Rating for tour operator:

McKinlay Kidd was the tour operator. The service was excellent. The hotels were wonderful and interesting, not places that we would have found on our own. There was a problem with one of the trains because of extreme weather and flooding, our tour operator did everything they could to mitigate that circumstance.

MacKinlay Kidd West Highland Line to Skye

My wife and I traveled with another couple and all had a wonderful time. Accommodations were clean and comfortable and the food was great. Our tour guide for our day excursion was terrific; knowledgeable, flexible, and had a great sense of humor.

Scottish highlands and Skye

Delightful scenery and well organised rail itinerary.. Tour of Skye was made interesting by the taxi driver in spite of the poor weather.

Friendly consultant on the phone answered all my questions clearly. Information provided was clear and any paperwork was accurate as sent in good time. The option of the app for information was useful when you wanted to quickly check a detail. All accommodation was what was expected clean ,comfortable and fit for need. All taxis arrived when expected and tickets easily accessed

West Highland and Isle of Skye Tour

We recommend them without any reservations.

See above. Everything was meticulously prepared in advance, and the one slight blip of a half hour late on the transfer they prepared us for in advance. Always felt we were in the best hands at each stage of the tour, and the overall preparation was most impressive, including the app, website, and personal touches.

Great holiday in Scotland

My family went on a short holiday to Scotland. We visited Spean Bridge, Isle of Skye, and Edinburgh. McKinlay Kidd did a wonderful job planning our trip to Spean Bridge, from Fort William to Mallaig on the Jacobite Steam train, and our visit to Isle of Skye. We had a great experience.

McKinlay Kidd provided exceptional, personalised service. The accommodations were wonderful. They were also very responsive and helpful when our flight to the UK was delayed and we missed our first scheduled train.

Whirlwind Tour Shows Off a Gorgeous Scotland

We spent a way-too-short 5 days visiting Scotland's cities and amazing highlands. While the weather - typical for the time of year we traveled - was not always the best, we loved almost everything else about our trip. I can highly recommend our travel planner (McKinlay Kidd), Scotland's rail system, and the always-friendly Scottish people. My one complaint: accommodations on 3rd floors without elevator service!

MKK was thorough, planned every little detail, and was prepared to act quickly when weather required a change in plans. (Our ferry to and from the Isle of Skye was canceled due to weather.) We would definitely use again and recommend without hesitation.

A wonderful Skye experience

Our vacation to Scotland began with a 3 night trip to Skye from Glasgow. Our tour operator allowed us the independence to figure things out on our own, but also provided us with excellent scheduling and tours that could only be accomplished with local knowledge. Everyone we came into contact with during our trip was gracious, even those people who were not part of our paid travel experience.

Wonderful

We flew into Glasgow, got the train to Spean Bridge, and from there took the Jacobite Stream Train to Mallaig. From there we got the ferry to The Isle of Skye where we spent a very pleasurable two days touring the island. It was heavenly.
