Marrakech/Essaouira - Sea & Souk by AlisonH, 13 Dec 2013

The right mix of activities - relaxing, sight-seeing, spa treatments, dining out and hiking. Could not have asked for more.

My husband and I booked a week in Morocco with Flee Winter: we spent a few days in Essaouira, where we chilled out – this involved spa treatments and walks along the coast. Then on to Marrakech, where we immersed ourselves in the markets and wandered around the medina. The final day was a trip to the mountains where a guide took us on a challenging four hour walk around up winding paths in the High Atlas. In both destinations, we stayed in Rhiads ...

Then on to Marrakech, where we immersed ourselves in the markets and wandered around the medina. The final day was a trip to the mountains where a guide took us on a challenging four hour walk around up winding paths in the High Atlas. In both destinations, we stayed in Rhiads which were on a par with any European boutique hotel, yet had a distinctly Moroccan charm. All in all, the trip ticked all the boxes for us and exceeded our expectations.

Rating for tour operator:

Flee Winter was great – I could not ask more of my tour operator. They really understood what we were looking for in our trip and came up with the perfect itinerary. If I had not gone through Flee Winter, I would probably have booked a week in Marakesh and found it too overwhelming for a full week. The Flee Winter team was attentive and worked with good partners on the ground – I can speak highly of the riads and private transfers.

Excellent - A good introduction to Morocco

Excellent accommodation (bar one but is the best in the area), Excellent guide from Marrakech to the desert and back again. Good food. Marrakech a bit crazy and takes some getting used to, but once you relax into its ways it is not as bad as it first seems. Feels very safe, didn't feel at all threatened. Marrakech a bit crazy and takes some getting used to, but once you relax into its ways it is not as bad as it first seems. Feels very safe, didn't feel at all threatened. Road trip to and from Desert is long, we had a few stops for rest and a bit of site seeing but for some the journey may be too long. Crossing the desert was excellent, we had the whole camp to ourselves are our guides produced some excellent food and entertained us with local music. Nice chance to wind down at the end of the holiday at our final venue outside of Marrakech including a few rounds of crazy golf!

Rating for tour operator:

Everything happened as it should. No delays, booking very simple, good service and readily answered questions.

Excellent

An October weekend in Morocco combining winter sun on the beach at the first-class Sultana Hotel in Oualidia with probably the nicest place to stay in the Medina of Marrakesh - the Riad called Maison MK. This was a a great combination, which I would heartily recommend.
