A small group of fellow travelers sharing common interests who bonded immediately. The tour leader was a mine of information about the heritage railways which were visited and a good shepherd - our ages ranging from 42 t0 85. No one was left behind or left out. Ffestiniog Travel, because of its affiliation with the distinguished Welsh heritage line, always seems to have extra clout for getting one behind the scenes. Hotel, linking coach travel and catering arrangements were all good. The "Jounees du Patrimonie on the Vivarais" was well worth travelling from Canada to paticipate.

We had a vey efficiently organised journey to Lisbon with stops in Paris, Irun, Bilbao, Santiago de Compestala, Vigo, Porto and Coimbra. Some of these stops were two or three nights enabling us to visit various sites of interest and enjoy the local cuisine.

We had a very speedy and efficient response to our initial enquiry and all the follow up arrangements worked very smoothly with the detailed itinerary being arranged to suit our requirements.

Visits to a number of narrow-gauge steam railways in Eastern Germany and a trip on a paddle boat on the River Rhine using bases at Dresden, Stralsund, Wernigerode and Koblenz. A very enjoyable experience thanks to a tour leader with a dry sense of humour and a really good group of fellow passengers. We appreciated the inclusion of some free time and the flexibility of being able to choose between joining the group activities and doing our own thing (usually at no additional cost).

Prior to the tour we received a package containing the various tickets together with information about seat reservations, hotels, the places to be visited etc. It was very useful to have all of the information in advance and, apart from a couple of minor problems, one of which was outside the control of Ffestiniog Travel, everything went according to plan with the seat reservations. On the days when we travelled from one place to another, the combination of supplied travel information and the low-key, good-humoured help from the tour guide meant that we were able to do all of the right things at the right times without the need for frequent head counts etc.

Helpful guide. Good coach link to venues. Hotels good. Vélorail car ride experience was memorable as was the visit to model railway garden. Steam train rideas exciting as expected. Good overall experience.

The holiday included air, rail and a week in Cadiz. All went very well indeed.

Efficient and helpful

This was a well organised guided tour that was well organised in every respect. The company's organisation and the tour leadership were excellent.

This is my forth tour with `Ffestiniog Travel`. As before the description of the holiday was accurate. The cost was reasonable. The organisation of the tour was smooth and without hitch. The tour leadership was excellent.

Generally excellent with a few problems which the Tour Leader was able to resolve.

This was my first holiday with Ffestiniog Travel and I have no complaints whatsoever. The only thing which went wrong was a broken suspension on a French steam engine so one particular railway was only half covered and with diesel vice steam power but this is in no way anyone's fault. All arrangements made by the company, the hotel, the tour leader and coach driver all worked perfectly and everybody got on well with each other as far as I could tell.

This was my first trip with Ffestiniog Travel and I have nothing but praise for all concerned and I hope to travel with them again.

I flew from London to Halifax (Canada), staying there a few days. Then traveled in stages by train to Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto, staying a few days in each city, flying back from Toronto. Canada is a very civilised place to visit ... holiday very enjoyable.

I specified to Ffestiniog Travel on which trains I wished to travel in Canada and on which dates, and they suggested to me three-star city-centre hotels for each city I stopped in. They booked the air and train travel tickets, and all the hotels for me. Pre-travel planning and booking arrangements very efficient. Actual holiday went very smoothly.

This three day min-break in North Wales was primarily to travel on the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways to Blaenau and Caernafon. The weather was appropriately Welsh but the scenery just spectacular for it.

Ffestinog Travel have obviously a lot of direct experience in organising this type of tour and it went like clockwork or rather steam! Pre- and post-travel interest by the team was high.
