Wonderful!

I spent 5 wonderful days on Lewis and Harris, including an amazing day trip to St Kilda. The accommodation at Broad Bay House and Ceol na Mara was first class and the hosts at both establishments were great. They were very helpful and nothing was too much bother. Sea Harris, who ran the trip to St Kilda trip, were also excellent and full of interesting information. The tea and lovely ginger cake on board just before we made the return trip was very much appreciated. Although the weather was a bit mixed, it didn't detract from the holiday, in fact, in some instances it added to the atmosphere! You just have to be a bit flexible over what you do and when and great experiences are there to be had. I would thoroughly recommend this holiday to anyone.

The Isle of Skye with Ian

Ian picked us up at our B and B in Inverness. From the moment we were in the van, it was fantastic. Ian was professional and personable. He has so much knowledge about his country. He knew all the places to go based on our planned requests. We saw the Isle Skye at the most beautiful scenic spots. Incredible views. My favorite was the fairy pools. Our hotel was beautiful as well, with friendly people everywhere. We stayed at Eilean Larmain...

The trip was organized and Ian kept us on track with time, but he always made time for a requested photo opportunity. I want to go back and see more!!!! Lori Gibson-With the Hans group of 6.

Inverness and Skye tour

Our driver picked us up at our B & B at a predetermined time of 8 am. We stopped at several agreed upon destinations/sight seeing sights on the way to Skye. After crossing to Skye we made a quick stop for lunch - we wanted to eat on the go to maximize our time the isle. Once on Skye we had time to see the Quairang, Old Man of Storr, Flora MacDonald's burial, hike the Fairy Pools, Tallisker Distillery to name a few sights. Our driver was ...

Once on Skye we had time to see the Quairang, Old Man of Storr, Flora MacDonald's burial, hike the Fairy Pools, Tallisker Distillery to name a few sights. Our driver was entertaining, providing interesting stories and legends. After a full day of touring he dropped us at our hotel which was chosen by McKinley. It was a wonderful choice for accommodations and we enjoyed a dinner in the pub. McKinley Kidd was extremely easy to work with. They were flexible and eased the challenges of making accommodations for a group of six. I would definitely use them again and would request the same driver, ian Byers.

Rating for tour operator:

Ian Byers was extremely pleasant, cordial, humorous and knowledgable regarding history. He provided background history for all of the sites we visited. He was very articulate in the current events of the country and the group very much appreciated hearing how a citizen balanced world views in a changing environment. We all enjoyed his company and when I return to Scotland I will ask for Ian to be our host again. He made our trip very special.

The weather was good and the hotel was excellent, the staff were friendly and the bar staff were a great laugh too. We id the Ardbeg and Bowmore trips and again both staff on the tours really knew their stuff and were happy to be with a real mixed group of folks. You did recommend lunch at Ardbeg after the tour and we were more than happy to do that; it was great, the food was delicious and again the staff were good fun too. Everything was just fabulous ;-)

Rating for tour operator:

I spoke with Hamish and we organised everything over the phone, but he also came in with a few extra ideas to. Something we now realise is what is called "exceptional service" Hamish asked why I had chosen McKinlay Kidd and I said it was the professionalism of the advert and that is exactly what your service is. Robert's recommendations for the Island proved to be a hit with us and next time we are back we will complete the list of extras as we called them! At the distilleries when we gave them our names, the reception staff knew we were "McKinlay Kidd" visitors and we were expected and made welcome. Little touches like that made for very happy customers.

An exploration of the Outer Isles of Scotland

We were booked into a B&B, a hotel and a pub on our travels through the isles. All were comfortable, well sited and provided excellent traditional breakfasts. In the case of the hotel and pub evening meals reflected what was available locally and were very good.

A wonderful experience, full of rewarding memories and nostalgia.

We had a rewarding tour of the Isle of Skye which is a truly beautiful island. The people are very cheerful and friendly and always prepared to help. Another wonderful experience was the steam train ride from Fort William to Mallaig. It was a nostalgic return to pre Beaching days as the carriages and engine were from "days gone by". The two hotels we stayed at provided very good food using local produce. A very enjoyable break.

They provided excellent paperwork, setting out our holiday and ensuring all aspects were covered. All journeys were booked including flights, train journeys, ferries and hire car organised. Everything worked perfectly and we have been very pleased with the results.
