Everything I had hoped for and more

Stunningly beautiful walking tour of Amalfi Coast with side trips to Capri and Pompeii

Rating for tour operator:

Our vacation organized by On Foot Holidays was everything I had hoped for and more. We had an absolutely fantastic trip and within 24 hrs of arriving home from Italy I was on On Foot's website looking to see where we could go next. We were extremely happy with the route notes, the luggage transfers, the support, and most importantly, the accommodations. Initially we weren't quite sure what to make of On Foot Holidays because no one we knew had ever heard of them (we live in the U.S.); we only came across them after a Google search, but from our first inquiry through countless others, On Foot was friendly and responsive and it was clear they stood behind their product.

On Foot Holidays responded to this review on 20 Oct 2014:

Thanks Elise - particularly for putting your trust in a company no-one has heard of!

Best holiday I can remember

On Foot set us up with a 'tailored' version of their Amalfi Coast route, and gave us considerate and realistic advice on how to get the best from every day. Early flight to Naples; easy bus to Salerno; spectacular ferry to Amalfi; wonderful walks to Ravello, Praiano, Positano, Sant'Agata, Sorrento; educational visit to Ercolano. Friendly and comfortable hotels at every stage.

The people at On Foot are a team of happy and experienced walkers themselves. They listen carefully to the client's wishes, offer creative advice, and keep their promises. The On Foot maps and guides are the best I have ever encountered.

Blissful week on the Amalfi Coast

Our holiday (organised by OnFoot) exceeded our expectations. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The hotels were lovely and well located, our bags always arrived before us, the route notes were clear but above everything else the itinerary was perfect.

The staff at OnFoot Holidays have been consistently efficient, friendly and helpful. We intend to do another walking tour next year and would not consider using any other operator.

Amalfi Coast Walks to Remember

On Foot Holidays provided easy to follow written instructions of the highest detail along with appropriately scaled daily route maps. All of our hotel check-ins and transfers went smoothly as arranged. The opportunity to stay one night at an agriturismo was a welcome relief from the busy towns and restaurants. We'd definitely recommend this trip to friends who enjoy exploring their holiday destinations on foot!

Rating for tour operator:

We found On Foot Holidays via a web search for Amalfi Coast walking holidays. Their package prices were appealing to us, as were their traveller services and recommendations from past clients. Through small-world circumstances, a representative of On Foot Holidays was actually able to deliver our travel package containing maps, route info and guide books personally to our home in Canada. We customized our trip with extra nights and an upgraded hotel which On Foot happily accommodated with several pleasant back and forth emails, including helpful suggestions. Our trip started off stressfully when our luggage went missing in Rome and we were without our proper walking attire for 4 days. The local contact was incredibly supportive and kept in touch via email to us, and by phone to our hotels and the airline, constantly searching for updates and providing suggestions on where to find appropriate clothing and footwear. We would not hesitate to book another vacation with On Foot Holidays.

Great walking experience and superb scenery

We booked the 7 day Amalfi to Sorrento walking holiday (self guided)and interspersed it with 5 rest days with some in the middle and a couple of days extra in Sorrento at the end. The hotels were very good, central and often with good views or lovely roof terraces to enjoy at the end of the day. The walking was very interesting, scenic and varied. At the beginning there were lots of steps to walk with less so on the last few days, so need to be prepared for that. We combined the walking with a couple of beach days and a boat trip to Capri, visit to Pompeii and Herculaneum and Vesuvius which made it a very varied holiday.

Rating for tour operator:

On Foot Holidays (we dealt with Mary) were excellent. They were very professional, prompt with organisation, patient with my different and individual requests to change the itinerary. The paperwork, maps and information was very good, together with up to date bus timetables for the areas and useful local information. The route directions were typed in large type so glasses were not necessary and although nothing went wrong, we felt if it had, they would have sorted it with no problem. Our local taxi driver for airport transfer was friendly and efficient, so we used him for a private car to get round Pompeii and Herculaneum and Vesuvius all on one day which the larger tours don't do. We would definitely use them again.

great unguided walking in a beautiful environment

the walk ws everything and more than we expected. The environment was beautiful and varied, the walk was challenging, the weather was perfect for walking, the accommodation was very good, and the real plus for we 67 year olds was the fact that we didn't have to carry a heavy pack.

'On Foot' were excellent from the time we first made enquiries about the walk until the time we departed on our holiday They followed up all questions quickly and courteously and were happy to make any adjustments we requested in regard to accommodation A very comprehensive walker's pack was provided and it was reassuring knowing that a local contact was at the end of a phone call should we have needed assistance We would definitely use them again and recommend them to others

Wonderful 7 night holiday walking along the Amalfi coast

We went to the Amalfi coast in mid May and had good weather. The scenery is breathtaking and the wild flowers were lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed all the small hotels where we stayed. We easily navigated our way on the walks, some quite tiring, but manageable for anyone of average fitness. Amalfi is a great place to stay and we really enjoyed exploring the tiny alleyways and steps between the houses. The climb to Ravello is well rewarded ...

We easily navigated our way on the walks, some quite tiring, but manageable for anyone of average fitness. Amalfi is a great place to stay and we really enjoyed exploring the tiny alleyways and steps between the houses. The climb to Ravello is well rewarded by the beautiful views from the Cimbrone gardens and the traffic free streets and squares. The walk continues along the coast to Praiano and Positano and we then spent a day exploring the Sorrento peninsular - all just great.

Rating for tour operator:

On Foot Holidays are the best company I have used for booking a walking holiday. The walks were very well planned and the information, maps and directions we were sent were accurate and extremely useful with lots of extra detail and background information. I have never been sent such clear walking notes with each day in a separate plastic wallet. All the staff I spoke/e-mailed were very knowledgeable and helpful and responded very quickly to queries. The hotels chosen were ideal and there was also a local person contactable for help should you need it.

Stunning Amalfi Coast Self-Guided Walk

I walked the beautiful Amalfi Coast in May with On Foot Holidays. The scenery was stunning. The walks were enjoyable, if a little strenuous at times, but there was always an easier option on offer. The accommodation was in general very good to excellent. I walked on my own, following the very detailed route notes provided, and never got lost. Walking is a great way to experience a country. It was a truly wonderful holiday.

Friendly, helpful staff who kept me informed about the upcoming walk and last minute route changes due to landslips. As this was a self-guided tour it was important that the information provided be comprehensive, detailed and helpful. It was, from providing information about all possible connections to get to the start of the tour, to detailed route notes, to restaurant recommendations close to the accommodation. This was my first tour with On Foot Holidays, and I would use them again. I would also recommend them to friends and family.
