A fantastic trip!

Great trip to Iso Syote in winter. Lovely area with many excellent activities to enjoy besides the obvious skiing/snowboarding. Log cabin was superb, clean and warm. Food at the hotel was delicious and should suit everyone’s needs. Quite remote area so a week with activities was the perfect amount of time for us.

Breathtaking adventure

From the moment we left the uk we were looked after and kept informed, the car hire and iPad were so useful to safely get us to the superb hotel through a blizzard. The sightseeing was awesome - the beauty and friendliness of the county and people was amazing. A truely amazing experience enhanced by the superb organisation and guidance by the company.

Five star from start to finsh

We were met at the airport by our guide who stayed with us throughout the trip. We were in a group of 16 so not a large coach party. The hotels were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for the staff or tour guide.

We were kept informed of our booking and the tour operator went out of their way to ensure we got what we'd requested on booking. They kept us informed of slight changes to our booking too.

Stunning landscapes and geothermal fun

A great trip exploring the waterfalls and geothermal activity around the south west coast of the island. No doubting the highlight of the trip - descending into the lava chamber of an extinct volcano!!

Thank you for taking the time to review your trip; Iceland is such a wonderful and diverse destination it rarely fails to impress and we're delighted to hear that you similarly agree. The 'Inside the Volcano' trip is indeed one of our favourites!

Tromso, Abisko and the Icehotel by ElyFrazer, 2 Apr 2018

Hoiday of a lifetime

Our holiday encompassed Tromso,Abisko and the Icehotel and was such and adventure we will never forget. Yes the main aim was to see the Northern lights (which we did twice) but the trip was so much more than that. We loved the traveling, had great stays in all of our hotels and the Icehotel itself is just incredible.

Our itenary was put together and booked by Discover the world but was self guided. The documentation we received was in depth and extremely useful, especially having a bound copy of the entire itenary. I also received helpful advice when initially booking. Discover the world went above and beyond when arriving at Abisko I left my camera bag (with all my northern lights photos and passports!) on a train that was continuing to Stockholm. I was in complete panic mode and emotional breakdown when we were met by Sally at the Abisko turistation. We were on a selfguided tour so I think it was luck she was there, however she was so calm, bought us both drinks to calm us down and together with the guy on reception my bag was located on the train - as there was no manned stations for it to be dropped off at before Stockholm, it was looking like we were going to have an expensive taxi drive to chase the train, until it transpired the MD of Discover the World was at the Icehotel (further down the train line) and had a car. He drove to Kiruna to pick my bag off the train and tack it back to the Icehotel where I was reunited with it the next day. I cannot thank all of these people enough. I would have left a good review anyway, but I have never had such fantastic personal service anywhere and am so lucky because it was all due to my own stupidity!! We are now looking at other trips we can do with this company.

Thank you very much for your great review, we're delighted you had such a wonderful time. We'll share your comments with those involved with your booking, especially Sally and Clive; this really is what our company is all about and we were very happy to help. It will be a pleasure to assist you with any future trips and in the meantime we're pleased to receive such positive comments about this trip and the service provided by our team.

It was our first trip to a extremely cold location but Lameeze helped us with all our queries and questions and helped us to plan the best way to spend our 4 days to get the most from our experience and excursions. The whole trip was amazing and left our family with many lifelong memories. The only slight negative is the transition to the ice hotel from the warm hotel, which is not DtW fault but perhaps need a bit more thought. Special thanks Maddie our tour rep, who was always on hand with great advice and tips, and as mentioned before Lameeze for taking the time and effort to ensure we booked a great holiday.

10 days to tell us they'd not confirmed the hotel room we'd booked

Poor administration meant our holiday had to be cancelled. We were offered a room at twice the price in the same hotel and an alternative lower standard hotel outside of the city centre for £70 total price reduction. Have had good history with DtW, but not on this occasion. left us without any sensible options in time to rebook elsewhere, especially as it took 5 days to get a credit card refund. No compensation either. Wish I'd also recorded ...

We offer our further apologies that we were unable to confirm the holiday due to availability issues and that it took longer than usual for the refund to be returned to you. The standard of our service is of the utmost importance to us and we very much regret that you have been left with a poor impression on this occasion, especially as you have enjoyed our services in the past. We would welcome the opportunity of providing you again with a more favourable opinion of DTW.

Brilliant short break

We have just returned from the three night Northern Lights Special. We managed to see much of the spectacular scenery in such a short time - Gulfoss Waterfall, Geysir, Thingvellir National Park, geothermal sites and of course a visit to the Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is a bit off-putting when you get there, as it is so busy, but once you are in the water it is fine. The hotels were both of a very good standard. We were lucky enough to ...

Some of the paperwork for the itinerary was incorrect and needed a couple of phone calls to sort it out, but otherwise things were well-organised. The day tours were well-organised and our driver, and our guide, Ragna, were great - Ragna has a great knowledge of Iceland (her home country). The Ranga is a 4*hotel with lovely rooms and good food - there is an observatory where you can watch the night skies through a telescope. The Northern Lights Inn is less luxurious but still of a very good standard with excellent food. Our excursion on Sunday morning with Salty Tours to the Reykjanes Peninsular was a rather surprising bonus trip - we thought it would be much the same as we had already seen but not so - thanks to Thor, our excellent guide.
