We walked over 100 miles from the old whaling port of Malpica to Spain's Lands End, Fisterra, experiencing exhilarating coastal walking along what must surely be one of the best routes in the world. Sumptuous carpets of wild flowers, an ever changing vista, unpredictable weather from heavy rain to glorious sunshine and delicious food to sample each evening in delightful cafes and restaurants. Spotlessly clean and comfortable accommodation with welcoming hosts greeted us each evening. It was great!

On Foot Holidays specialise in self-guided walking holidays. They are masters of their craft providing comprehensive walkers’ packs with excellent route notes and local maps. They select and book accommodation, arrange airpot transfers and organise daily luggage transfer as required. They suggest and can recommend places to enjoy an evening meal and, in this case, arrange with their local contact responsible for the route to shorten a day’s walk if necessary/preferred by the client. A personal itinerary is supplied together with useful and interesting information about the area, its history, customs, wildlife, food and drink. This is my third holiday booked with On Foot, I really like the way they operate.

Our 6 day walk was an absolute delight. We walked from Laxe to Finisterre, enjoying the spectacular rocky coastline, beautiful golden beaches, and delicious Galician food. Our self-guided walk was expertly organised by On Foot Holidays, and with the knowledge of our wonderful local guide Aznar and the gpx files, maps and detailed walking notes provided we were very well equipped for the walk. The walking tracks were quiet and peaceful in early May. The history and culture of Galicia, the towns and villages and welcoming accommodation hosts made this a special holiday. The final evening and sunset at O Semáforo de Fisterra was magical.

This was our second holiday with On Foot Holidays and we felt very happy to again be booked with them and local guide Aznar who was always on hand with weather forecasts, food recommendations and a wonderful sense of humour. On Foot Holidays are an amazing team with a passion for walking and an impressive knowledge about the areas in which their walks take place. On Foot Holidays were always helpful and great communicators at each stage of our holiday booking. They ensured that we had detailed maps, walking notes, and interesting information about Galicia. As with our Basque Pyrenees self-guided walk the accommodation, food and information provided was perfect. The On Foot Holidays website is also beautifully organised with many helpful details about their walks.

I hiked 4 days of the Camino dos faros, aka Lighthouse Way in early May. I was lucky and had perfect weather and temperatures those days. Communication from the time I booked until I returned home was without any issues and really appreciated.

On Foot Holidays communicated with us well in advance, and sent us a very detailed folder with everything we needed for our holiday. Their attention to detail is impressive, and during our holiday the local contact was easily available to answer questions and give advice. They did everything possible to make sure our self-guided walk was stress-free. I would definitely go on another holiday with them!!

Every step of the way On Foot Holidays were there for us. Communication was always timely, explicit and informative. We were extremely impressed with the provided maps and detailed instructions as to what to expect daily on the trail. Our accommodations were very good considering the rural nature of our trip.

We walked the Lighthouse Way in Galicia, and it was even better than we had hoped for. The route was well marked, the directions we received were detailed and careful, and the accommodation was wonderful. We would do it again in a heartbeat.

We began with a wonderful international phone call during which Mary of On Foot gave my family individualized trip recommendations— and it just got better from there. Everything was meticulously organized, the directions couldn’t have been clearer, the local consultant was attentive and helpful, the accommodations were warm and inviting, and all that made the trip perfect. On Foot even took it upon themselves to rearrange our accommodations on their own dime when they realized we were originally booked in a town during a lovely but loud late-night festival.

From the arrival right until the end the variation and the quality of our walk and accommodation was superb. We had an amazing time and met great people and had delicious Galician food and drinks

My friend and I had a truly wonderful ten day hike on the Lighthouse Way from Malpica to Fisterre. It was a hiker's hike with long days up and down along the coast. From the Atlantic breaking onto cliffs to white sand beaches to calm inlets, there was huge variety in the scenery. Other than the towns, we encountered few people on the trails and the seafood in Galicia has to be the best in the world.

The logistics were handled flawlessly by On Foot Holidays from start to finish. We stayed at nine different places from small inns and hotels to agritourismos to our own little apartment. All were special in their own ways, often with ocean views and with kind and helpful hosts. Our local contact, Aznar, kept us well informed and with On Foot's beautiful maps, Blue Book and directions, we never had trouble following the route.

We completed a 9 day self guided walking holiday in the North of Spain, ending with 3 nights in Santiago to relax and recover
