Charming cottage in beautiful location

La Quintana is a quaint & attractive house surrounded by green fields & woods & about 2 miles from the small town of Colunga & 4 miles from La Griega beach. Many other beaches, nice towns for visiting & attractions such as Arriondas & the Sella river descent are within easy reach by car. The owners were unobtrusive but very friendly & gave us lots of garden vegetables, freshly picked. There is a nice garden to play in & lie in the sun or shade ...

Carefree holiday in beautiful Cantabria, Northern Spain

The location was superb with easy access to lovely beaches and beautiful countryside. The owners of the house lived next door and were very helpful. From the house we had spectacular views down to the local village and beyond to the mountains. We love the freedom of such a self-catering holiday with the added advantage of taking our car on the ferry.

Rating for tour operator:

We have used Casas Cantabricas to book holiday properties many times before and have always found them to be completely reliable and very helpful and accurate in their descriptions. They provide heaps of local information about places to visit and good restaurants in the holiday area. They also offer the option of booking the ferry through their company too and can give advice about routes. There is a degree of flexibility about dates too to fit in with ferry timetables. They are also very approachable and deal with queries efficiently.

A wonderful time exploring Galicia, staying in a beautiful house in a truly magical location.

A wonderful time exploring Galicia - stunning beaches, islands, walks, delicious seafood etc. The house was extremely comfortable, well equipped and in an absolutely magical location - sea views and a lovely beach on the doorstep. The house had a beautiful surrounding garden and the owner was friendly and helpful. Overall, a brilliant family holiday!

Good variety of different experiences.

Stayed in traditional Spanish village and hamlet. There was a range of things to do from climbing in the mountains and swimming in mountain pools and rivers to body boarding and swimming on beautifully unspoiled sandy beaches. We also visited caves, art galleries and had some fantastic meals out.

All travel arrangements went smoothly and any information we required was provided quickly. The houses were authentically Spanish with lots of character but well equipped for self catering.

NC1 Bilbao to Santiago - Norte by Sophie, 31 Aug 2017

Marvellous mix of city and country in Northern Spain

2 nights in Bilbao for culture and city buzz (really lovely helpful staff and breakfast at the hotel). 7 nights self catering in Asturias (heavenly views) a great location for visiting coast and inland, 2 nights in Santiago - stunned by the huge cathedral and other churches (again amazing staff in gorgeous hotel). Visited a Coruna by train (very easy). We highly recommend this area for those wanting a slightly different holiday.

Leonor and his colleagues at Casas Cantabricas organised our holiday brilliantly. Every question was answered promptly, all our requests were taken into account. The car hire was painless, the directions given were impeccable. The Footsteps guide was a welcome added extra. Checking in and out of hotels was easy. All the pressure points of a holiday were taken care for us. Thank you so much for enabling us to have a truly relaxing break. We highly recommend the company.

Then we drove 1500 miles around northern Spain staying at 7 hotels over a period of 18 days on a route recommended by our tour operator, Casas Cantabricas, with tours and attractions around each hotel area, recommended by them. This was from Santander south west via Santillana del Mar, Potes and Leon, to Ponferrada. Then North West to the coast at Puerto de Vega and back via Libardon to Bilbao. They also recommended a choice of restaurants in every place and on every route. We found these, without exception to be very good and great value. Every hotel and ferry was pre-booked to perfection.

Rating for tour operator:

Casas Cantabricas did a great job recommending a route through Northern Spain, which was subsequently refined by suggestions on both sides. They did all the bookings (Ferries and hotels) and subsequent confirmations which worked excellently on every occasion. They suggested alternative detailed routes between port and hotels and to the next hotel either scenic or speedy. They recommended tours and attractions in each location we stopped with great background information on each area. They recommended a choice of restaurants at every location, both near hotels or at likely stops on any tour or travel route. They have a great App with all the information available but for Dinosaurs like us they provided hard copies when requested. On the whole they provided a fabulous service which we would have no hesitation recomending to others

Beautiful old house in Northern Spain.

We went with our three adult children and their partners and had a wonderfully relaxing time enjoying the beaches, the little towns, and the food and wine. We thoroughly enjoyed sharing the cooking and all eating together round the huge old table every evening.

Although remote it was within easy access of the main route through Astorias so all the fascinating towns were within easy reach and mountain drives and walks virtually on our doorstep. Being on a frequently used path for the locals, many Holas were exchanged every day and we felt very welcome. It did rain alot but it was also very green and lush so a compensation and it was never cold. The owners of Casa Margarita were lovely and gave us some of the local cider when our electricity failed for half an hour. A very happy holiday and we will be returning some day.

Rating for tour operator:

Casas Cantabricas were exceptionally helpful first of all in offering a selection of houses according to my request. They personally know the area and were very happy to talk on the phone and discuss the different properties. They made all the arrangements for travel so all was easy. They offer an excellent personal holiday service and at the end of the holiday when there was a slight problem with the key return following a phone call back to the UK they helped sort everything out. I would highly recommend them for a holiday in Northern Spain
