Fascinating exploration of the Wittelsbachs in Munich

Visits to important sites and connections with this important European dynasty plus opera at Bavarian State Opera house. Met our expectations on learning about those times.

We attended 3 superb operas in Munich, and during the day went to some very interesting Mini Stately Homes outside of Munich, and had some superb group lunches as well. We also visited the 3 important art galleries in Munich which were outstanding.

Ciceroni plan their trips to make them very interesting for their clients, and as they have a large client base they have a few new tours each year to keep their clients happy and interested.

Maximum cultural and musical pleasure in Munich

Since 2008,the more Ciceroni Tours I've taken, the more friends I've made and it's a pleasure to encounter them again. Seated beside each other on the plane and near each other in the splendid, comfortable Munich Opera House, we enjoyed each others' company. Seated beside each other on the plane and near each other in the splendid, comfortable Munich Opera House, we enjoyed each others' company. Enthusiastic opera-goers, we discussed our impressions in the intervals and, later, in the hotel, only a few minutes' walk away. TOSCA, with Jonas Kaufmann and Bryn Terfel, was the most moving damatic experience I've had in over 70 years. LOHENGRIN's futuristic presentation made me more appreciative of Wagner. LA BOHEME was just right. Our visits to art galleries, followed by daily group lunches enhanced our fellowship and friendship.

Caring perfection is par for the Ciceroni course. Dr Tom Duncan is an academically trained expert in both art and music, who takes a personal interest in and care of those he leads with eloquence and wit.

Art/History and Music seen and heard at its best

Since the group all consisted of people with similar interest it was one of the most wonderful tours . Thanks to Ciceroni's perfect planning and organisation we were able to enjoy visits to the Bayerische Staatsoper , where the highlight was a performance of 'Tosca' with a world class cast. Our Hotel was most comfortable and we enjoyed good food and the most delightful Restaurants.

Rating for tour operator:

Full of Enthusiasm, excellent knowledge in Art and History and able to pass this knowledge on to the listener. Kind and considerate and also with a great sense of humour. I would always chose this Tour Operator again for future tours. Excellent, enthusiastic, with the most astonishing detailed knowledge of art and history and being able to pass this on to the group participants in a way for them to understand and to never tire to listen. I would always chose this Tour Operator again for future bookings.

Our tour was intended to introduce us, a small party of 12 parsons, to the most interesting artistic features of Munich, and particularly those associated with the former ruling family, the Wittelsbachs. We visited 3 of their palaces, for the most part 18th century; a couple of art galleries founded by them, containing world famous paintings and sculptures; ; and 3 churches in the old city. We were extremely comfortably and conveniently accommodated ;we enjoyed 3 group meals of the highest standard; and for those who wished tickets were obtained for operas and ballet.

Rating for tour operator:

The tour was organised and led by Tom Duncan who runs Cicceroni. He is extremely well informed; a wonderful lecturer; and a disarming and pleasant companion. He copes with set-backs - e.g. inconvenient organ practice in the cathedral - with aplomb and the agents he uses never seem to let him down, in matters such as punctuality, helpfulness etc.
