Hiking in the Scottish Highlands

In April we spent 5 days hiking and exploring the Scottish Highlands. We were based in Aviemore and it was a great location, easily accessible to major roads. The village was quaint and our B&B was fantastic. We would definitely use Absolute Escapes again.

Rating for tour operator:

Megan Bruce was very professional, patient and helpful and answered all of our questions promptly. The hiking suggestions/itinerary she put together for us was wonderful! We traveled to South Africa first and she helped us arrange with our B&B to ship our hiking gear over early and it was waiting for us when we got there. Highly recommend her and the company!

Walking the Speyside Way.

Had a wonderful week of walking. Absolute Escapes had arranged for luggage transfer and booked us really great B&B’s. They supplied good documentation, tips and maps to guide us through the route. We enjoyed beautiful weather the whole week, all in all a great experience.

Walking with Hadrian!

A six day walk along the Hadrians Wall Path from Newcastle to Bowness - no rain at all, lots of Roman remains, excellent food and good walking. What more can you ask for!!

Cannot find fault - all paperwork was sorted efficiently and arrived well in advance of the walk. The information given was very comprehensive. On the walk itself all accommodation was very good and the bag transfer went without a hitch

Wonderful experience from the planning though the actual visit! Absolute Escapes provided an exceptional travel experience from the first e-mail/phone call to their recommendations and guidance! We could not be any happier and can't wait for another visit to Scotland which we will do with Absolute Escapes.

West Highland Way

I walked over five days, and was blessed with some very good weather. The early days along Loch Lomond were great, but my favourite days were further on in the mountains and valleys. I walked by myself, but you start to see some familiar faces along the way, and in the hotels at night which is nice. It's a wonderful experience, that i highly recommend.

The pre-trip communications were timely and comprehensive, and the information pack provided was very useful. I was really pleased with the quality of the accommodation, at all venues the staff were friendly and the rooms and meals were excellent. I am contemplating a similar holiday next year, and will definitely use Absolute Escapes again.

Smoothly organised and enjoyable!

Walking a national trail is an amazing journey and having all my accommodation and transfers when needed all organised, makes the whole process easy. I only had to focus on putting one foot in front of the other and enjoy the walking.

Great self-drive Scotland Tour with B&B's

2.5 days in Edinburgh, them FT. William, Skye, Aviemore, back to Edinburgh. Hiking, sightseeing, Scottish music. All b&B's provided were excellent. No issues with rental car. We had asked for economy automatic, wound up with Mercedes at no extra cost (that's all they had). Actually enjoyed driving on single track roads. All info provided by Absolute escapes was excellent.

First Timers!

We chose the Herriot Way as it offered a slightly shorter route for our first adventure. We relied heavily on the route provided and were grateful for the extra details and comments which kept us on track. The luggage transfer worked like clockwork. We relied heavily on the route provided and were grateful for the extra details and comments which kept us on track. The luggage transfer worked like clockwork. Each hotelier was knowledgable and went the extra mile - one even washed our wet, muddy trousers and placed them in the boot drying room for morning. We were particularly impressed with the standard of accommodation as we assumed we might be compromised given we had a small dog in tow. The Herriot Way was a good way to ‘dip our toes’ but now we’ve got the bug and are researching our next trip.

Rating for tour operator:

They provided everything we needed for our first walking holiday. It worth paying for their expertise.
