Mickeldore arrangements and travel information was seemless, so easy to follow and no issues with getting luggage transferred. We received positive feedback from the bed and breakfast hosts and taxi service who also stated that Mickeldore was the best walking company they deal with as they provide a personal touch, take time to visit and care which we totally agree with. We would highly recommend using them and look forward to our next holiday

A lovely, somewhat leisurely walk over 11 days down the Northumbrian coast. Charming and comfortable accommodations and opportunities to visit several historical sites

St Oswald's Way - an excellent walk along the Northumberland coast and across country to Hadrian's Wall

It's a varied itinerary and every day is a highlight. Part of the pleasure of walking was the anticipation of arriving at my accommodation and meeting my host at the end of the day. Setting off from the atmospheric island of Lindisfarne, the 97 mile walk follows the coast south to Warkworth and then heads inland to Rothbury before turning south to Hadrian's Wall. It's a varied itinerary and every day is a highlight. Part of the pleasure of walking was the anticipation of arriving at my accommodation and meeting my host at the end of the day. Each was different, all were high quality and some were amazing. And the breakfasts! Taxi transfers, where necessary, were well organised and drivers were happy to be flexible and fit in with my schedule. As a solo walker, I find it very reassuring to know that someone is looking out for me at the end of the day.

Rating for tour operator:

Mickledore cater for every eventuality and there is someone available if support is needed at any time. Their holiday package includes route guides and local information covering everything you might need from cash points to cafés on or near the route. Everything is on the app, so there's no need to carry paperwork. All I had to do was turn up and walk. This was my 8th holiday with Mickledore, I think that says it all.

Wonderful varied walking experience

Walking St Oswald's Way in Northumberland was a delightful experience. The route encompases a mixture of historic Holy Island, the unspoilt Northumberland coast with its beautiful beaches and harbours and later the quiet rolling hills finishing along Hadrians Wall. Very good accomodation B & Bs, guest houses and pubs and fortunately good weather enhanced the whole experience.

Walking holiday following St Oswald's trail

We spent six days walking with accommodation and luggage transport organised by Mickledore. Everything was very well arranged as usual, and the guide books and maps provided accurate and easily understood.

Attractive walking with wild flowers and birdsong

Walking the northern part of the St Oswald's way (Holy Island to Warkworth) was a wonderful way to escape the worries of everyday life. Carrying just a day sack, we were able to linger and look at wildflowers and wonder at the skylarks. The accommodation was welcoming and all arrangements were taken care of by Mickledore faultlessly.
