Naturetrek day trip in North Norfolk

With an excellent Naturetrek guide, knowledgeable in both botany and birds, we spent a day as a small group walking around several nature sites on the North Norfolk coast, looking at and listening out for birds, examining the vegetation and being educated and entertained by our guide all the while. With an excellent Naturetrek guide, knowledgeable in both botany and birds, we spent a day as a small group walking around several nature sites on the North Norfolk coast, looking at and listening out for birds, examining the vegetation and being educated and entertained by our guide all the while. We even saw a migratory hoopoe, a rarity in Britain, as a bonus. I have been on several Naturetrek UK day trips so far and will continue doing so: they are lovely days out close to nature, and we learn a lot from the guide and see things that we would not have noticed walking out on our own.

Rating for tour operator:

Naturetrek organises walking holidays in the UK and abroad, focussing on botany and/or wildlife. I have been on its week-long "birds and botany" holidays abroad several times in the past; they were fantastic. During these Covid-restricted times, the company has taken the excellent initiative of organising one-day trips in the UK for groups of six, which have been extremely popular with its clients.

A trusted operator we have travelled with many times before. A brilliant initiative during Covid restrictions that benefits us customers and also tour guides, and using Naturetrek's superb team of wildlife travel experts.

Knowledgable and pleasant guide and a great day on Holy Island

The only two downsides were outside Naturetrek's control - a brisk wind and an extraordinarily large number of other visitors to Holy Island for an October Wednesday! But everything else was wonderful. Superb views across Buley Bay followed by a short drive to Holy Island and walk around the numerous habitats available. And a lone Turtle Dove provided me a UK tick!

Just Beavers day trip

In difficult weather the tour leader gave excellent and knowledgable information about the area and the Beaver project in Devon. By shear determination we saw a Beaver kit right at the end of the walk. Absolutely delighted thank you!

Bird Watching in Norfolk in Autumn

Day 1 had a wonderful lifetime memory for ever. Up v. early to get to Snetisham coast just as light coming up and the tide was coming in to max. 40,000 Knots or more (wader birds) swirling in the sky coming over our heads in vast numbers again and again plus hundreds of Oyster Catchers. Numerous other birds seen at close range and through binoculars for the two days. Good food at Le Strange Arms Hotel.

Excellent day trip

Despite pouring rain, I had a fantastic time on a day trip with Naturetrek to Richmond Park to watch the red deer rut and look for other wildlife. The tour leader was exceptional, very knowledgeable and gave just the right level of interaction to the group. He was brilliant at spotting wildlife and made it such an enjoyable day. The tour leader was exceptional, very knowledgeable and gave just the right level of interaction to the group. He was brilliant at spotting wildlife and made it such an enjoyable day. There was no concern about Covid as we were outside the whole time and socially distanced in a small group of four plus the leader. I'd highly recommend these Naturetrek daytrips to anyone missing travel, especially those who enjoy wildlife holidays.

Rating for tour operator:

Naturetrek has done a great job putting on these UK day trips which are a really good way to get a holiday experience during the pandemic for those of us who can't risk quarantine after a foreign holiday (I'm an NHS worker). It was all really well organised, the tour leader was excellent, and it was great value for money.

A Nature trek Triumph as Usual!

Really good accommodation and food, excellent Covid 19 precautions. Our leaders were knowledgeable, efficient but relaxed with of a good sense of humour. The programme was varied and interesting covering all aspects of natural history with a sprinkling of history and architecture. However, for myself the highlight was the trip up Mount Etna - quite spectacular!

I have been travelling with Naturetrek for 5 years and 6 trips and all have been excellent. The brochure they produce is so good that I keep them all to browse through and admire the photographs. The staff are friendly and efficient and are always approachable .In this Covid year, they have very understanding and helpful.

looking for small mammals

A day out at a nature reserve near Basinsgtoke looking for small mammals and other wildlife. Hoping to see a dormouse! Mum Andrews, should led the day, was extremely knowledgable and the planning was excellent. He had pre-set the humane traps and gave everyone the opportunity to see and photograph the creatures caught before their release. Despite the continuous rain, we all had an excellent day, seeing signs of dormice, if not actual ones!

Naturetreck sends emails about their holidays, which always look enticing but are normally beyond my means, being small, specialist groups. However, I was lucky enough to spot this one day trip and couldn't recommend it highly enough. I will definitely look out for similar events in my area in the future.

Dolomites in Autumn

A good mix of birds , plants and scenery with reasonable length walks each day. Tour well managed by Jessica and Luca who had great spotting and identification skills and adapted the programme to take account of the weather. The hotel offers an interesting variety of good food , but is located at high altitude so temperatures can vary a lot in Autumn
