A palimpsest of Rome.

Many wonderful sights, all put into a historical and aesthetic context that was illuminating. Small friendly group.

Amazing cultural holiday, full of insights and interest

6 nights in Rome. First visit. Having heard a great deal from friends and family as to what a special city it is, there was a lot for Ciceroni to live up to. How well they succeeded! With an excellent and caring organisation, and having travelled with them 3 times before, we were fully confident this would be no different. Ciceroni did not disappoint. With an excellent and caring organisation, and having travelled with them 3 times before, we were fully confident this would be no different. Ciceroni did not disappoint. The meeting in Rome Airport, the travel arrangements, hotel and eating arrangements - all were excellent and carefully tailored to meet our needs. Tom and James proved to be hugely knowledgeable, taking us to unusual and special (seldom visited)places and all put over in an accessable and fun manner. Suffice to say we were very happy indeed.

Rating for tour operator:

Ciceroni is a super company we would very happily recommend to others who enjoy a culturally based holiday. Privately owned, run with care and consideration, you feel more like a guest than a customer! Set up by Tom Duncan, who also does guiding on many of the tours, supported by other very knowledgeable specialists in their particular subjects. What more can one say? We are Ciceroni groupies!

An adventure into cultural Rome

In many ways challenging both physically and mentally but also entertaining and educational. The programme was well designed, and fellow travellers excellent company. I have definitely fallen for the charm of Rome.

They provide an excellent and extremely varied choice of tours. All very well conducted and very well researched. The level of expertise is exceptional, and balanced with lighter moments, comfort and good company.

Visit to Cuba

Very well planned; excellent English guide and, indeed, the local one was good too. The Tour Manager went out of his way to be helpful. We had a full and comprehensive guide round Havana, and also visited charming Trinidad, and interesting Vinales. We learnt a lot about Cuba, its politics, its history - and inevitably , its music! Accommodation was good..

Well-organised, small group trip

A group of 15 people went to the Baroque Music Festival in Malta in January 2016. The trip was organised by Ciceroni. The hotel, the Excelsior, in Valetta was very good, with most rooms having sea views. The tour guide who stayed with us for the week was excellent. In the mornings, we were driven in a bus to visit different sites in Malta, including trips to Gozo and Mdina. We also went on short walking tours in and around Valletta. In the evenings ...

In the mornings, we were driven in a bus to visit different sites in Malta, including trips to Gozo and Mdina. We also went on short walking tours in and around Valletta. In the evenings and at some lunch times, Ciceroni organised tickets for Batoque music concerts. We had excellent seats and the concerts were fabulous.

Fascinating, contradictory Cuba!

Take Habana Vieja - the most rundown looking, mouldy building, may have a stunning interior with beautiful wall paintings. You never know what you will find. There are Art Deco treasures throughout Habana - you just need a superb guide to winkle them out for you. This is what our Ciceroni tour gave us.

So enjoyable that one week away felt like two!

The holiday was centered on the history of Malta - from Neolithic temples to its development through the centuries coloured by it's varying dynastic populations We visited a wide variety of houses and churches. The later featured largely in the concerts we attended as part of the Baroque Music Festival. History was brought up to date at the first class Malta-in-WW2 exhibition. The later featured largely in the concerts we attended as part of the Baroque Music Festival. History was brought up to date at the first class Malta-in-WW2 exhibition. We ate in several different restaurants, all of which were good, and also had sufficient time to explore on our own. A day trip to Gozo was included in the schedule.

I have travelled with Ciceroni on 'Long Weekends', attended Study Days and visited a variety of places in Europe. The guides have always been very knowledgeable, the accommodation comfortable, the arrangements excellent and the company pleasant. My week in Malta was no exception to the high standards they provide.
