A long flight but worth it for the different experiences enjoyed. Top hotels, a wonderful local guide with personality plus who worked hard to make our holiday a memorable one. The travelling group was relatively small(15) and we all mixed well. A really different cultural experience and we learnt a lot about the old railways...a good legacy from the British. The tea was great too!

Ffestiniog Travel. A first with this company but we will go with them again. Perhaps a tailor made trip around Spain/ Portugal which a couple in our group did last year which was well organised and very successful .

The trip traveled by train and coach in the mountains of Sri Lanka. Five World Heritage Sites were visited. Excellent Hotels.

Ffestiniog Travel arranged the tour and coordinated with a local Cri Lanka tour company.

Northern Lights Tour by Ffestiniog Travel: Well organised and well run. Tour leader ably sorted out any ongoing glitches and kept us well informed as we went along. Obviously well organised and implemented support from the Ffestiniog office supporting the tour leader. No complaints whatsoever.

We had a combination of Rail Travel, coupled with visiting Historical and Cultural sites. To make this really interesting, we had an excellent local guide, whose knowledge was enormous.

Very straightforward providing us with the necessary details, travel arrangements, and Hotel accommodation. Always happy to answer queries.

Our first time on an escorted tour so a little apprehensive however the tour guide was excellent. His leadership ensured everything was in place for reservations, rooms, train and ferry tickets but was not over imposing in any way and felt very relaxed at all times. The Northern Lights display was immense - well done for booking such a clear evening, knowledgeable guide and breathtaking location! Highly recommended

Just a superbly orgainsed and varied tour

Railway holiday from Madrid, via Cordoba, Seville, Jerez de la Frontera, Ronda, Algeciras and return to Madrid. Fantastic scenery from Ronda to Algeciras, and much of the route back to Madrid. Beautiful cities and wonderful Andalucian cuisine.

Fantastic trip through Europe to ski resort, travel was perfect, with no delays

The operator provided excellent tailormade arrangements and gave brilliant support throughout which made our holiday perfect.

A short break to visit the Christmas market at Nuremburg by rail from Cumbria. All the arrangements were made efficiently and went well. Good communication throughout.

Very efficient and friendly

Trains from London to Berlin via overnight in Cologne, returning four days later in one day. All trains and hotels were exactly as expected (very good/excellent) and all information was spot on - including what to do if, for example, we missed a connection. Comforting but not needed.

Ffestiniog helped plan the holiday and got it exactly right. Tickets etc and information were faultless.

This was my second visit to the country. The first was good but I was attracted by the itinerary for this one. The tour manager/guides could not have been bettered for their care and their knowledge of the localities. The accommodation included guesthouses and hotels all very clean with full facilities, although, like a lot of places abroad I did value my travel kettle. We saw a lot of places that only an independent traveller would cover. For some people the railway element will be of more importance than to me but the use of narrow gauge lines, some closed to the public, further advance the local experience. My two negatives were both travel related. One, the final journey to Cluj had to be fast and over minor roads to avoid a closure. The other an optional rail journey which was crowded and I could have opted for an alternative trip by road. Minor problems in a memorable two weeks. Do not miss the Memorial to the Victims of Communism and to the Resistance at Sighet Prison!
