies and Butterflies of the island was a reassuring way to go on a holiday with a difference.

Naturetrek provided comprehensive and detailed joining instructions and itinerary. All the travel arrangements were well thought out and the hotels were of a high standard. The two guides who accompanied us (a party of 13 travellers) were friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable about all the various types of plants and animals we encountered on the trip.

Natue of the Cevenne
A week based in a wonderful hotel in the Cevenne area of France. Two excellent leaders took us to some great flower and birding sites. Good food, good wine and good company.

Naturetrek specialise in small group nature holidays, I have traveled with them five times and never been disappointed. Always have excellent leaders with a good knowledge of the area and it's wildlife.

Orchids birds lizards mosaics
Wonderful mix of birds of all kinds, orchids, endemic plants, lizards and invertebrates; add to this the varied landscapes of coast, mountains and saltmarsh, interspersed with ancient ruins and mosaics. Just what I wanted, along with some good Cypriot food and wine...

A very efficiently-run holiday from the pick-up at the airport to the drop-off at the end of the week. And all expertly delivered by our friendly and knowledgeable leaders, Cliff and Yiannis.

Romanians Danube Delta and Carpathian Mountains

Orchid delights
Andrew our knowledgeable and excellent tour guide showed us the botanical delights of the Gargano Peninsular of Southern Italy and gave us a wonderful opportunity to see the huge variety of orchids that grow in this area. The holiday exceeded our expectations and we would certainly travel with Naturetrek again.

Fabulous flowers and feathered friends
A wonderful week in the amazing Cevennes hills of France. We stayed in a friendly family hotel in a beautiful quiet village. Our guides took us to different areas each day and introduced us to the fantastic range of wild flowers and birds. They were vey knowledgeable and helpful - and gave us superb picnic lunches!

Naturetrek is quite a big operator that offers very many trips all over the world but I felt gave a helpful and personal service, quickly responding to queries. At the end of our holiday they went to some lengths to track us down as we had left some items behind at the hotel - we were not flying out with the group.

A voyage to St Kilda and the Hebrides, islands on the edge of the Atlantic
Naturetrek had taken over the Hebrides Cruises vessel, Elizabeth G for a week to travel from Oban to St Kilda with a very impressive and experienced guide, whose knowledge of the local sealife was extensive. Combined with the boat's splndid crew and glorious weather, this made for a memorable trip, punctuated with whales, dolphins, basking sharks, endless seabirds, eagles, stunning scenery, superb food and comfortable quarters. Combined with the boat's splndid crew and glorious weather, this made for a memorable trip, punctuated with whales, dolphins, basking sharks, endless seabirds, eagles, stunning scenery, superb food and comfortable quarters. Our nightly anchorages were quiet and perfect for sunset watching, with the possibility of otters at dusk and dawn. St Kilda itself is a very special place with its long and ultimately sad history, its extraordinary high and steep cliffs and stacks, its puffins, guillemots and gannets by the thousands and the people working to restore and research for the benefit of everyone. To walk among the abandoned cottages and to climb to the highest point with all the beauty around was a real privilege. Many, many thanks to Naturetrek and Hebrides Cruises!

I have travelled with Naturetrek a lot in the last few years and always been happy with their administration and the information they provide about their holidays. They are mostly small group special interest tours led by at least one very knowledgeable naturalist. Tours are available throughout the year and visit places all over the world. They use good hotels in interesting locations or appropriate vessels for cruises, involving local guides when circumstances require it. Although each tour will have a specific focus, I have found that an openness to whatever is of interest to any member of the group enables everyone to get the most out of the tour, whatever their own speciality.

As described - met with our expectations
Holiday was described as a “Harpe Eagle Special”, a bespoke tour to see a magnificent bird of prey in Panama. The tour operator full met our expectations in respect of the accommodation, travel, facilities AND seeing the bird. The only flaw to all their pre departure information was that there was a necessity to have Wellington boots for the day visit to see the Harpy. The tour operator full met our expectations in respect of the accommodation, travel, facilities AND seeing the bird. The only flaw to all their pre departure information was that there was a necessity to have Wellington boots for the day visit to see the Harpy. Given that this was the focus of the tour, had the accommodation providers not had available boots for the participants to borrow then this could have been a complete show stopper. Other than that nothing could be faulted.

Scenery, birds, butterflies and flowers. .
Fantastic scenery, wonderful flowers, good birds, and a delightful family hotel with good food. The roads are narrow and full of hairpin bends, the medieval villages delightful, the picnic lunches amazing, and the whole experience memorable in every way.

Both were totally unflappable, very knowledgeable, good drivers and very organised. The picnics they provided were excellent. We enjoyed their company, as well as that of our fellow travellers.
