Our book club (10 women) wanted to do a hiking trip to celebrate all of our years together. We booked with Wilderness S Orlando because we wanted it to be organized and to see as much as we could. We did a hike in Lochranza, Holy Isle and Goatfell. Our dinners were booked and lunch provided. Our guides were able to tell us a lot about Scotland and nature. You can’t go wrong with Wilderness Scotland

This is an awesome tour company. I just finished three different hiking and biking tours with Wilderness Scotland and I will definitely travel with them again. I’m not sure there’s anything else I need to add.

Beautiful scenery, exhilarating rides, delicious meals, comfortable accommodations.

Spent a week cycling the Scottish National Parks. The daily rides were scenic and sufficiently challenging. Meals and accommodations were excellent.

Walking - The Orkney Isles by Ash, 18 Jul 2024

Fun, memorable and enriching

I took part in a week long guided walking holiday in the Orkney Islands. The programme included daily hikes as well as visits to archeological and historical sites. It was a wonderful experience thanks to our guide, the small group of travel companions, our hosts, and the overall well organized trip.

Rating for tour operator:

Wilderness Scotland was very efficient, from the first contact with the team before booking the trip to the follow up after the trip. I also thought that the holiday itself was very well organized and thoughtfully put together, from accomodation to food to excursions. I would definitely recommend.

We found the reviews for Wilderness Scotland and decided to take a walk on the wild side. Our style is always less is more, so the small group of 8 people and a guide was perfect for us. It really is the best way to eat, sleep, and hike your way through these sacred places. Each day of hiking and discovering, our reward was gorgeous vistas, exquisite suppers, and delightful company. Hikers are just really, really cool people! We are forever changed in that we will be looking for more active trips with small groups of people. The big cruises or coach trips are completely unappealing, now.

Rating for tour operator:

Wilderness Scotland did all the heavy lifting for this trip of a lifetime. Their work scouting out overnight accommodations and dining experience is unmatched. We have traveled with other tour operators in Scotland, and this was absolutely the best! This will not be our last trip with them.

Don’t book a group

The hike took us along many busy narrow roads with traffic which is not the hike i imagined seeing the wilds of Scotland. We had a group of 11 and the accommodation each night was ridiculously unfair in terms of allocation, with the same members receiving very elegant and superior accommodation while the same 4 were allocated less than average to poor accommodation each night..despite all paying EXACTLY the same amount for the EXPERIENCE! This caused feelings of conflict when it was not the fault of any participants in the group~!

Rating for tour operator:

Tour was self guided, but contact and booking contact was Emily schaschke and despite my contacting her prior to the hike re my concerns, I was basically told nothing would be changed. I was hoping it wouldn’t be as much a problem as i had. Thought.. it was worse!!

Wilderness Group Ltd responded to this review on 24 Jul 2024:

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent self-guided tour of the Rob Roy Way. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience you and your group of 11 experienced.
We understand your concerns about the varying standards of accommodation. The Rob Roy Way passes through some of Scotland’s most remote areas, where availability is limited, and it is not always possible to offer the same standard to all travellers. We strive to provide the best options but regret that we fell short in this instance. We apologise for not managing the allocation of rooms more equitably. Your feedback will help us improve our processes to ensure fairer distribution in the future.
We also acknowledge the increased traffic on some roads and its impact on your experience.

Wilderness Group Ltd responded to this review on 24 Jul 2024:

We hope our direct phone and email conversations have addressed your concerns and reached a satisfactory resolution.
Your feedback is invaluable, and we are committed to making the necessary adjustments. We hope you will consider exploring more of Scotland with us in the future, where we will strive to provide a more consistent experience.
