The Italian Dolomites in Autumn

I have been on many wildlife holidays with Naturetrek starting in 2011. For me, they are the best at providing a wide range of wildlife travel adventures for small groups of like-minded individuals. Their customer service is excellent, the leaders are truly professional and the trips are good value for money. I have had many great experiences and learnt so much. Long may they continue.

Travelled with Naturetrek on their Desert and Delta mammal safari to Botswana - Kwai and Moremi reserves in the Okavango Delta. We stayed in 2 mobile camps - so close to nature that we were visited several nights by elephant, lion and hyena! Our on the ground tour operator was AfricanBig5 Tours and Safaris, and our two guides Partner and Nelson, were terrific. We saw countless lions (close up and personal at times!), leopards and cheetah; and don't forget the wild dogs, which we were so lucky to encounter more than once. One encounter with a leopard occurred in Kwai during a night drive - we were on our way back to camp and there it was, walking alongside the track - mesmerizing. Driving through stunning scenery which changes almost at every turn, from wild desertscape populated by bizarrely twisted trunks of dead trees to the lush pools and channels of the Okavango Delta: we really felt we were in a remote and wild place, and rarely saw any other vehicles. Oh and the elephants of course - hundreds of elephants: the cause of the devastated treescapes according to our guides! We were camping for 7 nights and could have done 7 more in an instant! Did I mention the food - tasty and copious! Brilliant adventure. We will be coming back!

Naturetrek was our UK tour operator. We have travelled with them on safari before and we trust their judgement. They know their clients well and the tours they provide are focussed on clients' interests and expectations. Brochure descriptions have not over promised (and perhaps sometimes undersell). On both tours we have done with them I liked their use of local companies and their philosophy of supporting local communities. Everything worked perfectly - the transfers all worked and the on the ground opertors they use are always excellent. I would definitely use Naturetrek again.

The best introduction to the amazing flora and fauna of a small part of Borneo, that whets ones appetite for more!

Borneo's mammmals- Deramakot Forest Reserve was a trip of a lifetime. Viewing nocturnal animals is a challenge, the trip concentrated on that and we came home having seen a lot of the animals described in the promotional material and a lot more. Our local guide Henri, was informative, ( not only about the wildlife and flora, but about the local culture) patient and kind, taking everyone's interests into consideration. It was a very well organized trip, from the publicity material, answering any of our queries throughout the booking process, to the final joining instructions to the logistics on ground and properties that were chosen for our stay. Thank you, Naturetrek.

Naturetrek has never let us down in terms of their vast knowledge of the countries we wish to visit. We are mainly birders, wildlife enthusiasts but have a vast interest in insects, plants, trees and much more. Each trip we have been on their guides and tour leaders have been very knowledgeable and have definitely enhanced the trip. This must be due to Naturetreks dedication to researching exactly what the clients needs and interests are and how to put a tour together safely incorporating local knowledge in the specific country.

Spring flora of the Western Cape

A small group (11+NT Botanist) in 2 x12-seater minibuses (so plenty of room to move around and for our gear). Up the Western Cape to Springbok and back to Cape Peninsula, 6 accommodations in different floral areas, mostly 'quirky' and great to get closer to the locals than you can in the average hotel. Two local driver/guides who looked after us very well (NT have used the same ground operator for many years, I have travelled to SA a number of times with NT and the local driver guides have always been excellent). We saw a wondrous array of flowers, and did not ignore the birds, mammals, insects and other wildlife - we always had time to look at things the clients wanted to look at. When I get home from a trip like that I edit and send a 'daily diary and photo journal' to my friends and relatives, who enjoy that as much as I enjoy re-living the experience.

I've travelled many times with Naturetrek, not only to South Africa - going round the Galapagos in a motor sailing boat was definitely a major lifetime experience. They have always been very helpful, and are happy to book my connecting domestic flights on the same ticket so that my luggage goes through - unlike Saga, who always make me collect it and rebook it, which is hard on me as I am now all-too rapidly nearing 80 years of age.
