Lovely relaxing holiday in the Aegean

We spent two week cruising the Dodecanese islands, from Patmos in the north to Rhodes in the south, with a visit to Samos as well. I never get tired of sailing the Greek islands on a gulet. It's such a relaxed and enjoyable way to travel - beautiful blue seas & sky, lots of fresh food (and cold beer!), interesting archaeology & pretty harbours. An unexpected bonus this trip was to stay overnight in the sheltered anchorage of uninhabited Alimia - taking refuge from bad weather in a place used 2,300 years ago by the Rhodian fleet for that exact purpose. What a fascinating link to the past.

Cruising the Dodecanese

The Company delivered everything that was promised and more. We saw some amazing sites, had the most profound insights and had good fun into the bargain.

Rating for tour operator:

A relatively small Company, but one which thereby gives a most personal service with attention to every detail.

Another lovely gulet trip in the Greek Islands

Travelling on the beautiful Aegean Clipper, we visited 9 of the Dodecanese Islands - from Samos to Rhodes. Lots of fresh food, some swimming, beautiful blue skies & blue seas. We visited many places - extraordinary scenery in the volcanic crater on Nisyros; the sublime - the cave where St John received the Revelation on Patmos; the quaint - the Pigmy Elephant Museum on Tilos. Small company running mainly archaeologically focused holidays. Some of these use motor-yachts (gulets) - these are my favourites, as you get both the experience of a lovely boat holiday, and you get to visit fascinating sites with excellent guides to explain & interpret them for you.

Fun, relaxing and educational.

We sailed in a Gulet around the Nthn Dodecanese of the Greek Islands. We stopped at a different island every day and were shown wonderful archeological sites by our two wonderful guides who were experts in Pre History and Byzantine history. The gulet was extremely comfortable and as well as eating very well on board we feasted at Tavernas on each of the islands we visited.

Peter Sommer is a qualified archaeologist who specialises in tours in Greece, Turkey and Italy. These are led by experienced guides who endeavour to showcase the most interesting sites in each region they travel to. The gulets moor in quiet coves around the islands where guests can swim, snorkel or kayak. Nothing is too much trouble. The crew are wonderful too.
