Finding enough superlative words to describe the Walking and Cruising the Carian Way tour is a challenge. This tour was a fantastic experience and perfect blend of sightseeing, education, relaxation, fabulous food and an immersion into Turkish culture and history. Tour organization and planning was flawless. The Gulet is beautiful and comfortable, the crew lovely and Peter Sommer and Çem Yücesoy, the tour guides, are exceptionally knowledgeable, gracious, congenial and welcoming. I felt the trip surpassed the descriptions in the marketing materials and was one of the most positive travel experiences I’ve had in recent years.

what a great week full of history, packed with interesting insights and wild nature. the guide and his local companion were ever helpful and always available. the gullet was a real holiday experience, the crew very hospitable, the food fresh and local.

Peter is a passionate and very knowledgable tourguide, he brought history to life. The organsiation of the trip was impecable, before and during it all.

Previously, we were very sceptical about guided tours, but with Peter Sommer Travels (PST) we were very satisfied. They use guides who are experts in their respected fields and the areas we were visiting. They also have a local guide from the country we were visiting. Knowledge however, is one thing, but PST guides also have the ability to put that information over in a way for people to understand. Having studied archaeology at university, I knew a lot about ancient sites. The guides, in this case Peter Sommer himself, bought these sites to life in a way I had never been taught. Walking and Cruising the Carian Coast was a wonderful experience. It bought together my love of boats and the sea, walking through lovely landscapes and visiting ancient places. It was also lovely meeting like minded people from across the world. PST take small groups and you get to know everyone, which enhanced our experience even further. We are now planning our next PST holiday

This was our fourth expedition with Peter Sommer Travels and it lived up to their reputation and our expectations. This trip and all the previous ones were well organised, from picking us up at the airport to dropping us back again. The accommodation and food, either in hotels or on gulets, was excellent and all of our needs were catered for.

We traveled on the Carian coast in a gulet, which we have never done before. It was truly a great experience. Our two guides: one was an archaeologist, and the other was his best friend who organized a great part of our conveniences, were both terrific. The food was phenomenal. Accommodations were perfect for our needs. We greatly enjoyed all the experiences. We have created some new friendships, which is wonderful.

Wonderful

We had a fantastic time with Peter Sommer Tours crusing down the Turkish coast on a gulet with daily walks to amazing sites. We were able to relax on the gulet (boat), take great walks along the coast and even swim occassionally (but it was still a bit chilly in the water). One of the best holidays we have had as it combined our love of history, hiking and meeting a small group of new people.

Peter and his team really bring the ancient civilisations alive through exploring sites and telling us about the history of each. They are also introduced us to a number of locals who provided great hospitality. The gulet and crew were amazing. A beautiful boat, reasonably spacious cabin and ensuite and outstanding meals. Communication with Peter Sommer Travels leading up to the holiday was excellent.

We traveled to Cary and coast in a gullet, which we have never done before. It was truly a great experience. Our two guys one was an archaeologist, and the other was his best friend who organized a great part of our conveniences were terrific. The food was phenomenal. Accommodations were perfect for our needs. We greatly enjoyed all the experiences. We have created some new friendships, which is wonderful.

We took a Peter Sommer Carian Coast Cruise and Walk. I had never used or heard of Peter Sommer but I can only say that it iexceeded our expectations. Knowledgeably guide by historian and archaeologist Richard Bayliss we enjoyed a week of walking and cruising, visiting some of the less known treasures of the Carian Coast,. After a hard walk it was always a delight to return to our gullet for a cooling swim in the clear blue-green sea. The gullet wax comfortable and spacious, the crew could not have been more helpful.. We all loved the whole experience , so much so that we are signing up for Peter Sommer’s Lycian Coast cruise next year.

Peter Sommer Travels provides excellent personal and friendly service from initial booking enquiry through all aspects of the trip, including excellent leaders and staff on the gulet.

The holiday provided a highly enjoyable means of exploring a relatively deserted coastline, based on a comfortable gulet with excellent food and swimming opportunities but with the added interest of hikes of 3-4 hours a day, including visits to archaeological and historical sites.

Peter Sommer Travels has been a consistently excellent provider of cultural tours for small groups - I have now been on 5 holidays with them, either cruising or cruising/walking in South West Turkey or the Dodecanese, and have greatly enjoyed them all.

As an Individual traveler I Boarded a Gullet In marmaras and met the remainder of the group. We sailed around the Carian ismus to Bodrum. Each day accompanied by a very knowledgble guide an Archeologist who had excavated some of the sites we walked to visit Greeko/Roman sites and some villages abandoned by their inhabitants circa 1920. The captain and crew of the Gullet was excellent and very entertaining. The food on the Gullet was excellent and a perfect introduction to Turkish food. Highly recommended .

Peter Sommer were very easy to contact and maintained contact at all times. Instructions were clear and all arrangements met.
