Spectacular scenery, sensational distilleries and sublime accommodation

My wife and I toured the Inner Hebrides and the NC500 route on a self drive holiday. Quite simply, every aspect of our trip was everything and more than we expected. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would do the same trip again in a heartbeat. We would change only one thing - we'd request the Scottish government to ban moronic campervan drivers on the many single lane roads. ;-)

McKinley Kidd had arranged everything exceptionally well. From the car hire and ferry bookings through to wonderful accomodation and tour guidance information, our high expectations were well and truly surpassed. They went to extraordinary lengths to successfully inform us of an unexpected change to the Calmac ferry service from Islay to the mainland.

Amazing

We enjoyed every aspect of our well-organised holiday in the Outer Hebrides. The accommodation, chosen by McKinlay Kidd, was varied, interesting, sometimes ‘quirky’ and always clean and comfortable, with friendly helpful hosts and great breakfasts. We stayed in Oban, on Barra, north Uist, Harris and Skye and it was all breathtaking. They organised our ferry crossings and when the time of one was changed by the ferry company, they rang to tell us...

We stayed in Oban, on Barra, north Uist, Harris and Skye and it was all breathtaking. They organised our ferry crossings and when the time of one was changed by the ferry company, they rang to tell us. The information provided by them, on an app, helped us to get the most out of our holiday. It was a wonderful experience, and all we had to do, was enjoy it.

Rating for tour operator:

They were always helpful when we contacted them, efficient in their administration and discerning in their choice of accommodation. We asked to add extra places to their Hopscotch holiday and it was no problem and all ran smoothly. We were very impressed and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Our holiday to highlands of Scotland by train from the beginning to the end was fantastic.Every train arrived on time and we spent all the journeys just admiring the beautiful landscape. On arrival we were always greeted by such lovely people happy and knowledgeable for our onward journey .The homes we stayed in were delightful all different and homely. The owners were always happy to go above and beyond their roles as hosts which was always noted and so kind .The bedrooms had high end products to use and were spotless .All the beds were very comfy. Every breakfast that we sat down to was excellent slightly different in their presentation but fresh and delicious. The tours offered could not have been any better. The personnel were knowledgeable funny and genuinely love the places where they live and want to pass on that love. It was holiday not rushed and yet we travelled many miles and one that my husband and I will always remember With all the photos taken of all the sights including puffins ,dolphins ,highland cattle, seals sheep, castles, distilleries, flowers ,landscapes an seascapes and many more so one to remember.

Rating for tour operator:

The tour company Mc Kinlay Kidd were excellent. Every phone call was answered with a smile. They sent all the details to us promptly and ensured that all our accommodation offered lactose free milk which they did. They ensured a seemless holiday and we knew from some friends whom we met on our journey that if anything went slightly wrong as they were poorly that mckinlay kidd would sort things out and ensure the trip would continue seamlessly and everyone we met could only praise them for their choices of accommodation and the quality of their holidays .

A stunning West Highland Line trip to Skye

Attention to detail was clear and the chosen hotels were excellent in every way. The whole journey ran smoothly with all pick ups being on time. The Jacobite steam journey lived up to expectation and the recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing were helpful.

Good island hopping trip

This’s holiday enabled us to visit four of the Channel Islands without the hassle of booking ferrries, flights and taxis ourselves. An excellent way to get a true flavour of the islands with particularly good local guides to inform and educate us.

We have used McKinlay Kidd for three different island hopping trips over the past few years, The Orkneys; The outer Hebrides and this one on the Channel Islands. They excel in organising good local guides, transport and accommodation.

Wonderful holiday

We spent a week travelling around the Orkney and Shetland Islands. We travelled by our car and the Island ferries. The organisation of the whole trip was brilliant plus notes and ideas of where to visit and what to see.
