Lucca & the Renaissance Garden by Jannic, 31 May 2015

The Lucca eye-opener.

From the minute we joined the organisers we were 'guided' in the most informative and entertaining way, our every need was attended to, and we relaxed into Ciceroni mode for the duration. It was a most friendly and happy time.

Both Tom Duncan and James Hill have unbelievable funds of knowledge which they impart to the group with unfailing enthusiasm and a delightfully lighthearted touch. It is a privilege to spend time with them.

A delightful visit to the churches, villas and gardens of Lucca.

The trip lived up to the usual Ciceroni standard - great scholarship lightly worn and always delivered with humour, never forgetting the importance of good food and wine, comfortable accommodation and well scheduled free time.

We have travelled several times in Italy with Tom Duncan and James Hill and they are exceptionally talented at what they do.

Italian Lakes: Gardens & Villas by Mrs M Berkshire, 13 May 2015
Holiday Rating:

Friendly, well organised, and excellent all round.

Italian lakes, gardens and villas - all places of great beauty. The hotels were good and James Hill was a wonderful leader. His knowledge of Italy is most impressive and I think that his personality was what helped to create such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Sylvia Richards was a very knowledgeable botanist.

The itinerary was very good indeed and it was lovely to have a good half day then lunch in a villa our last day and not have to rush for the flight home. The fellow travellers were good fun and the two hotels both had lakeside views. The second one was a bit pretentious We all preferred the first hotel at Bellagio. The whole holiday made me feel I was in Heaven - just hope it will be as good when I get there - if I get there!!?

Everything was very well organised and we were looked after beautifully. Both guides James Hill and Sylvia Richards knew their subjects well and were entertaining. They offered suggestions on where to eat on free evenings and their choice of restaurants when we ate together were fantastic with well chosen menus. They made it a very special holiday for everyone.
