Knoydart small group walking tour, my first experience joining a group like this on my own.

I travelled on my own to join this walking group & had a wonderful time. Great leadership & planning, challenging mountain & Island hiking on Knoydart & the small Isles. Breathtaking scenery, wonderful wildlife sightings, many from the boat on the way to island walks, excellent accommodation & fabulous meals all included. I would do it all again.

I was impressed with the efficient & warm communications via email from my very first contact with Wilderness Scotland. First impressions count for a lot! Very well organised small group tour. All-inclusive, accommodation, meals, planning & leadership of the walks etc was excellent. I would (& already have) happily recommend Wilderness Scotland to friends.

Exceptional

We were based at Doune on the Knoydart peninsular, reached by boat from Mallaig. This was a walking holiday and you are often walking on rough ground rather than established paths. On the boat we saw porpoises, a minkie whale, and were accompanied for part of the voyage to Eigg by around 100 dolphins (so many is unusual we were told, it was a remarkable experience). The food at the restaurant at Doune was consistently delicious. On our walks we enjoyed some great views, and were looked after very well by an experienced and knowledgeable leader, whose choices of walks were excellent and challenging.

This was my first experience of Wilderness Scotland, we had a wonderful holiday, and I would recommend the holiday we did to anyone who likes remote places and does not mind walking on rough ground.

Wilderness Scotland walking on the Knoydart Peninsula, Skye, Eigg and Rum

1 week in true Wilderness with a mixture of walking experiences moderated by the weather lots of opportunities to see wildlife, fantastic guide with excellent knowledge of the flora, fauna,, ecology geology some walks accessed by boat stayed in lodge at Doune with fantastic food, basic bedrooms, no en-suites but communal facilities were adequate with lots of hot water, I don't think I could ever tire of the view from the front porch ...

Wilderness Scotland Knoydart Trip was outstanding.

Our recent experience with Wilderness Scotland exceeded our expectations in almost all respects with regard to trip itinerary & guide leadership, meals & accommodation and trip support. Even when adverse weather forced changes to itinerary, the alternate plan offered excellent experience for all concerned. Highly recommended!!

Fabulous guided walking tour

We spent a week on the Knoydart Peninsula based from Doune Stone Lodges through Wilderness Scotland. It was fabulous from start to finish, from the exceptional facilities and meals; scenic hiking routes; island visits; and friendly and professional guide, Kirsty.

The guide was excellent, informative and knowledgeable; the "basecamp" outstanding - great hospitality and excellent food; and the overall experience satisfying. We would recommend it highly for anyone wanting to experience the western part of Scotland. However, be forewarned. Hiking conditions are difficult - trails few and not well-maintained, very boggy and muddy, and weather highly variable. In spite of that, we loved the experience. It is a beautiful area of the world!

Very well-organized trip.
