Cycling the North Coast 500 (excluding Applecross and stopping at JOG)

Excellent small-group (four guests, two guides) tour with van support to move our kit each day. Guides were friendly and capable. Hotels were good quality with nice food. And the route itself was challenging but brilliant fabulous roads and scenery (albeit we were fortunate to have warm sunshine every day with little wind - Scotland at its very best).

Wilderness Scotland's Outer Hebrides and NC 500

We cycled the Outer Hebrides and NC 500. The scenery was stunning, the e-bikes were great, and the accommodations were perfect. I've never seen so many baby lambs and beautiful flowers. Loved the seafood, black pudding and sticky toffee pudding.

A fascinating trip in a beautiful place with expert guide

We travelled in a small group by minibus and boat to the Outer Hebrides and St Kilda. We managed to get to St Kilda on a choppy day (not a given), which was a huge coup. We stayed in great hotels, very comfortable, quiet and clean with decent food. It was an informative, memorable trip – and great fun.

Wildlife: The Shetland Isles by Tina, 19 May 2025

A true and much needed respite….far away.

The Shetland trip was awesome. Shetland is remote, raw natural beauty of land and sea, The folks there are kind and full of stories, their priorities clear. Hiking along the sea is beautiful. There is so much to learn and soak up.

Sea Kayaking - Outer Hebrides by KayakPete, 11 May 2025

Outer Hebrides Adventure

It ticked all the boxes! We saw seals, sea otters, whales, dolphin, golden eagles, and many different types of birds. We handled some windy weather and the swells that came with them with ease. Paul M. and Crayton were simply fabulous guides with outstanding personalities.

Neolithic Nature

Very interesting blend of history, culture and nature. It was a really good way to get to know the history of the people and places.

Susie was organized and liked to keep to the schedule but could be flexible as needed. Guiding is a tough job as there are many personalities and breaking the ice and making small talk with multiple can be hard.

Rating for tour operator:

Wilderness Scotland was excellent to work with. I appreciated the simplicity of their website and when I did make contact, they were prompt in replying and answering my questions, even with an 8-hour time difference. I would not have felt confident planning this trip on my own and I was really grateful for their expertise. All of the bookings they made for us were great, from the accommodations to the luggage transport.
