Hadrian's Wall Path: a dream come true

I've always dreamt to walk the Hadrian's Wall Path, but it was very difficult to organise it since I live in Italy. Finally, this summer I did it with my wife thanks to Mickledore. The organization was perfect, the hosting places wonderful, the walk itself astonishing. We are completely satisfied.

Unforgettable Hadrian's wall experience

Mickledore was excellent in planning our holiday, accommodation and provided outstanding support before, during and after the holiday. A great care has gone into choosing the BnBs. The guidebook and all the necessary instructions were clear and we never felt lost. We called the support on our first day to confirm some details and it was a great peace of mind knowing that they were just a ring away. I will definitely book again with them. In ...

A delightful walk through the towns and moors of the Yorkshire Dales

A friend and I took a wonderful walking holiday over 4 days from Saltaire to Settle in Yorkshire. He built houses, schools and hospitals for his workers and even provided pensions for those who were injured. The trip started in the amazing world heritage site town of Saltaire, names after Sir Titus Salt who built a textile mile and village on the River Aire. He built houses, schools and hospitals for his workers and even provided pensions for those who were injured. From here we climbed over the famous Ilkley Moor to spend the evening in the quite bougie town of the same name. We were delightful to find new and fresh places to eat, drink and buy a nice piece of jewelry. Day 2 walking and Skipton was our next destination. After 11 miles of walking we were grateful to stumble into the town on market day and then to be greeted with a glass of sherry at our accommodation. How whimsical. Day 3 took us over Flasby Moor to Hetton where we enjoyed a refreshing cup of tea and then on to Malham for our accommodation in the Lister Arms and the best pie I think I've eaten in years! Day 4 was a little damp as we climbed to the magnificent Malham Cove but at least we had it to ourselves and the views we could see were magnificent. We ended our trip on the beautiful town of Settle.

Mickledore Walking Holidays are simply brilliant. I have used them for 2 walking holidays now and I cannot find fault with a single thing. There communication is timely, supportive and informative. There prices very reasonable. They are professional and courteous and seem to have thought of everything. I have already recommended them to many friends, family and acquaintances.

The Central Thames Path: Oxford to Marlow code TPC7 Self guided 6 day walking trip along the river Thames from Oxford to Marlow. This is the second part of 4 separate Mickledore holidays which cover the whole length of the Thames. We did part 1 from the source of the Thames at Kemble to Oxford last year. In this trip we walked between hotels/inns along the route. All of the hotels were welcoming, friendly and rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was provided on 3 mornings and were excellent, on the other days we ate in a nearby café or provided our own. We bought picnics in local shops for lunch along the route, but there were places to eat on or near the river most days. In the evening there was a good choice of restaurants near the hotels we stayed in, and we enjoyed some fantastic meals. As in the section we walked last year the route was well sign-posted and easy to follow using the guidebook provided by Mickledore. The route followed the river closely and went through a number of lovely villages, canal locks and at one stage the back gardens of a row of houses ! One day we spent a memorable half hour at the edge of a field watching half a dozen red kite where the parents looked like they were teaching the offspring to hunt. The river was much busier in this section with lots of canal boats, cruisers and rowers using it. We would absolutely recommend this trip through Mickledore.

Rating for tour operator:

There was extensive information on the Mickledore website about the trip. The booking process was very easy online. We also called to discuss additional options and these were dealt with efficiently and quickly by the friendly and informative staff. Once confirmed the holiday pack arrived quickly by post. It contained detailed information about all of the places we would be staying, local information about places to eat/emergency contact info etc as well as a detailed guide book and map. The guide book was excellent and included detailed maps for each section of the route. All of the hotels were ready for us when we arrived and our luggage was transferred for us seamlessly between them. We’re already thinking about our next trip with Mickledore.

Dales Way

We had a very nice holiday. The views were beautiful, especially halfway The Dales Way. In Grassington we stayed in the Drovers Arms (The Devonshire), known from the series 'All creatures great and small'. When we got home we watched the series again. We recognized many places, for example Helen's farm.

Rob Roy Way Walk

We had a wonderful experience walking the Rob Roy Way. It was a little more intense for a beginner long distance walker, but the scenery was spectacular. Not having to worry about our luggage making it to the next accommodation and having the option to ride with the luggage was solid peace of mind.
