Attention to detail, quick responses to our questions and genuine intention that we would experience the places and enjoy the journey. We are based in Australia, but quite honestly their help and attention was as if they were aroundthe corner. We have used ONFOOT several times for different walks in Europe and always been extreme,y happy. Very professional operator. They have done the walks themselves and this comes across with their advice and guidance

Fantastic experience in Greece!

It was my first time in Greece and my first time on a walking holiday. The walks were wonderful and took us to places we wouldn’t have found on our own. On Foot provided excellent tips and advice including lunch options for the day, which were tremendously useful. If I had more time, I would like to have added an extra day in Naxos, so that we could have done one more walk.

They have this itinerary very very well organised. They’d covered every detail and are very knowledgeable, as staff have been and done the walks themselves. I totally recommend them.

6 lovely days walking - Naxos and Amorgos. Although late Spring the wild flowers were beautiful and the weather perfect for walking.

Walking off the beaten track on two neighbouring Greek islands

4 nights staying in the same hotel on the Greek island of Naxos and 3 nights in the same pension on the nearby unspoilt island of Amorgos enabled us to choose on a daily basis which of the many walks ranging between 8km and 15km we felt like doing. All 5 walks were well signposted, though mainly following old mule tracks they were quite rocky underfoot. On most walks we met no-one else apart from the occasional shepherd and flocks of goats. ...

All 5 walks were well signposted, though mainly following old mule tracks they were quite rocky underfoot. On most walks we met no-one else apart from the occasional shepherd and flocks of goats. On Naxos we particularly enjoyed the walk on the sparsely populated east of the island to the Lionas beach where we finished with a swim in the (cold) sea and a meal at the welcoming Delfinaki family restaurant. On Amorgos the walk along the spine of the island taking in the Chozoviatsa Monastery clinging to the side of the cliff was the highlight.

We spoke to On Foot at the Destinations Show in London 2023 and the member of staff on duty enthusiastically highlighted this trip to us as it met our desire for minimising the number of overnight stays in different hotels/guest houses. The background information provided about the holiday was very useful, walking notes. maps and GPS files accurate, and the logistics faultless. The other reps we dealt with during the booking process and leading up to the holiday were very knowledgeable and responsive to phone calls and emails.

On Foot - Naxos and Amorgos

This walking holiday treated us to a heady taste of the old world and introduced us to the real Greece, more removed from tourists than the better-known islands, and that's just what we were looking for. Our daily hikes, which led us along the old stone mule paths with breathtaking Aegean Sea views, were just challenging enough for this 67- and 70-year-old fit couple. Highlights of each day included sweet and quiet villages, countless white Greek Orthodox churches and stunning ocean panoramas from on high. We fell in love with the locals, whose warm greetings and hospitality made us feel right at home. On Amorgos, our host Marios was always ready with a kind smile and helpful information, and we fell in love with our Naxos host, the effervescent Nicoletta of Hotel Grotto (where the daily breakfast was unrivaled). All in all, a trip to remember for years to come.

Rating for tour operator:

As we planned the trip, On Foot guided us with utter professionalism, immediately responding to our various questions and concerns and tailoring our trip to specific needs. Before the trip, we benefited greatly from the thoughtful and thorough background information which On Foot provided. The directions, maps and GPS they sent for each route were right on the money, and we felt safe and well cared-for from start to finish.

We had a wonderful experience - exceeding our best hopes for it

It was a walking holiday on the Greek Islands of Naxos and Amorgos. The walks were carefully planned to be very varied and give a great feel for where we were staying. We had never been to Greece before and this was a great introduction and will remain one of our most memorable holidays

Really helpful in the initial planning - helping us work out the kind of walking holiday that would work for us. All the material that they sent us was excellent and helped us do the walks. The organisation of the holiday was brilliant and the contacts that they had arranged on the islands were really helpful. The supporting information about the islands and about travel, food etc was also excellent. Everything was in place to help us to enjoy it

Attic Felicity

Our walking holiday on the islands of Naxos and Amorgos organised by On Foot Holidays was an unqualified success. My wife and I had travelled under the firm’s auspices on three earlier occasions, but now we were up against two family problems, which made decisions difficult, one being that, at 88 and with a limp, my walking days are over, and the other the serious illness of a son- in-law which made timing considerations complicated. On Foot do not arrange group participation by individuals, but the first problem was alleviated by my middle daughter deciding that she could accompany her mum in a walking capacity during the Ictibrf half-term break, and On Foot offering a holiday which involved a return to a central base every evening, meaning that I could accompany them on the trip, awaiting their daily return. To the second problem, On Foot we’re equally sympathetic and delayed asking for a balance payment until we were ready, and went so far as to say that our money would be fully refunded if we cancelled at any time before the due departure date. As we knew in advance, the responsibility of booking the appropriate flights and ferries was ours, but we also knew that we could depend on On Foot for the efficient and reliable precision of the transfer arrangements between airport or ferry arrival and departure points, the excellence of the accommodation and the detailed explanation if the various walks, together with clearly exlicit maps and all the necessary contact numbers should anything go amiss. The holiday made a huge difference to the three of us, and full credit for that should go to On Foot.

Perfect way to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary

We saw the Greek Isles the way they used to be (before the tourists overran the islands), while staying in very comfortable lodgings. We visited two islands (Amorgos and Naxos), and had a choice of daily hikes on each. Lodging and transfer logistics and hiking instructions were all taken care of by On Foot, meaning all we had to do was put one foot in front of the other and enjoy the scenery.

On Foot Holidays takes care of everything (lodging, transfers, local hosts, hiking instructions). Their local hosts are well-informed and welcoming. As the guest, you can enjoy your holiday without any of the preparation and without having to put up with fellow tourists. They find the authentic places to visit in each locale.

Great walking holiday on Naxos

We did a 6 day walking trip on Naxos with On Foot Holidays. We chose On Foot as we’d used them before for a walking holiday in Mallorca which was also excellent. They choose fantastic small boutique hotels which are often 2 or 3 star but provide very personal service. Their walking notes are generally excellent and On Foot are always very responsive. We loved our time on Naxos and especially the Grotta Hotel in Naxos Town.

See above. On Foot Holidays provide great walking notes, maps and guide books and are always there to help. They provide very personal service and choose fabulous little hotels which we generally wouldn’t go for but they have always been interesting and very hospitable.
