Holidays to Botswana

Botswana is perhaps Africa’s most exclusive and exquisite safari destination. Focusing on low impact, high income tourism means that the country’s wilderness areas have remained beautiful and unspoiled, with spectacular wildlife and superb camps and lodges.

In the north, the Okavango Delta is a maze of ever-changing waterways and islands best explored by mokoro – dug-out canoes for meandering through reed-fringed channels. The Big Five can be seen here, and neighbouring Chobe National Park is home to some of Africa’s largest elephant and buffalo herds. Further south is the Kalahari Desert, the eerie white pans and vast open spaces of rarely-visited Makgadikgadi National Park and Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

During my first safari in Moremi Game Reserve, I spotted lions, glided on a mokoro past elephants and tiny reed frogs, and was mesmerised by sunsets that set the skies ablaze. Botswana may be expensive, but the memories are priceless.
