A wonderful week of birdwatching in stunning Southern Spain

We had two brilliant guides. We stayed in charming local guest houses. We visited many areas with different habitats so had very varied bird watching.

They were very good at communicating with me before the trip and kept us fully formed about all the Covid regulations. I felt totally safe with them.

Solely goose chase

We had an excellent day trip with Naturetrek at WWT Caerlaverock. Our guide was very knowledgeable and patient in making sure that we saw all birds of interest even when very well disguised.

Fascinating and informative trip

A short wander around the car park introduced us to a wide variety of fungi, far more than expected. An early lunch due to the weather and then we drove to Knettisham Heath nature reserve where, in much better weather, we found many different species, including very rare ones. The leader, Su Gough, was very knowledgeable and a good communicator so we all learnt a lot.

These day trips are an excellent way of seeing the wildlife of an area without all the hassle of long flights etc and with very low Covid risk. We have done other, overseas, holidays with Naturetrek in the past and will probably do so again when we become more comfortable with travel again.

‘The Somerset Levels (Day Trip) 7 Nov 21

A Naturetrek one day adventure, the second I have done. We made a weekend of it, staying in Glastonbury. We walked around the Ham Wall RSPB reserve from 9.00 to 4.30 and were never bored for a moment. The knowledge of the guide, Oliver Smart, is unrivalled and his enthusiasm is incredible. We went with another couple and enjoyed the company of the other 3 guests as well.

Rating for tour operator:

Naturetrek seems to have successfully got through the pandemic by introducing the £50 one day trips which seems a reasonable price for the knowledge involved. They seem a reliable and serious operator and I wish them well.

A fun and rewarding wildlife trip to sunny Southern Spain

We booked "Spain - the Realm of the Iberian Lynx" not really expecting to see this elusive cat, but we had four separate sightings. In addition, we saw some 70 bird species and a wild boar, otter, ibex, mongoose and ladder snake. The weather was perfect and it was just wonderful to be out in the Spanish mountains. We added on three nights in Seville, so had the best of city and countryside.

Wallcreepers and Cranes in Northern Spain.

Very well run in every respect. Excellent accommodation and food. Excellent tour leads who went the extra mile, literally when someone left their phone at one of the sites, to improve guest experience. Well organised itenerary, taking us to the best places to see the birds that we were interested in And most of all an excellent birding experience
