Freedom Trail, BEST EXPERIENCE FOR YEARS.

First trip I've done through Discover Adventure and it won't be my last, superb experience and the people were great. The catering and accommodation was far better than expected. Although the trek was hard and in some places was quite a challenge with heavy packs climbing up almost vertical boulders on your hands and knees, it made it all the more memorable. The Halifax Bomber crash site is not to be missed and is a very sobering reminder ...

The Halifax Bomber crash site is not to be missed and is a very sobering reminder of why we did the Freedom Trail in the first place. The Spa town on the last day was fantastic and was a welcome prize for our sore legs.

London to Paris Cycle by Emma, 16 Sep 2014

I cycled from London to Paris and then some of the Paris to Geneva trip with Discover Adventure

I had an amazing time. I cycled over four days from Blackheath in London to Paris, 300 miles, with 105 other people. Then I felt I could go on so I had a day's rest and then the next day left Paris with the Paris - Geneva group. I only did 75 miles of the first day of this leg (day 6 for me) and then I got tired and had to stop. I came home the day after that. I am very pleased with the 375 miles I achieved because I had been ill and fatigued ...

I am very pleased with the 375 miles I achieved because I had been ill and fatigued for the months leading up to the ride. The atmosphere in both groups was friendly and jovial and everyone was generous-spirited because they were all giving of themselves in some way. I was very slow and cycled right at the back most of the way in the company of three really fun and supportive other riders.

Rating for tour operator:

Discover Adventure were always ready to cheerfully give information or help practically, from fixing the bike to calling a hotel to see if I'd left something there. They knew all the answers to the questions I asked, or found out for me, they really made me feel as if I was in safe hands. They were very well organised and I couldn't fault anything about the trip. Everything we needed was thought about and in place. They were encouraging without being patronizing and very supportive and helpful when I was at the back and had to stop. The office were helpful when I decided a couple of days before the ride to pull out of the Paris-Geneva leg and then asked to be put back in it again when I decided at Paris that I was able to go on.

A huge well done for all your efforts on the ride Emma, a fantastic achievement! We hope to see you on another cycle soon. Well done.

Excellent organisation and great support.

I completed LEJOG with Discovery Adventure and found the organisation fantastic and the support crew excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they managed to maintain a very professional but friendly relationship throughout the trip. The hotels were very good and the food was exceptional and plentiful. The route was beautiful and a true challenge to me, I found the whole experience very rewarding and great fun.

From my initial inquiry to the final post LEJOG celebration dinner Discover Adventure have been friendly and efficient. All my pre-trip information arrived in plenty of time, the support on the trip was excellent and the overall package delivered what had been promised. I would highly recommend them to other thrill seekers.

This was a great experience. Very well organised. Staff were helpful and friendly throughout. Can't praise enough.

For me the ride and experience was absolutely brilliant! Wasn’t totally sure how I’d get on, whether I’d prepared enough but in the end it worked out fine. I could have done some more hill-work, and as I have only been cycling for a bit over a year. But even the seasoned riders found it a challenge, and it is meant to be. If it was easy, it would be boring and we’d have nothing to talk about or feel a sense of achievement over. On my part ...

I could have done some more hill-work, and as I have only been cycling for a bit over a year. But even the seasoned riders found it a challenge, and it is meant to be. If it was easy, it would be boring and we’d have nothing to talk about or feel a sense of achievement over. On my part the accommodation was superb. lso, glad that the accommodation was of a more superior quality: I dare say you could cut cost by booking cheaper accommodation but after a long day’s ride you want to have better accommodation and not be complaining about poor showers or less comfortable beds. Organisationally - no complaints from me. Oganisationally for me things worked well. The team were superb. Helpful and always with a smile - even laughed at our jokes and responded positively throughout. Obviously, we all look back positively as we were blessed with the weather – four days riding, no rain, temperatures just about right – nice lot of cloud cover for much of the ride and some sunshine  We could not have asked for it to be any better. Would views be different with two or so days of rain? Food – must compliment Extreme catering on the food. Excellent! What I liked was the salad type foods, not boring lettuce and tomatoes, but nutritious spinach leaves and the like. Also inventive – black pudding with a honey mustard dressing. Really was very good. One very, very minor thing – someone suggested whether a commemorative medal might not go amiss. We do have the t-shirts, which I was not expecting. But this is exceptionally minor! But for me 9 out of 10 – just cos if give you 10, you might get complacent. I will definitely be looking to do something similar again. If I do keep the cycling going I might do London/Paris and Paris/Geneva next year. But will certainly look to repeat. Thanks for the experience.

Rating for tour operator:

The DA staff were superb, we had problems but were dealt with promptly and in good spirit, before and during the trek. It was all well planned and executed, and I felt confident just "letting go" and just enjoying the experience without worrying about the details/logistics etc.

Discover Adventure Ltd responded to this review on 05 Aug 2014:

Roger, thank you very much for taking the time and trouble to put your thoughts down here. You were a true DA Pioneer, taking part in an inaugural trip which was a true challenge up and over the mountain passes. Thank you for coming and we hope to see you again. Best wishes Discover Adventure
