The best walking holiday yet

My wife and I have just enjoyed a week walking the Northumberland Coast Path where all the route planning and accommodation were excellent

The holiday was found and booked for us at short notice with the minimum of fuss. We received a quantity of verbal and written advice which meant the whole holiday went without a hitch

Mickledore Travel responded to this review on 17 Jul 2017:

We are pleased that we were able to organise this short notice holiday for you and that you had such a good time. I hope you will be back in touch when you are ready for another walk.

Well organised from start to finish. A great walking experience!

My husband and I walked the Northumberland coastal path over 5 days. The weather was mixed but we thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. Taking in the breathtaking views and historic castles along the way. Mickledore arranged for our baggage to be moved on from place to place which meant that we could enjoy our days walking. All the B and Bs were great, obviously differing in style, but all the breakfasts and packed lunches were really good...

Everything went to plan and the organisation was second to none. Thanks mickledore.

Northumbrian Coast Walk

A great walk from Creswell to Berwick along the beautiful Northumberland coast. Few hills, not surprisingly, and a varied walk with a good supply of cafes and pubs to help us along. Days ranged up to 13 miles and had plenty of time to visit the castles along the route.

Rating for tour operator:

A great walk made possible by the service that Mickledore provided. They booked B&B accommodation for the week and arranged luggage transfer each day. That way we didn't have to carry more than a day bag and had great places to stay where we wanted on the walk.Easy directions to each B&B were provided. We took an extra day in Seahouses to visit the Farne Islands - the birds, especially puffins, made this an excellent decision.

Mickledore Travel responded to this review on 09 Jun 2017:

Thank you for your feedback. The Northumberland Coast is a fabulous walk with its sweeping beaches and the opportunity to spend a day visiting the puffins! I hope that you will be able to organise another walk with us soon.

Walk along the coast

Blessed with good weather we arrived in Morpeth looking forward to our weeks walking the Northumberland coastal path. Accommodation from our start point in Morpeth until Berwick was either good or excellent. The walk itself was enjoyable but not spectacular, some of the coastal views were stunning but rather too many golf courses to contend with and caravan sites. Walking over to Holy Island was a challenge as there were far to many cars sharing the route. We did see a seal close up and a rewarding pub lunch was enjoyed. On another day we saw a red squirrel. The route was badly signed and at times you had to rely on the guidebook. It is not a challenging walk and the daily distances averaged around 12 miles.

This is our second holiday with Mickledore, the first was the South Downs Way, and have no hesitation in recommending them.

Mickledore Travel responded to this review on 22 Sep 2016:

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed your second holiday although you didn't find the scenery as spectacular as other walks. Its good to hear that you were pleased with the accommodation we selected for you and we hope that we can arrange a third walk for you soon.

WE love UK and we love to walk there. B&B are very hospitality and the hosts are nice and friendly.

Last year we walked the wall. Some of the legs where to long for us. And the weather was very wet. But we did it somehow. Sometimes we was not able to find the right path. The marking has an improvement. This year we walked from Wessex to Berwick upon Tweed. Walking along the east cost was fantastic. And the weather was sunny and nice. We had a grate tour. Above all we experienced a part of UK we did not know. Small cities and pleasant atmosphere...

Above all we experienced a part of UK we did not know. Small cities and pleasant atmosphere. B&B are magnificent to stay in. Nice and caring people who really do their best to make your stay an experience to remember. Personally I would like to have more time to talk with people finding out how life is in UK. It is different from Norway in many ways.

Rating for tour operator:

We had good maps and the tour directions where mostly accurate and it was easy to find the right path. To find the place to spend the night was not so easy all the time. Remember, we are foreigners and we have not been at those places before. Well, we made it by asking local people. Some directions could have been more accurate. But we are, all over, content with the tour operator. And nothing in the world is perfect. We are now thinking about Wales or the Hebrides. Time will show what we will do. We can, however, absolutely recommend this kind of holly day to everyone.

Mickledore Travel responded to this review on 31 Aug 2016:

Thank you for your feedback. I'm pleased that you had another good walk with us and better weather this time! We do try and make it as easy as possible for you to find your accommodation each night so I'm sorry you had some difficulties following our directions. I'm pleased to hear you are planning your next walk and hope that you will allow Mickledore to organise this for you again.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, Tara

Brilliant organising and planning from Mickledore

I walked the Northumberland Coastal Trail solo using Mickledore. It was booked the day before I started and they made sure that maps and guide were delivered. The coastal trail is a lovely walk that includes some stunning scenery. If I did this again, I would include a visit to Holy Island, and stay an extra day near the Causeway.
