Edge of the Sahara Trek by Stroppy Camel, 14 Apr 2019
Holiday Rating:

Amazing Saharan trek

It was a wonderful insight into life in the harsh environment of the Sahara. We saw the diversity of the surroundings (not just sand!) and understood more about the ecosystem there. The guides were fabulous and the food amazing. You had a challenging experience but with the comfort of knowing you were safe and well looked after.

Lisbon and Sintra self-guided walking holiday

A wonderful 5 days spent exploring Moorish castles, forts and fantasy palaces, beautiful ceramic tiled walls wherever you look, and more sardines and custard tarts (pasteis da nata) than you could ever wish to eat!

KE Adventure Travel were excellent. I found the office staff at KE to be friendly and attentive at all times and whoever I spoke to. This was my first self-guided walking holiday so I was unsure what to expect or how the logistics would work. However, the KE team put me at ease. They were happy to help with any of my queries and if they didn't know the answer immediately, they got back to me later either via email or phone. Truly excellent, personable customer service.

Bulgarian Snowshoe Adventure by Jonny, 25 Mar 2019

Great Introduction in Snow Shoeing.

The trip was well organised and was able to adapt to the weather conditions. It was great to get a taste of the city but the focus is on exploring the countryside and the people within.

We enjoyed hiking the well known Tongariro Crossing and Nydia Track but also the remote and less well known tracks. Travelling by our own mini bus with 2 excellent tour leaders we drove through and visited many of the well known and beautiful locations. Our accommodation was excellent, mainly motels which were well equipped, clean and comfortable, an eco lodge which was both remote and unusual, and a mountain hut! Breakfasts were included and were good, and in the evening there was always a choice of places to eat either as a group or independently. Our holiday was exciting and varied with many different experiences, our leaders were helpful and knowledgeable, the locations were beautiful and overall it was the best holiday we have had!

Rating for tour operator:

Very efficient with the booking and helpful with queries . The tour was well organised and as advertised, and the travelling arrangements worked well. We were given an itinerary beforehand with advice on equipment and what to take, and we felt well informed and cared fir throughout.

A superb trek from the Dana Reserve to Petra in Jordan, walking through ancient landscapes over mountains and through deserts, lead by our excellent guides. We camped, comfortably, in remote areas, under the full moon and enjoyed delicious freshly cooked dinners. The sense of achievement when reaching Petra after five days of hard walking was fantastic and we were rewarded with a tour of this amazing site before returning, reluctantly, to 'civilisation' and (less reluctantly) to hot showers at our hotel.

Sweden winter activity holiday

Sweden: We have never been a ‘sit on a beach’ sort of family, and that is why we chose to visit Sweden with KE Adventures - the trip was everything we could have asked for and more. Airport transport was effortless and we were always greeted with the biggest smiles that Sweden has to offer. Sweden: We have never been a ‘sit on a beach’ sort of family, and that is why we chose to visit Sweden with KE Adventures - the trip was everything we could have asked for and more. Airport transport was effortless and we were always greeted with the biggest smiles that Sweden has to offer. Part of the beauty of booking with KE adventure (for us) is that activities were pre-arranged every day but with a suitable balance of ‘down time’ too. Although some may think this restrictive, KE set out the perfect mix of down-time, ‘free time’ and planned activities which all ran smoothly. All activities that we took part in were amazing, including snowmobiling, cross country skiing, dog sledding and snow shoe trekking . Our visit to the Ice Hotel was absolutely amazing too – you may find that you would prefer a little longer than the scheduled stop there and if you do then you can easily make your own way back to the hotel via taxi when you are ready. The quality of food in the hotel was genuinely incredible, compliments to the chef, and we tried arctic char and reindeer – both were absolutely delicious. All staff and guides were highly trained, spoke fab English and very knowledgeable and made every experience fun and informative making our KE Adventures trip to Sweden incredible, I would HIGHLY recommend it to everyone, there is a plethora of amazing experiences available for all ages. 5 stars - thank you KE for the memories.

Climb Mount Kenya and Kilimanjar by Jim Bob, 28 Jan 2019

A 15 day trip, organised by KE Adventure Travel (KE), equally spread between Mount Kenya national park (Kenya), and then Mount Kilimanjaro national park (Tanzania). After summiting Mount Kenya our happy group of 3 travellers joined 4 other travellers, who had summited Mt Meru with ‘KE’, to tackle Mount Kilimanjaro. We bonded so well that no one would know it had been 2 separate groups, and everyone summited ‘Kili’. This is a credit to the travellers, guides, and to KE’s hard work. Quality hotel accommodation, including swimming pools, preceded and followed nights camping during the ascent of both mountains. Food while camping was varied and tasty, and the guides and support crew were faultless. Tents were spacious, and water tight (very much needed on some days), and thick foam mattresses were provided. Our health was also closely monitored via daily checks on our pulse and oxygen levels. Kenya national park was more beautiful, especially the lakes and diverse flora, which in many ways made summiting Mt. Kenya more like a point to point trek. Overnight camping at lake Michaelson in particular was stunning. Mount Kilimanjaro’s beauty was more rugged, and this trek felt like a mountain ascent from the start. The guides and the information signs at each Kilimanjaro camp site provided useful info on the climactic zone we were in, and the views of Kilimanjaro’s summit became ever more breathtaking the higher we got. Combining Mt. Kenya and Mt. Kilimanjaro in one trip made the holiday both more interesting ( these mountains are not the same) and more successful, as the first summit really helped preparation for Kilimanjaro. Combining 2 small groups for the Kilimanjaro trek was genius, as each group could share their experiences with the other, renew their enthusiasm in getting to know new travellers, and together support each other in summiting Kilimanjaro.

This is the first time I used ‘KE Adventure Travel’ but it won’t be the last. The company were helpful from the first day I phoned to ask about this holiday (Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya), and kept me fully and regularly informed thereafter. The holiday information on the website was also very comprehensive and accurate. KE also added an extra night (and breakfast) at the hotel after the Kilimanjaro summit day at no extra cost. I’m very impressed with this company, will definitely use again, and highly recommend to anyone looking for a well organised trekking challenge.
