We had a wonderful trip from Melrose to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne

The weather was very good, a couples showers the frist day and then mainly sunshine the rest of the tour. The landscape was beautiful and we enjoyed walking over the hills and moores. The B&B we stayed in were good and the pubs and restaurants you suggested were all plesant. AS you can understand we are very tankful to you for planning a memorable holyday for us.

Thank you very much for your review, Inger. Coming from a country as beautiful as Norway - we are so flattered that you found the landscape of the Scottish Borders so beautiful, and had such a good experience walking the St Cuthbert's Way! Please don't hesitate to get in touch if we can ever tempt you back across to the UK or Ireland for another walking holiday. All the best, Scott

A challenging walking experience made so much easier with Absolute Escapes expert planning.

We walked the 78 miles Great Glen Way in 4 days (for a charity). All five B&B's were very good with very helpful, friendly and attentive owners. Each had individual merits and collectively they were excellent. All five B&B's were very good with very helpful, friendly and attentive owners. Each had individual merits and collectively they were excellent. Extra special mention would have to go to Kilmore Farmhouse at Drum and The Lynver Guest House in Inverness which were more like boutique hotels. The information package and itinerary was so comprehensive and well put together, we needed nothing else to guide us.

Rating for tour operator:

Absolute Escapes prepared our itinerary around our stated requirements, prebooked our accommodation, planned daily luggage transportation and provided the necessary maps and information. Our dealings with the company's personnel were very pleasant and efficient.

enchanted highlands with my best friend and a backpack.

We wanted to walk in the middle of nowhere... The west Highland way was was grand. We had all kinds of weather, but it didn't change a thing to the great experience we had! We did have rain, but it wasn't too bad and we had been expecting it, so we were prepared. Scotland without rain?? I didn't know it was possible . We even bought ourselves a fridge magnet saying 'never mind the weather, ....'. Scotland looks spectacular with al the clouds...

We must say that our stay at bridge of orchy hotel was the best. We had a very warm welcome there because of the staff. Diner was delicious. And so was the whisky... We would recommend it to everyone. The luggage transfer also went smoothly. We hope to be returning to Scotland to see other parts. Who knows... some day...

Rating for tour operator:

When we arrived, we knew we wouldn't have to worry about a thing. The hotels were booked, along with breakfast, which by the way, we could order 'à la carte'. Our operator 'Absolute Escapes' picked out some very nice places for us to stay, especially 'Bridge of Orchy Hotel'. We had had an itinarary in advance, so we knew what to expect from the walk. The location of the hotels en B&B's was also clearly sited. We knew where there would be restaurants and where we 'd best order ourselves a picknick. Our Luggage was taken care of. It al went very smoothly. Thank's again!

West Highland Way

The true beauty of the highlands of Scotland was unfolded in a kaleidoscope of colour, pure fresh air, rugged, brooding mountains and gentler paths through ferns, bluebells, oaks, birches and elms. The walk was at times challenging with steep climbs, mist, rain, mud, tree roots and at times swarms of midgees, but the experience of our journey and the friendships made will be remembered.

Scotland Blue Skies

We had a very enjoyable and memorable trip through Scotland. Ten days of sunny and fabulous blue sky weather in a row was probably a record period of sunshine for the Highlands! Our extended family had a unique and thoroughly enjoyable reunion amid the Highlands, its history, and its very welcoming and hospitable people!

Every aspect of the trip exceeded our expectations -- the train scheduling, the B&B accommodations, and the detailed travel notes. There were no bumps in our travels, just smooth sailing each day.We have widely recommended you to family and friends and plan to return to Scotland for a longer stay in a year or two.

Unique and effortless trip planning make for a one of a kind holiday!

We absolutely loved our Speyside Way holiday planned by Absolute Escapes-- it was truly unique and so effortless. We are already looking at other holiday packages Absolute Escapes offers! For us, the biggest highlight of the trip included the Tomintoul Spur. This section of the Way was awe-inspiring. We really enjoyed the way we traveled through multiple terrains and saw a little bit of everything-- moorland, mountain, farmland, forest, ...

We were so blown away by this trip. This was probably one of the best trips we've ever been on, and that was very much because of all the effort put in by Absolute Escapes. After long days of walking that were incredibly rewarding, but also challenging, everywhere we went to check in knew exactly who we were and everything was prepaid. We never had to think about a single thing, we got to just relax as soon as we got in the door. All of the proprietors were exceedingly friendly, and all of the breakfasts were top notch. We for the most part followed the advice for where to go for evening meals and drinks in the itinerary and were never disappointed. We slept and ate (and drank!) like kings the whole trip!

Absolute Escapes are by far the best walking holiday organisers by far. The staff are well informed and can relay first hand experience regarding any chosen trip. The pack we receive prior to the trip is packed full of useful items even alternative ideas for bad weather situations. For the first time since using Absolute Escapes I had to contact them during the holiday, the response was immediate and my queries dealt with in the most efficient way. I just love the enthusiasm and professional way that the holidays are organised. I can't wait to book my next adventure.

Dan & Marc: Arran Island

My son Dan (who lives in Aberdeen) and I really loved the Arran Coastal walk. My son Dan (who lives in Aberdeen) and I really loved the Arran Coastal walk. The chosen B&Bs' with their excellent breakfasts have been well selected and our evening meals also were really very good. The walk itself has been tremendous although we decided on day 1 (Brodick to Lochranza) not to take the Goat Fell track and so we walked the shorter and less hard / long alternative route. So in the end we did a complete "coastal" hike and day after day we enjoyed each and every mile (or kilometre for me) of it. Stunning views, the diverse fauna and flora, the landscapes (indeed, something like miniatur Highlands), the silence and mainly the challenging route represent, at least as far as I´m concerned, the best walk I ever did till now. Let me however make one remark: besides the many items washed up from the sea, large parts of the track along the coastline are polluted by a great number of litter left by walkers (how sad), mainly empty 0,5 liter plastic waterbottles. This although empty 0,5 liter plastic waterbottles are not heavy and do not take much place in the rucksack ... In my understanding, actions are to be taken and the sensitization of walkers should be done.

Rating for tour operator:

As usual the walk was perfectly organized and even my special luggage arrangement at Brodick Pier went well. If I will still be able to take up our common next challenge, the Hadrian's Wall walk, we will certainly ask ABSOLUTE ESCAPES to get that organized for us. ABSOLUTE ESCAPES have already organized 3 walks for my son Dan and myself: nr. 1: WHW June 2011 nr. 2: Borders Abbeys Way May 2014 nr. 3: Arran Coastal Walk April 2017 and so it will continue for future walks in Scotland.

Absolute Escapes responded to this review on 18 May 2017:

Thanks so much for your fantastic feedback, Marc & Dan. We're so pleased you had another great experience and that it has been your favourite trail so far! We also look forward to organising the Hadrian's Wall Path for you in the future so you can add another one to your list. With best wishes, Amanda

Wonderful walking in the wilds.

Walked the Great Glen Way over five days - blessed with fair weather and a relatively unpopulated path. Relished the solitude and scenery of canal, lochs, hillsides, moor and forestry. A fabulous, soul nourishing hike.
