Outer Hebrides - Hopscotch

A memorable trip with amazing views round every corner and each island had something different to explore and enjoy. The friendliness of the people on the islands and courtesy of all drivers on single track roads made touring a good experience.

The high standard of accommodation provided and all Robert's hints and tips ensured we got the best out of each island. All staff we engaged with from beginning to end was proficient and all could deal with any questions we had. Thank you.

McKinlay Kidd can be counted on to take care of all of the details for you

McKinlay Kidd makes all of the arrangements, including beautiful lodgings, and ensures the trip occurs without a hitch. We flew into Barra, and then drove a rental car up through the Outer Hebrides using car ferries pre-booked by McKinlay Kidd, before flying back to Glasgow from Stornaway.

Rating for tour operator:

We were so pleased with our last McKinlay Kidd holiday to the western isles and highlands of Scotland, that we immediately turned to them for help planning our trip to the Outer Hebrides this year. McKinlay Kidd excels in finding comfortable and well-situated lodgings and in accounting for all of the details needed to ensure a smooth and hassle-free trip.

Well Organised and Very Enjoyable Trip

We flew to the Hebridean island of Barra, landing on the beach, and greeted by a Pipe band and a crowd of locals listening to the wonderful sound. We then spent a week touring and the Hebrides, in mostly warm sunny weather, adoring having super beaches to ourselves, with stunning scenery, delicious meals in the local pubs and restaurants., and friendly ferries between islands.

The holidays was well thought out and organised including the car rental collection, the hotel or B & B accommodation, and pre-booked ferries. We were happy with the holiday price and how easy it was to rely upon the TO to arrange this personalised trip for us.

Brief trip to Lewis and Harris

Too short but very memorable time spent between Stornoway and Tarbert. Beautiful scenery and fresh air, even driving on those single track roads was interesting!

The sun shines in the Hebrides!

We visited 3 islands: Barra, North and South Uist, Harris-Lewis and stayed some in excellent accommodation, saw some beautiful scenery including exceptional beaches, and fascinating historical monuments.

Hassle free bucket list holiday

From the tiny aeroplane trip to Barra and drive through to Lewis then return to Glasgow, every minute was worth it.

McKinley-Kidd had arranged the itinerary exactly as requested. Tour tips, hire car, accommodation, ferry vouchers, in fact everything was thought of to help our holiday problem free. Communication was prompt and efficient. I arranged our holiday from Australia, and McKinley-Kidd, recommended by a friend, didn't disappoint.

We had had the preceeding week in Edinburgh which we love anyway. !! and MK posted us an extra package of info there which was great .MK also booked the hotel we returned to there after our trip . and before we headed for our river boat trip in Europe ( 3 boats!! due to low river levels ) so glad for us and them that we got that rain in the Hebrides .Landing on the beach in Barra in the rain was fun !!!

Rating for tour operator:

McKinlay Kidd's choice of hotels , and b and b's and the tour app and all other info were all excellent . from the moment I found them on the internet the year before we went !!! The ferries were great and being not mid season were flexible and we were well advised by our hosts when to take the earlier ones which was great, Hire car delivery was no fuss , in the pouring rain !! and only 5 mins to the hotel on Barra.

A small but efficient and friendly company, which offers a truly personal service. We have used them twice now and have always felt in safe hands. They take our sometimes quirky requests in their stride.
